To repeat music you are watching, use YouTube’s Loop or Repeat control. To broadcast a continuous radio-style stream from your own channel, send a looping program feed to YouTube Live through an encoder and the Live Control Room. Those are separate workflows: a viewer’s Loop control does not create or automate a live broadcast.

Repeat a YouTube video or playlist as a viewer

YouTube’s playback controls repeat content for you; they do not rebroadcast it or make a live stream.

On a computer

  1. Open the video you want to repeat.
  2. Right-click the video player and select Loop.
  3. To repeat a playlist, open a video in that playlist, expand the playlist panel, and select its Loop control.

On a phone or tablet

  1. For one video, open the video’s Settings > Additional settings > Loop video.
  2. For a playlist, start playing it and use the playlist’s Loop control. YouTube also documents tapping the control again to repeat one video within the playlist.

On a TV or game console

While the video or playlist is playing, use the remote or controller to select Repeat until it indicates the current video or playlist, or look for Repeat in Settings. The available control and its display can depend on the device.

Broadcast continuous music as a creator

A radio-style live broadcast needs a source that keeps producing the program and an encoder that sends it to YouTube. You can use streaming software or a standalone hardware encoder; hardware is optional. YouTube describes an encoder as converting video into a digital format that YouTube can receive, and lists continuous live streams as a possible use of existing content libraries. Its instructions do not prescribe one universal way to configure the source player to repeat, so set up looping in the software or production arrangement you use.

1. Prepare and loop the program source

Arrange your music and any accompanying visuals in the source or automation setup that will feed the encoder. Configure that source to repeat the program as needed, then verify that playback transitions cleanly from the end back to the beginning. Keep the source running for the duration of the broadcast. The exact looping control varies by software and is not a YouTube Live setting.

2. Create the YouTube Live stream and get its connection details

  1. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go Live and set up the stream.
  2. In the Live Control Room, obtain the stream URL and stream key.
  3. Enter those details in your encoder’s YouTube or custom-stream destination settings. Treat the stream key like a password: it identifies where the encoder sends the feed and allows YouTube to accept it.

YouTube’s encoder setup guidance and Live Control Room settings guidance describe the platform-side workflow. Do not share the key publicly; if someone else obtains it, they may be able to send a feed to your stream.

3. Start the encoder, check the preview, then go live

  1. Start the source playback or automation and confirm it is feeding the encoder.
  2. Start streaming from the encoder using the YouTube stream URL and key.
  3. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health, then use its controls to bring the broadcast live.
  4. Monitor both the source playback and stream health during the broadcast so you can respond if either stops.

4. Choose whether viewers can rewind

YouTube’s Enable DVR setting lets viewers pause, rewind, and continue during a live stream. DVR is a viewer control, not a way to make a finite recording repeat automatically; looping must happen in your program source or production workflow.

5. Stop the broadcast and understand archiving

When the broadcast is over, stop the stream in the Live Control Room and stop the encoder or source. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish guaranteed uninterrupted operation or automatic archiving for longer continuous broadcasts.

Clear music rights before going live

Having access to a track, seeing it described as “free,” or holding a video license does not by itself establish permission to use it in a continuous live broadcast. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; if matched content remains after a warning, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. YouTube also warns that even licensed third-party material can be interrupted unless the rights owner has added the channel to its Content ID allowlist.

  • Confirm that your permission covers both the musical composition and the specific recording.
  • Check that it covers live transmission in the territories where you intend to reach viewers.
  • If you want the broadcast archived, verify that the rights also cover the resulting recording or on-demand playback.
  • Ask the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting where applicable; a license alone may not prevent an automated interruption.

YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance explains matching and possible interruptions. Its livestream terms put responsibility on providers to have necessary rights, including music licensing rights. This is a platform guidance summary, not jurisdiction-specific legal advice.

Creator Music is not a live-stream license

YouTube’s current Creator Music usage details say its tracks are for long-form videos, not live streams. The page also describes Creator Music as available to U.S. YouTube Partner Program creators, with expansion outside the U.S. pending. Do not treat a Creator Music video license or revenue-sharing option as permission to use a track in a live radio stream.
