You can loop a regular YouTube playlist while watching, but YouTube does not have a viewer-side setting that changes the videos in a Live broadcast each day. If you own the channel and want a changing live feed, the daily rotation must come from the source or streaming workflow sending video to YouTube. If you only want to repeat a playlist, use YouTube’s Loop or Repeat control.
First, identify which kind of playlist you mean
| Your goal | Where the content change happens | What YouTube documents | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Repeat videos while watching | In YouTube’s viewer or player | YouTube Help documents Loop/Repeat for playlists; the embedded-player documentation describes loading a playlist and looping it. | This repeats existing playlist playback. It does not schedule content for a creator’s Live broadcast. |
| Change videos in your own Live feed | In the creator’s source, encoder, or streaming service | YouTube’s API documentation describes sending audio-video through a stream and associating broadcasts with that stream. | The cited YouTube documentation does not specify a daily file-rotation scheduler. |
The distinction matters: a playlist’s viewer-side Loop control affects playback on that device. A Live broadcast receives content from the creator’s streaming setup. For the official descriptions, see YouTube’s playlist loop instructions and Google’s overview of broadcasts and streams.
How to loop a regular YouTube playlist
On a computer or phone
- Open a video that belongs to the playlist you want to repeat.
- Expand the playlist panel.
- Select Loop in the playlist box. The playlist will repeat for your playback.
YouTube’s Help page documents these steps; button placement can vary by device and interface. Follow the labels shown for your device rather than assuming the control is in the same position everywhere.
On a TV or game console
- Open the playlist and bring up the playback controls.
- Select Repeat until the control indicates Repeat • Playlist.
For device-specific guidance, use YouTube’s Loop videos or playlists instructions.

For an embedded playlist
YouTube’s embedded-player parameters support loading a playlist with listType=playlist and its playlist ID in list. The loop parameter can repeat the entire playlist and start again at its first video. These parameters control embedded-player playback, not the content YouTube receives for a Live broadcast. See the YouTube Embedded Players and Player Parameters documentation.
How a creator can change videos in a YouTube Live feed
For a creator-owned broadcast, the video rotation has to happen before the feed reaches YouTube: a source or streaming service plays or schedules the files, and an encoder or comparable streaming workflow sends the resulting audio-video to YouTube. This is a practical consequence of YouTube’s documented stream-and-broadcast model, not a native YouTube playlist toggle.

Understand the stream and broadcast roles
- A
liveStreamresource represents the transmission setup and its settings. The encoder uses that setup to send audio-video to YouTube. - A
liveBroadcastrepresents the YouTube event or video viewers watch. - YouTube’s recurring-event API example uses separate broadcast resources for separate events, binds them to a stream, and allows each event to have unique video content while using the same streaming settings.
That model can help explain scheduled events, but it is not a recipe for automatically changing files every day within one continuous broadcast. YouTube’s broadcast-and-stream guide describes the API concepts and recurring-event example.
Plan the rotation outside YouTube
- Choose the behavior you actually need. Decide whether you want one continuous Live broadcast whose source changes daily, or separate scheduled broadcasts with different content. These are different workflows.
- Prepare the source rotation. Use a source, encoder, or streaming service that can play or schedule the video files in the desired order and provide a live feed. Confirm that the chosen tool supports your schedule and unattended operation; YouTube’s cited documentation does not prescribe a particular scheduler or encoder.
- Configure the YouTube stream and broadcast. Use YouTube’s Live setup and, if working with the API, configure the stream resource, create the broadcast resource or resources, and bind them as appropriate. The API’s documented automatic start/stop settings concern broadcast lifecycle behavior tied to the bound stream; they do not create a daily playlist rotation.
- Test the complete path. Verify that the source plays the intended file, that the encoder is sending its feed to the correct YouTube stream, and that the intended broadcast is live or scheduled. Do not assume transitions will be seamless: that depends on the chosen source and streaming workflow.
The LiveBroadcasts API reference describes a broadcast as one YouTube video and covers scheduled start and end times. If a scheduled end time is omitted, the API documentation says it is treated as continuing indefinitely. Those lifecycle settings do not turn a playlist into a daily content scheduler.

What YouTube does not do for this use case
- The viewer’s Loop/Repeat control repeats ordinary playlist playback; it does not alter the incoming content of a Live broadcast.
- The IFrame player’s
loopparameter concerns an embedded player, not Live ingestion. - YouTube’s cited API pages describe streams, broadcasts, scheduling, and lifecycle controls, but do not provide an end-to-end method for rotating local files daily inside one continuous Live event.
- The cited documentation does not prescribe hardware specifications or endorse a particular file-rotation tool.
