If you mean a playlist of live broadcasts or their replays, use YouTube’s playlist Loop/Repeat control. If you mean broadcasting your own video files live, use OBS’s Loop or Loop Playlist setting, then test the transitions in your actual setup.
First, which kind of YouTube Live playlist do you mean?
The phrase can refer to two different things: watching videos in a YouTube playlist, where some items may be live broadcasts or replays, or sending a playlist of local video files into a live broadcast. The controls differ, and neither official help page promises that separate videos will transition with no delay or interruption.

YouTube’s documented playlist instructions concern repeating items in a viewer playlist, not restarting an ongoing livestream or removing the transition between items. YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube.
Loop a playlist while watching YouTube
- Start a video that belongs to the playlist.
- On a computer or mobile device, expand the playlist and select Loop.
- On a TV or game console, open the playlist’s repeat control and select the playlist repeat option.
The control repeats playlist items as YouTube describes. It does not establish that a still-running live broadcast will restart, nor does it promise a gapless handoff between distinct videos. YouTube Help’s playlist looping instructions are the reference for the viewer-side steps.

Loop your own video files in OBS
Repeat one file
- In OBS, add a Media Source and select the local video file you want to play.
- Enable the source’s Loop setting so that the same file repeats when it reaches the end.
- Preview the transition at the end of the file and check the broadcast output, including audio, before relying on it for a live stream.
Cycle through multiple files
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source to appear.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source and add the local media files to its playlist.
- Enable Loop Playlist. OBS documents this as restarting the source after it has run through its media files.
- Preview the playlist from one file boundary through the next, and test the actual stream output with your encoder and media files.
OBS documents how to loop a Media Source and a VLC Video playlist, but not a guarantee of zero delay, black frames, or uninterrupted audio at file boundaries. Test your exact content and output before calling the result gapless. See OBS: Media Sources and the OBS Sources Guide.
Why a loop can still have a transition
- Looping means repeat behavior. The setting tells a source or playlist to run again; it is not a documented guarantee that the last frame of one file meets the first frame of the next without interruption.
- The YouTube viewer control has a different purpose. It repeats playlist items for the viewer; it is not a control for restarting an active broadcast.
- Your actual files and setup matter. Check both picture and sound at the boundary in the output you intend to stream. The cited documentation does not establish a universal setting that removes every possible transition.
