To loop a prerecorded dealership walkaround on YouTube Live, play the video or a playlist in an encoder such as OBS, enable the encoder’s repeat setting, and send its output to a YouTube stream using the stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s viewer-side replay control does not repeat footage in a live broadcast.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel that is eligible to livestream. YouTube’s current guidance says the channel must have no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days; enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance and live-stream eligibility requirements.
- A current video file or playlist showing vehicles you are authorized to feature, plus an encoder such as OBS and a reliable internet connection.
- A current inventory page or other contact destination to show viewers. Prerecorded footage can go stale as stock, prices, and availability change.
YouTube’s current help guidance lists a limit of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key. Treat these as platform limits, not recommended targets.
Prepare accurate, authorized walkaround footage
Refresh the video and its details
Record the footage with enough detail for viewers to see the vehicle condition, features, and identifying labels. Add a visible recording or update date and a link or prompt directing viewers to the dealership’s current inventory. If you include prices or availability in the video, remove or update them when they change. Make clear in the title, description, or on-screen text that the feed is prerecorded and repeating.
Check permissions and content rights
Use footage, music, narration, and other material the dealership has permission to use. YouTube requires live content to follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service; its general livestream guidance does not settle local rules or dealership policies about filming customers, employees, license plates, or vehicles. Check the applicable permissions and policies before publishing.

Set up a repeating video in OBS
- Enable livestreaming: In YouTube Studio, complete channel verification and enable live streaming. First-time access may take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s current encoder setup guidance.
- Create the broadcast: In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key from the stream settings.
- Add a single video in OBS: Create a scene, add a Media Source, choose the walkaround file, and enable Loop in the source properties. OBS documents support for formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM; verify that your chosen file plays correctly on the computer you will use.
- Or add a playlist: Add a VLC Video source, select the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. OBS requires VLC for this source; install it if needed, then confirm the playlist plays and repeats as intended.
- Connect OBS to YouTube: Open OBS Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter or connect the stream URL and key as prompted. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming.
- Preview before going live: Start streaming from OBS and check the preview in Live Control Room. Confirm the picture, framing, audio, title, and current inventory details before starting the public broadcast. Monitor the feed and chat while it runs.
Keep the stream key private: YouTube says stream keys are like a stream’s password and address. Do not show it on screen or share it publicly; if it is exposed, regenerate it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
Choose between a prerecorded loop and a live camera tour

YouTube supports encoder workflows with external video and audio hardware, including multi-camera productions. A camera accessory such as a gimbal is optional for capturing moving footage; it is not required to loop a file.

Plan for archives and interruptions
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not promise uninterrupted 24/7 operation, establish how a longer stream will be archived, or ensure that your encoder and network will remain active indefinitely. If the broadcast needs to stay available, define who will monitor it, how the stream will be restarted after an interruption, and how often the inventory footage will be reviewed. Test the process with the dealership’s equipment and connection.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The video ends instead of repeating: Reopen the OBS source properties and confirm Loop is enabled for a Media Source, or Loop Playlist for a VLC Video source.
- The playlist source is unavailable or will not play: Confirm VLC is installed, the playlist paths are accessible on the encoder computer, and each file plays before starting the stream.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Check that the stream URL and key in OBS match the current stream in Live Control Room. If the key was regenerated, replace the old one in OBS.
- Livestreaming is not available yet: Confirm channel verification and eligibility. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours; also check whether the channel has a live-streaming restriction within the past 90 days.
- The preview has no sound or the framing is wrong: Check the media source’s audio and video in OBS, then confirm both in Live Control Room before making the broadcast public.
- Vehicle details are no longer current: Stop or replace the loop, update the footage and overlays, and verify that the destination inventory page reflects current stock.
