To run a 24/7 Malayalam music stream on YouTube, first clear the rights to every recording, prepare and verify an eligible YouTube channel, then send a continuous audio-and-video feed through an encoder or cloud service. Test it before launch and plan for two separate risks: YouTube may interrupt music that is not allowlisted, and streams longer than 12 hours may not be archived.
1. Clear the rights to every song before you stream
Rights are the first gate—not a setting you can fix in YouTube Studio. Use recordings you made and own, music commissioned with written permissions, or a catalog whose license specifically covers YouTube livestreaming. For Malayalam film, label, or other third-party recordings, permission may be needed for both the composition and the particular sound recording. Check the agreement for territory, duration, monetization rights, and any Content ID requirements.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can interrupt or terminate a stream, and having a license may not prevent interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Confirm the owner’s allowlisting process before going live; a successful test does not establish that the rights are cleared. YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance explains the platform’s approach.
Crediting the artist, owning a purchased copy, having a consumer streaming subscription, or seeing no immediate claim does not by itself grant permission to rebroadcast a song live. Keep written permissions and any relevant allowlist confirmation with your production records.

2. Prepare your YouTube channel
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned launch. YouTube’s current guidance also requires streamers to be at least 16 years old. Check the YouTube live-streaming eligibility requirements for the current rules that apply to your account.
3. Choose how to keep the stream running
The key difference between approaches is who keeps the playlist and encoder online, and how much control you want over the setup. YouTube supports software encoders, cloud services, and dedicated hardware; no creator needs to combine all three.
| Approach | How it works | Trade-offs to consider |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo — cloud service | Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and start the stream. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud. | Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. Check the service’s storage limit and choose a billing period that suits your run. StreamNeo streams to YouTube and does not provide music rights. |
| Computer and software encoder | A computer plays the music and visual scene, while software such as OBS encodes and sends the feed to YouTube. | You control the production setup, but you are responsible for the computer’s uptime, updates, network, monitoring, and recovery after a failure. YouTube lists OBS as free, open-source streaming software. |
| Another cloud service | YouTube’s verified encoder list describes Gyre for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos and Upstream as a 24/7 cloud studio. | A hosted setup avoids depending on a local desktop, but check current pricing, file limits, availability, and the specific features you need. Cloud hosting does not supply music rights. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | YouTube lists the AJA HELO Plus, including a feature for scheduling prerecorded media to YouTube Live without a computer. | This is a specialist hardware route, not a requirement for every channel. Check the current product and workflow details before buying. |
YouTube confirms these routes are available but does not publish a like-for-like comparison of their price or reliability. Compare them by uptime responsibility, playlist scheduling, restart and recovery, stream controls, local recording, and current vendor terms. Do not assume any provider guarantees an uninterrupted stream.

4. Create the live stream in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Stream. Choose to create or schedule the stream.
- Add a clear title and description, select a thumbnail, and set up a visual treatment that fits a music-first broadcast. Schedule ahead if you want a stable watch URL or want viewers to set a reminder.
- Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into your encoder’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the stream.
- Start the encoder and wait for the preview in Live Control Room. Check the picture, audio, and stream-health messages; then select Go Live when the feed is ready.
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance describes the connection sequence. Keep a record of the configuration, but do not store or share the stream key where others can access it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems5. Set the encoder and test the real playlist
Video, audio, and transport
Choose the resolution and bitrate to suit your upload connection and the quality you actually need. For RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video at up to 60 fps, with constant bitrate (CBR) encoding. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Supported audio encodings include AAC and MP3; YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. Follow the current YouTube encoder settings for the selected resolution rather than treating one bitrate as right for every connection.
Run an upload-speed test and leave headroom instead of choosing a bitrate that uses all available upload capacity. A speed-test result does not guarantee that a home connection will sustain a 24/7 broadcast; congestion, outages, and local equipment can still interrupt it.

Make the music presentation dependable
- Listen to representative tracks for clean sound and consistent perceived loudness across the playlist.
- Use a visual scene that is distinct but not distracting. If it shows song titles or artists, keep those labels synchronized with the play queue.
- Test with representative audio and motion, not just a static screen or a short silent segment.
Run an unlisted rehearsal
Before the public launch, make an unlisted test stream and check it in Live Control Room and on a separate device. YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test, and YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends testing with representative sound and motion. Confirm that the right playlist is playing, the audio is audible, the picture is stable, and the dashboard reports a healthy connection. A technical test does not replace rights clearance.
6. Decide how you will handle replays
YouTube can automatically archive streams that run for less than 12 hours. YouTube Help warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” If a replay matters, do not rely on a longer continuous broadcast being saved. Consider ending and restarting the public stream before it reaches 12 hours, with a planned handoff, and record a local backup. Check YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance before treating a replay as a permanent catalog.

7. Keep copyright and monetization as separate checks
Permission to play music answers whether you may use that material; it does not guarantee that a channel or stream qualifies for monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policy expects original and authentic content, flags mass-produced or repetitive material, and gives collections of songs from different artists as an example of content that may not monetize even when the creator has permission. Reused-content review is separate from copyright permission. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies before making revenue assumptions.
If you own the catalog, created original arrangements or performances, or contributed meaningful original presentation, describe that work accurately and keep evidence of your role. YouTube makes monetization decisions through its policy review; none of these steps promises approval.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.8. Troubleshoot common interruptions
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Live access is unavailable | The channel is not verified, has a recent live restriction, or first-time activation is still processing. | Check channel verification and live-stream eligibility. If you just enabled live streaming, allow up to 24 hours for activation. |
| YouTube interrupts or terminates the broadcast | A third-party match, rights issue, or missing Content ID allowlisting may be involved. | Check Live Control Room alerts, stop using material you cannot verify, and contact the relevant rights owner about the license and allowlisting. Do not assume a license alone prevents an interruption. |
| The preview is unstable or stream health is poor | The upload connection may not sustain the selected bitrate, or local network conditions may be fluctuating. | Check the dashboard messages, test upload capacity again, and lower the bitrate or resolution to a level the connection can sustain. Repeat the rehearsal with representative content. |
| The stream is live but a replay is missing | A stream that exceeded 12 hours may not be captured. | For future broadcasts, plan shorter sessions and keep a separate local recording if the replay is important. |
| The stream stops when a computer or network fails | A computer-based encoder depends on that machine and connection remaining available. | Restore the computer and network, then reconnect the encoder using the current stream setup. If continuous operation without a home computer is important, consider a cloud workflow. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I stream Malayalam film songs if I credit the singer?
Credit alone does not grant livestream permission. You need authorization covering the recording and composition, as applicable, and should confirm any Content ID allowlisting requirement with the rights owner.
Does an unlisted test prove my music is cleared?
No. A test checks the technical feed; it does not establish permission or guarantee that YouTube will not interrupt a later stream.
