To loop Indian classical flute meditation music on YouTube Live, add a prepared video or audio file to an OBS Studio scene as a Media Source and enable Loop. OBS repeats the file locally while the encoder sends the continuing feed to YouTube. For several tracks, use OBS’s VLC Video source and its looping playlist option. Before streaming, confirm you have rights to the specific recording for livestream use.

Choose a single file or a playlist

Option Best for What to know
OBS Media Source One continuous flute recording, with an optional still or animated visual OBS supports common video formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. Turn on the source’s Loop option.
OBS VLC Video source Managing several recordings as separate playlist items Use the source’s playlist controls; OBS documents Loop Playlist as on by default. VLC must be installed for this source.

A single prepared file is the simpler choice when the music should play as one uninterrupted arrangement. A playlist is more convenient when you want to keep tracks separate or control their order.

Set up a repeating flute stream in OBS

  1. Prepare the media. Use a video file containing the recording and any visual you want viewers to see. If starting with audio alone, combine it with a still image or other visual in a video file, or use a supported audio file as the media source.
  2. Create a scene. In OBS Studio, add a Media Source to the scene and select the prepared file.
  3. Enable repeat playback. In the Media Source properties, turn on Loop. For multiple files, add a VLC Video source, create its playlist, and check the playlist looping setting.
  4. Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS’s stream settings, choose YouTube as the service and enter your YouTube stream key. Treat the key as a password: do not share it or show it in a screen capture.
  5. Check the incoming feed before going public. Start the encoder and inspect YouTube’s live preview. Confirm that the flute audio is audible, the visual is correct, and the source continues playing.
  6. Watch one complete loop transition. Check that the end of the file does not produce an unwanted silence, black frame, or abrupt audio cut. A Loop setting repeats local playback; it does not by itself send anything to YouTube—the encoder must remain connected.

OBS’s documented formats and playback controls are described in its Media Sources guide. The YouTube connection and scene workflow are covered in the OBS Studio Overview Guide.

Clear the music rights before streaming

Confirm permission for the particular performance and sound recording, and that the permission covers a YouTube livestream and any replay you intend to retain. A traditional or old composition does not automatically make a modern performance or recording free to broadcast. For third-party licensed music, check the license’s permitted uses and territories.

  • YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop using the material; if it remains, the broadcast can be interrupted or terminated.
  • If you have permission to use a track that matches Content ID, ask the rights owner to add your channel to its allowlist.
  • A track described online as “free” is not necessarily cleared for a livestream. YouTube identifies public-domain music or music used with the copyright owner’s permission as safe options, and recommends checking the terms for third-party music. Its guidance is at Tips to find safe music.

Read YouTube’s explanation of live-stream matches and interruptions at Copyright issues with live streams. The applicable rights depend on the specific composition, performance, recording, license, and intended use; the sources here do not establish a blanket rule for Indian classical repertoire or a particular Indian rights society.

Troubleshoot common loop problems

  • The file plays once and stops: Reopen the Media Source properties and verify Loop is enabled. If you are using a VLC Video source, check its playlist looping control.
  • YouTube shows no incoming video: A local loop is not a broadcast. Confirm OBS is actively streaming, the YouTube service and stream key are correct, and the live preview has received the feed.
  • The playlist source is unavailable: The VLC Video source depends on VLC. Install VLC, restart OBS if needed, and recheck the source and playlist.
  • There is a gap or abrupt cut at the repeat point: Inspect the file’s beginning and end, then watch a full transition in the preview. Edit or prepare the media so the transition is acceptable before leaving the stream unattended.
  • The stream is interrupted after music begins: Check YouTube’s live-stream warning and resolve the rights issue. If you are licensed to use the matched material, contact the rights owner about allowlisting your channel; do not assume that a “free” label is sufficient permission.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you want the YouTube channel to keep playing uploaded flute recordings without leaving a computer or home connection on, StreamNeo runs the loop from the cloud. Upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It supports uploaded video playback, not a live camera feed.

  • Nothing has to stay on at home; the stream runs in the cloud.
  • Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot, without re-encoding or quality tiers.
  • Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free with no card required (one free day per account); the same product is included on every plan, with billing periods from a day to a year and cancellation any time.

The monthly option is $9.99 per month. Start the free day at StreamNeo registration.
