Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →To make a 24/7 affirmations stream with OBS, loop a rights-cleared video or playlist in a Media Source, connect OBS to a YouTube Live stream with your stream key, and keep the computer and internet connection running while you monitor the broadcast. OBS can repeat media, but it does not guarantee an unattended, uninterrupted stream: plan how you will detect and restart a dropped feed.
Before you start: prepare the content and check YouTube Live
Use media you are allowed to stream
Use affirmation narration, music, and visuals that you created or have permission to broadcast worldwide. YouTube’s live-stream terms require you to hold the necessary rights for the live content, including applicable music rights, and to follow its Community Guidelines and applicable laws. See YouTube’s Terms of Service.
Permission to use a song in a personal video or to play it in the background is not necessarily permission to broadcast it worldwide. Keep records of licenses and permissions, and check that they cover livestreaming, the territories you serve, and any monetization you intend to enable.
Confirm that your channel can go live
YouTube’s eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming enablement instructions before planning a launch.

Choose a video or playlist
Prepare one finished video or several files for a playlist. Make sure the audio is clear and consistent, the visuals are suitable for repeated viewing, and the files play correctly from beginning to end. OBS loops a file or playlist; it does not create new affirmations or verify the rights to your content.
Set up a looping scene in OBS
Loop a single video or audio file
- Create a scene: In OBS, use the Scenes panel to add a scene for the affirmations broadcast.
- Add the media: In Sources, select the add button and choose Media Source. Create a new source, browse to the local video or audio file, and confirm.
- Enable looping: Open the Media Source properties and turn on Loop. OBS will restart the file when playback ends. The OBS Project documents this setting on its Media Sources page.
- Check the scene: Confirm the video is visible in the preview and that the media source is not hidden or covered by another source.
Loop a playlist of files
If you want several recordings to play in sequence, add a VLC Video source, add the files to its playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for the VLC source to appear in OBS. Verify that the playlist order and transitions work as expected before going live. OBS explains its available sources in the Quick Start Guide.

Set and test the audio
Play the scene and watch the Audio Mixer meters while listening through headphones or speakers. Make sure the affirmation track is audible, then mute any microphone or desktop-audio input you do not intend to broadcast. OBS’s default desktop-audio and microphone devices can be checked in the Audio Mixer; select or change devices under Settings → Audio if needed. A short test helps catch silence, clipping, or an unintended microphone before viewers hear it.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Create or schedule the broadcast: Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one, then choose the streaming software or encoder workflow.
- Copy the connection details: In the Live Control Room, copy the server URL and stream key shown for the broadcast.
- Enter them in OBS: Open Settings → Stream, choose YouTube as the service if available, and enter the stream key. If OBS asks for server details, use the server URL supplied by YouTube. Labels can vary by OBS version and connection method.
- Protect the key: Treat the stream key like a password. Do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast on your channel. Reset it in YouTube Studio if you think it has been exposed.
- Start with a private test: Start streaming from OBS and confirm that the feed appears in the Live Control Room. Check the picture, sound, and stream-health notices before making the broadcast public.
YouTube describes obtaining and using the server URL and stream key in its encoder setup instructions. OBS’s Quick Start Guide also recommends testing before the first live broadcast.

Choose settings your upload connection can sustain
There is no single bitrate that suits every resolution, frame rate, encoder, and internet connection. Set OBS to a quality your sustained upload can support, then test the actual output in YouTube’s Live Control Room. YouTube recommends testing upload speed and stream quality rather than assuming the advertised connection speed is available continuously.
- Rate control: Use CBR, or constant bitrate, as recommended in YouTube’s live-encoder guidance.
- Keyframe interval: Set a 2-second interval; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Audio: Use AAC or MP3 encoding as supported by your OBS output configuration and YouTube’s guidance.
- Resolution and frame rate: Choose settings appropriate for your source and available upload capacity. Avoid selecting a higher output than your computer and connection can sustain.
These are YouTube’s general encoder recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular setup will work. Its encoder guidance explains that YouTube transcodes the incoming feed for viewers on different devices and connections. See YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions and tips for live streaming.

Test, monitor, and plan for interruptions
Before a public launch, let the test run long enough to confirm the loop restarts, audio stays audible, and the Live Control Room reports a healthy feed. YouTube recommends monitoring stream health and audio and video quality while live. Keep OBS and the computer running, and have a way to notice a lost connection or failed broadcast and restart it. Neither the OBS nor YouTube guidance promises that a local setup will stay live without monitoring or intervention.
- Watch the OBS preview and audio meters for a frozen image, silence, or unexpected input.
- Check YouTube’s Live Control Room for stream-health warnings and confirm that the broadcast is actually live.
- If the feed drops, check the computer’s internet connection and OBS output status, then reconnect or restart the broadcast from OBS and verify it in YouTube Studio.
- For a fixed computer installation, Ethernet may help if the current Wi-Fi connection is unstable. A cable is optional and does not guarantee uptime.
Know what happens to a 24/7 stream archive
YouTube’s help guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. It does not promise automatic archiving for a continuous stream longer than that, so do not rely on a single 24-hour broadcast producing a complete replay. If you need a replay, consider local recording or shorter scheduled segments, and check the resulting archive. YouTube’s guidance can change; confirm current behavior in its live-stream archiving instructions.

Copyright, reused content, and monetization
YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships among livestream revenue features where available. Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. Monetization depends on YouTube Partner Program eligibility and policy compliance; repeating prerecorded affirmations does not automatically qualify a channel or its content.
YouTube’s Partner Program policies apply to live streams and address reused content as well as copyright. Make the broadcast meaningfully original—for example, use your own narration and composition, and add genuine value rather than relying on material you do not own or have permission to use. YouTube decides eligibility and policy enforcement. Review its channel monetization policies and YouTube Partner Program overview and eligibility.
Common OBS affirmations-stream problems
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The video ends and stays stopped | Loop is not enabled on the Media Source. | Open the source properties, enable Loop, and test the end-to-start transition. |
| The next playlist item never appears | The VLC source or playlist is not configured to loop, or VLC is not installed. | Install VLC if needed, confirm the files are in the VLC Video playlist, enable Loop Playlist, and test playback. |
| YouTube receives no audio | The wrong input is selected, the media is muted, or the source is not reaching the OBS mixer. | Play the scene, inspect Audio Mixer meters, check source volume and mute state, and select the intended devices under Settings → Audio. |
| YouTube reports a connection or stream-health problem | The upload connection may be unstable or the chosen output settings may exceed what it can sustain. | Test upload stability, reduce output demands if necessary, and verify the stream health in YouTube Studio before returning to public streaming. |
| The broadcast stops while you are away | The computer, OBS, or internet connection stopped working, or the stream was disconnected. | Restore the computer or connection, restart streaming in OBS, and confirm the Live Control Room shows the feed. Arrange monitoring and a restart plan for a local setup. |
| The full day’s broadcast is missing from the archive | A continuous stream longer than YouTube’s stated under-12-hour automatic archive guidance may not produce a complete replay. | Use local recording or shorter segments if a replay is important, and check the resulting archive rather than assuming it was saved. |
| A copyright or monetization issue appears | The stream may include material without adequate rights, or the channel/content may not meet applicable policies. | Review permissions and YouTube’s notices, remove or replace disputed material where appropriate, and consult the applicable YouTube policy before streaming it again. |
