To keep Gurbani playing on YouTube around the clock, send a continuous, rights-cleared audio-and-video feed from a streaming encoder to a YouTube live stream. You need an eligible channel, the correct YouTube stream details, an encoder and a stable connection; the encoder and connection must keep operating for the feed to continue. If you want the stream to continue without leaving a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option for looping uploaded videos on YouTube.

What you need before starting

  • A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube’s current eligibility guidance requires a verified channel, no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days and a streamer aged at least 16. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance before planning your launch.
  • A rights-cleared program: a live performance, recording or other permitted source, plus any visuals and music included in the stream.
  • A streaming encoder that can send the audio and video continuously, and an internet connection capable of sustaining your chosen stream settings.
  • Time to test the full setup and monitor YouTube’s stream-health indicators while live.

YouTube does not specify one minimum computer configuration that suits every encoder and media workload. Choose equipment based on the encoder and source you intend to use; a dedicated computer is optional, not a platform requirement.

Clear rights to the recordings and visuals

Devotional subject matter does not by itself establish that a particular recording or performance can be rebroadcast. The rights in a Gurbani text or composition and the rights in a specific recording, arrangement, performance, or accompanying visual are separate questions. Get written permission from the relevant rights owner for material you do not own or otherwise have permission to use.

YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and issue a warning; if the content remains, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. Even with a licence, the rights owner may need to add your channel to the Content ID allowlist. YouTube for Artists advises: “If you’re planning on using copyright-protected music during your live stream, we recommend coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid any issues, such as copyright strikes.” See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and YouTube for Artists.

Set up the YouTube stream and broadcast

YouTube treats the incoming feed and the viewer-facing event as separate resources: the live stream carries the encoder’s audio and video, while the live broadcast is the event viewers watch. For a standard setup, create or select the stream and broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, then use the ingestion details YouTube displays for the selected stream.

  1. Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to enter Live Control Room. If the channel is not eligible, resolve that first rather than trying to configure the encoder.
  2. Create or schedule the broadcast and set its audience and other event details in Live Control Room. Choose a continuous program plan and prepare its title, description and visual presentation.
  3. Select or create the live stream associated with the broadcast. Copy the ingestion address and stream key shown by YouTube into the encoder’s streaming destination fields. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
  4. Use the protocol and stream details presented by YouTube for that stream. YouTube’s API supports RTMP (including RTMPS), HLS and DASH ingestion; for an RTMP-based encoder, YouTube recommends RTMPS. Do not assume every encoder supports every ingestion protocol.
  5. Before making the broadcast public, run a representative test and confirm that the incoming feed appears in Live Control Room with healthy status.

For exact current controls, consult YouTube’s encoder setup guidance and the Live Streaming API stream resource reference.

Configure and test the encoder

Choose resolution, frame rate, codec and bitrate using YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance and the upload connection available to the encoder. There is no single bitrate that is right for every resolution, frame rate or connection, so use the current official table rather than copying a number meant for a different setup. YouTube recommends a constant bitrate and a two-second keyframe interval; its settings table says not to exceed four seconds.

  1. In the encoder, select the media source and confirm that both audio and video are present. For a prepared program, check that the visuals match the audio and that any playlist or transition behaves as intended.
  2. Choose a resolution, frame rate, codec and bitrate supported by the encoder and appropriate to your source and internet upload capacity. Set constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, following the encoder’s own control names.
  3. Set the destination to YouTube’s displayed ingestion address and enter the matching stream key. Use RTMPS when the encoder and the displayed YouTube settings support it.
  4. Start a private or otherwise controlled test using representative audio and video. Check sound level, synchronization, picture, network stability and YouTube’s stream-health status before inviting viewers.
  5. Once the test is clean, start the scheduled or ongoing broadcast in Live Control Room and keep the encoder sending the feed. Watch the audio, connection and health status rather than assuming a successful start guarantees uninterrupted operation.

YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance is the authority for current recommendations and bitrate ranges; settings can change, so check it at setup time.

Keep the program live and handle separate events

A 24/7 feed depends on the encoder continuing to send data and the network and source remaining available. YouTube’s API documentation describes a continuous broadcast sharing a stream with a separate, shorter broadcast: the shorter broadcast can be completed without stopping the continuous feed. This is useful when you want to run a distinct event, such as an interview, alongside the ongoing channel feed; it is an API broadcast pattern, not a promise that a real stream cannot fail.

YouTube’s current Help guidance limits simultaneous streaming to 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key. Plan within those limits if you intend to run concurrent broadcasts. Keep someone responsible for checking the stream, audio, encoder and network, and decide in advance how to respond to a power loss, connection failure, encoder crash or copyright warning. YouTube reports stream health and may interrupt streams for rights issues, but these sources do not establish a particular uptime or provide a complete redundancy plan.

Troubleshoot common failures

  • The encoder will not connect: Check that the copied ingestion address and stream key belong to the selected YouTube stream, that the encoder is using a supported protocol, and that the key has not been reset. Replace an exposed or changed key in the encoder.
  • YouTube shows poor or unstable stream health: Check the actual upload connection, then reduce the selected video settings or bitrate to a level the connection can sustain. Confirm CBR and the recommended two-second keyframe interval, and test again.
  • Viewers hear silence or mismatched audio: Verify the encoder’s selected audio source, input level and routing; listen to a representative test and check synchronization before returning to public streaming.
  • The broadcast stops after an interruption: Check whether the encoder, computer, power or network stopped sending the feed, then reconnect using the stream details for that stream and confirm the status in Live Control Room. A continuous-broadcast design does not prevent an equipment or network failure.
  • YouTube displays a copyright warning or replaces the feed: Identify the matched material and stop using it unless you have the necessary rights and any required Content ID allowlisting. Contact the rights owner or label/distributor to resolve licensing and allowlisting; do not assume the devotional nature of the content makes it exempt.
