To loop Gurbani shabads in OBS for a continuous YouTube stream, prepare recordings and a visual you have permission to use, add them to an OBS scene, enable repeat playback using the control available in your installed OBS version, then send the scene to YouTube with its server URL and stream key. Keep OBS, the computer and the internet connection running, and monitor the broadcast in YouTube Live Control Room. The exact OBS loop control can vary by version; check it in your installation rather than relying on an unverified menu label.

Before you set up the stream

Confirm permission for the recordings

Devotional subject matter does not make a recording free to reuse. Make sure you have permission for the specific sound recordings and performances you plan to broadcast, and for any visual assets. A recording and the underlying composition or performance may involve different rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can replace the picture, interrupt the stream or terminate it. If you have a license, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be added to their Content ID allowlist to avoid an interruption (YouTube copyright guidance).

Prepare the program and visual

Choose the shabad recordings and decide whether the stream will show a still image, a simple title card or another cleared visual. Organize the audio in the order you want it to play. Test the files before going live so you can catch missing tracks, silence, abrupt transitions or an unexpectedly short playlist.

Check YouTube Live access

If this is your first live stream, enable live streaming in YouTube Studio ahead of time. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours (YouTube encoder setup guidance).

Set up a looping source in OBS

  1. Create a scene: In OBS, create or select a scene for the broadcast. Add the prepared visual, if you are using one.
  2. Add your shabad media: Add the audio or video files as a media source or sources, depending on how you prepared the program. The exact source controls and labels depend on the OBS version installed.
  3. Enable repeat playback: Find and enable the repeat or loop control for the source or playlist in your current OBS build. The official OBS help portal links to its Quick Start Guide and streaming documentation, but the specific loop control was not established in the available official guidance; verify the setting in your installed version rather than assuming a particular checkbox name (OBS Help).
  4. Preview and listen: Start playback in OBS and check the preview and audio mixer meters. Listen through the beginning and a playlist transition. Confirm the source repeats as intended before connecting to YouTube.

Connect OBS to YouTube and start the broadcast

  1. Create or select a live stream: In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create a stream or select the scheduled stream you intend to use.
  2. Copy the encoder details: Get YouTube’s server URL and stream key from the stream’s encoder setup. In OBS, open the streaming settings and enter the YouTube server URL and stream key, or use the available YouTube account connection flow. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your channel.
  3. Start sending from OBS: Start the stream in OBS. Follow the Live Control Room status and stream health indicators, then use YouTube’s controls to go live if the stream is scheduled or awaiting that step. The exact flow can depend on how the YouTube stream was created.
  4. Monitor the operation: For a 24/7 broadcast, OBS is running on your computer, so plan to keep the computer powered, prevent sleep, maintain a stable internet connection and check the stream periodically. OBS and YouTube do not guarantee uninterrupted operation; have a plan to restart the encoder and reconnect if the broadcast stops.

Plan for archives and interruptions

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a single uninterrupted stream longer than 12 hours will produce a complete archive. If you need a full recording of a continuous broadcast, plan separate recordings or another archive workflow. For copyright matches, check the Live Control Room and resolve the rights issue; licensed material may still interrupt a stream unless the rights holder has allowlisted your channel (YouTube live-stream copyright guidance).

Common problems and fixes

  • The stream does not repeat: Recheck the repeat or loop control in the OBS version you are using, then preview the source through the end of a track or playlist.
  • YouTube does not receive the stream: Confirm that OBS is using the server URL and stream key for the selected YouTube stream. Check that live streaming is enabled for the channel and that the key has not been mistyped or exposed.
  • The audio is silent or missing: Verify that the source is playing and that its audio reaches the OBS mixer meters. Check the source’s audio routing and listen to the program in the preview setup before going live.
  • The stream is interrupted by a copyright match: Review YouTube’s notice and contact the rights holder. If you have permission, ask whether the channel needs Content ID allowlisting; permission alone may not prevent an automated interruption.
  • The computer or connection stops: Local OBS streaming depends on the running computer and internet connection. Restore power or connectivity, restart OBS streaming if needed and verify the broadcast status in Live Control Room.
  • The expected archive is incomplete or absent: YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours. For a longer continuous session, use a separate recording or archive process.
