To make a sleep meditation video loop seamlessly on YouTube Live, do two things: edit the end of the video so it flows naturally back to the beginning, then set your streaming software to repeat the finished file. In OBS, add the file as a Media Source and enable Loop. That repeats playback, but it cannot repair a visible jump or an audio click already in the edit.

1. Choose a section that can loop naturally

Look for a passage whose first and last moments can sit next to each other without suggesting that something has restarted. Steady imagery and continuous ambience are good candidates. Avoid cuts at a camera move, sudden lighting change, spoken sentence ending, musical cadence, or sharp sound transient where possible.

There is no universally correct loop point or transition duration: it depends on the footage and audio. Judge the join by watching and listening to the actual material.

2. Edit the seam in your video editor

Check the picture

Place the candidate ending and beginning next to each other in a review sequence. If the image jumps, try moving the cut to a more compatible moment. If a direct cut still looks abrupt, blend the adjoining visuals with a Cross Dissolve. A dissolve can soften a visual change, but it will not fix an audio problem.

Check the sound

Listen for a click, silence gap, sudden change in ambience, doubled transient, or noticeable volume swell. If needed, overlap the audio and apply a crossfade. Adobe lists Cross Dissolve and Constant Power Crossfade as default video and audio transitions in Premiere Pro. Adobe describes Constant Gain as changing level at a constant rate and notes that it can create an audible dip at the transition midpoint; Constant Power follows a different curve intended to make the transition gradual. The result depends on the source audio, so listen to your own edit rather than choosing a duration by rule.

Premiere Pro is an example, not a requirement. Use an editor you already have that offers the transitions you need.

3. Review the join on repeat

In Premiere Pro, mark In and Out points around the seam and use loop playback to review that short section repeatedly. At normal playback speed, watch and listen across several cycles. Look for a flash, freeze, position jump, or other visual discontinuity; listen for a click, silence, doubled transient, or volume change. Fix each issue in its own track: an image dissolve will not remove a sound click, and an audio crossfade will not correct a visible jump.

4. Make the file repeat in OBS

  1. Prepare the finished file. Export the edited video and save it on the computer running OBS. OBS Media Source supports common video formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM.
  2. Add a Media Source. In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene and select the finished file.
  3. Enable Loop. In the Media Source properties, turn on Loop. OBS describes this property as specifying whether the file plays again after playback has completed. It repeats playback; it does not edit or smooth the seam.
  4. Check the scene before streaming. Play through the end and beginning in OBS and confirm the image and audio still behave as expected.

5. Send the loop to YouTube Live

  1. Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream. Follow the current steps shown there for the stream.
  2. Copy the encoder details. Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube into the encoder settings in OBS.
  3. Keep the key private. YouTube uses the stream key to identify the encoder feed it accepts. Treat it like a password; do not publish it or share it with people who should not be able to send a feed to your stream.
  4. Start the feed and follow YouTube’s live flow. Start streaming from OBS, then use the preview and go-live steps shown in the Live Control Room.
  5. Stop both sides cleanly. When finished, end the stream in YouTube and stop sending encoder content from OBS.

YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not rely on automatic archiving for a stream that runs 12 hours or longer.

Before you go live: rights and archive expectations

  • Use material you have the right to stream. Check the rights for both visuals and music, including whether the license covers live broadcasts and your intended use. A label such as “royalty-free” alone does not establish that every live-stream or monetization use is cleared.
  • Do not assume a long live broadcast will be archived automatically. YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams shorter than 12 hours; that statement does not extend to longer streams.
  • Keep the key secure. Anyone with access to the stream key may be able to send an encoder feed accepted by YouTube.

Troubleshooting a loop that does not feel seamless

What you notice Likely issue What to check
The picture jumps or flashes at the restart The ending and beginning do not match, or the cut is too abrupt. Move the cut to steadier moments or try a Cross Dissolve; replay the join at normal speed.
There is a click or a sudden change in sound The audio edges do not meet smoothly. Inspect the waveform and listen around the cut. Adjust the overlap or use an audio crossfade.
The sound briefly gets quieter in the middle of the transition The crossfade curve may create a midpoint dip. In Premiere Pro, Adobe notes that Constant Gain can produce an audible midpoint dip. Try another curve, such as Constant Power, then listen to the result.
The file stops instead of restarting Loop may not be enabled on the Media Source, or the selected source may not be the intended file. Open the Media Source properties, verify the file, and enable Loop.
YouTube does not receive the OBS feed The encoder may have incorrect or missing connection details, or the Live Control Room flow may not be complete. Check the stream URL and key in OBS against the current YouTube Studio stream, then follow its preview and go-live steps.
