To keep one fireplace ambience video repeating on YouTube, open it and turn on Loop (called Repeat on many TVs and game consoles). To rotate through several scenes, loop a playlist instead. If you want playback to stop when meditation ends, set YouTube’s Sleep Timer.
Choose how you want the ambience to play

Loop and Autoplay do different jobs: Autoplay is not a way to repeat a particular fireplace video. YouTube’s help page says Autoplay may stop after 30 minutes of inactivity on mobile data or four hours on Wi-Fi. A separate “Video paused. Continue watching?” prompt may appear during Autoplay after 30 minutes on mobile, 60 minutes on the web, or 180 minutes on TV. These are YouTube’s help guidance as accessed on October 3, 2026; settings and behavior can change.
Loop a fireplace video on a computer or phone
- Open the fireplace ambience video on YouTube.
- Open the video player’s options or context menu and select Loop. On a computer, right-click the video to open its context menu; on mobile, use the player’s available menu controls.
- Let the video reach its end and confirm that it starts again.
YouTube describes the result simply: “The video will repeat continuously.” Menu placement can vary by app and device.
Repeat a video or playlist on a TV or game console
- Start the video or playlist in the YouTube app.
- Use the remote or controller to open the playback controls.
- Select Repeat. If the player offers a choice, select repeat for the current video or for the playlist, depending on what you want.
- Check the control’s indication to confirm whether it is repeating the video or the playlist. On some devices, Repeat is available through the player’s Settings.
TV and console menus differ, so look for the control named Repeat rather than expecting the same button position on every screen.

Loop an ambience playlist
- Open a fireplace or ambience playlist and start one of its videos.
- Enable the playlist’s Loop control in the player. On a computer or mobile device, YouTube Help describes enabling Loop from the playlist controls.
- Allow the playlist to reach its end and check that it starts again.
A playlist is useful when you want a series of fireplace scenes instead of hearing and seeing the same recording repeat. YouTube’s Culture & Trends team has highlighted multi-hour ambience videos, including fireplace scenes in cabins and libraries, and an ambience playlist. Availability of any individual video or playlist can change.
Set YouTube to stop after meditation
- Open the video player’s Settings.
- Select Sleep Timer.
- Choose how long playback should continue before YouTube pauses the video.
YouTube says a silent notification appears when playback pauses, and you can reset the timer if you want to continue. A timer is the more suitable choice when you want a defined end rather than ongoing playback.

Find a fireplace video that suits your session
Try searches such as “fireplace ambience,” “crackling fireplace,” “fireplace meditation,” or “fireplace ambience no music.” Before settling in, check the video’s duration and listen briefly to confirm its sound mix fits your session. YouTube reported that fireplace videos had their highest daily viewership on December 24 and 25 in 2023; that is a seasonal viewing observation, not evidence of a meditation or health benefit.
The reviewed YouTube sources do not establish that looping avoids every interruption, including network problems, ads, or account-specific prompts. Do not assume that a video will play uninterrupted all night.

Background playback and membership availability
On February 24, 2026, YouTube announced that background play and downloads were coming to Premium Lite, with a rollout over the following weeks in markets where Premium Lite is available. YouTube qualified the announcement: Premium Lite covers “most videos” for ad-free, offline, and background playback, while Premium remains the option for all videos, including music content, and YouTube Music Premium. Membership does not itself guarantee continuous playback. Check YouTube’s current terms and availability in your region.
If you are uploading your own fireplace video
For a video you create, use music that is public domain or that you have permission to use from the copyright owner. YouTube warns that a track described as “free” may still receive a Content ID claim. Its Audio Library and Creator Music are resources to consider for longer videos; check any third-party music license for the uses it permits. This matters to creators uploading ambience, not viewers simply playing an existing video.
