To loop one regional-language MP4 in OBS, add it as a Media Source and turn on Loop. To repeat several MP4s in order, use OBS’s VLC Video source, add the files to its playlist, and leave Loop Playlist enabled. Then connect OBS to YouTube Live, check the Live Control Room preview, and test the exact files, audio, and connection before broadcasting publicly.

Choose the right OBS source

What you want to play OBS source What to know
One MP4, repeated Media Source Choose the local file and enable Loop. VLC is not required for this source.
Several MP4s, in order VLC Video Add the files to the playlist and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.

OBS documents MP4 support, but that does not guarantee every MP4 codec, profile, or damaged file will play correctly. Test the actual files in OBS before scheduling or starting a public stream.

Loop one MP4 in OBS

  1. Open the scene you want to broadcast. In the Sources dock, click + and choose Media Source.
  2. Name the source if useful, then select OK.
  3. In the source properties, choose the local MP4 file. Enable Loop, then click OK.
  4. Watch playback in the OBS canvas and listen for the audio. Let it reach the end once and confirm it starts again before going live.

Loop multiple MP4s as a playlist

  1. Install VLC in the architecture that matches OBS. OBS’s guidance specifies that 64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC.
  2. In the OBS Sources dock, click + and choose VLC Video. If that source is unavailable, check that VLC is installed and correctly matched to OBS.
  3. Add the MP4 files to the playlist in the order you want them to play.
  4. Keep Loop Playlist enabled. OBS documents it as on by default; verify the setting rather than assuming it has not been changed.
  5. Preview the full sequence, including the transition from the last file back to the first. Check source visibility if playback behaves differently when the source is hidden or switched out.

The documented playlist controls support repeating a list; they do not establish a regional-language-specific playback mode or a shuffle requirement. If you need a particular order, set that order in the playlist and verify it in preview.

Check language audio, subtitles, and scene text

Regional language does not require a special OBS loop setting. OBS’s documented procedure concerns the media source and playback controls, not the language of the program. If a file has multiple audio tracks or you need subtitles, check those separately in the source and in the video itself; do not assume that looping selects the intended track or displays captions.

  • Listen to the beginning, a representative middle section, and the loop point. Confirm the intended language and that the audio is not clipped or unexpectedly silent.
  • Watch for subtitle timing and legibility through the entire file. A subtitle file or track may need its own setup; the loop option alone does not configure subtitles.
  • If the stream should be silent, inspect the source audio and the OBS Audio Mixer before broadcasting. Check the mixer meters and mute or configure sources as needed.
  • For a title card or language label, add it as a separate OBS scene source. Confirm the selected font renders the script correctly on the system running OBS.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live

  1. In YouTube Studio, open Go Live / Live Control Room and create or select the stream.
  2. Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube’s stream settings into OBS’s streaming configuration. YouTube describes the key as the credential that tells the encoder where to send the feed and lets YouTube accept it.
  3. Keep the stream key private. YouTube says, “Stream keys are like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Do not show it in an OBS capture, on a title card, or in a public post.
  4. Start the stream from OBS and wait for the feed to appear in the Live Control Room preview. Check picture, audio, and stream status before making the broadcast public.

YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified and must have had no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. Check the channel’s current eligibility in YouTube Studio before relying on a planned broadcast.

Preflight the stream before going public

  • Test the exact files: play each MP4 in OBS, including a full loop or playlist cycle when practical. This can reveal unsupported codecs, damaged files, black frames, or unexpected audio.
  • Check the preview: confirm the framing, language audio, subtitles if used, and transition back to the first file in the YouTube Live Control Room.
  • Check upload capacity: compare your total stream bitrate with available upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends 20% headroom above the stream bitrate. This is platform guidance, not a guarantee that a particular connection will remain stable.
  • Run a short test: where practical, use a private or unlisted test and let it run for a few minutes. OBS recommends testing settings; YouTube also advises checking preview and stream integrity.
  • Clear the rights: make sure you have permission to stream both the video and its audio publicly. YouTube’s live-stream guidance specifically calls out rights for stream trailers; that does not grant rights to the main program.

There is no India-specific OBS preset established for this workflow. Resolution and bitrate depend on the source, computer, and connection, so choose settings that your upload connection can sustain and validate them in the preview.

Troubleshoot common problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check or do
VLC Video is missing or cannot play the playlist VLC is not installed, or its architecture does not match OBS. Install VLC and match architectures; 64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC. Restart OBS and test the source again.
One MP4 does not play or shows a blank frame The file may use an unsupported codec/profile or be damaged, even though MP4 is a documented container. Play the exact file in OBS before broadcast. Check the file itself and use a known-good compatible export if necessary.
The video ends instead of restarting The relevant loop control is off or the wrong source type is being used. For one file, check Loop in Media Source properties. For several files, check Loop Playlist in VLC Video properties.
The playlist order or visibility is unexpected The playlist order differs from the intended sequence, or source visibility affects playback behavior. Reorder and preview the playlist; test the source while visible and in the scene state you plan to broadcast.
There is no sound, or the wrong audio is heard The source audio, selected track, or OBS mixer state may not match the intended output. Check the file’s audio, listen in OBS, and inspect the Audio Mixer meters and mute states.
YouTube does not show a usable incoming feed The stream URL or key may be incorrect, the channel may not be eligible, or the connection may be unstable. Recheck the stream settings in YouTube Studio, confirm channel eligibility, and inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream integrity.
The feed drops or becomes unstable The upload connection may not have enough sustained capacity for the configured bitrate. Check actual upload capacity and leave YouTube’s recommended 20% bandwidth headroom; test again before the public stream.
