To loop a prerecorded bhajan as a YouTube Live broadcast, add the local video file to OBS as a Media Source, enable its loop option, configure OBS with the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio, then start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview. For 4K at 60 fps, YouTube recommends 35 Mbps for AV1 or H.265/HEVC, or 50 Mbps for H.264. Those settings only make sense if your encoder and upload connection can sustain them.
What you need before you start
- A bhajan video file stored on the computer running OBS.
- An active YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says first-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable access well before the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- OBS and an upload connection that can reliably send the selected bitrate. Run a speed test and choose settings your connection can sustain, rather than relying on a brief peak result.
- Permission to livestream the specific music and video, including any planned archive. A devotional subject or a recording found online does not by itself establish that you have broadcast rights.
Prepare the YouTube Live event
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. If this is the channel’s first live broadcast, allow up to 24 hours for live access to activate.
- Open the stream settings and copy the stream URL and stream key. In OBS, choose YouTube as the streaming service if available, then enter the credentials in its streaming configuration. YouTube explains stream-key management in its Live Control Room settings guidance.
- Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your event. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio before continuing.
- Set the event’s privacy and archive choices in Live Control Room. YouTube allows public, private, or unlisted streams; check the selected setting before going live.
Add and loop the bhajan video in OBS
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene you will broadcast and select the bhajan video file stored on your computer.
- Open that source’s properties and enable its loop option. The exact label or placement can vary by installed OBS version, so confirm the control in the properties window. Loop the source in OBS—not a viewer’s YouTube playback—so the encoder keeps sending the video as a live feed.
- Check the video and audio in the OBS preview. Watch the end of the file transition back to the beginning and listen across the loop point for silence, abrupt cuts, or an unintended gap. If the source is not visible, confirm it is enabled in the scene and that the selected file path is valid.
Set OBS for 4K at 60 fps
YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends different ingest bitrates by codec for 4K/2160p at 60 fps. These are YouTube’s recommendations for the incoming stream, not a guarantee that a particular computer or connection can encode and deliver it reliably.

Source: YouTube Help, encoder settings (accessed 2026). Minimums are not the recommended targets; operating near a minimum leaves less room for connection variation. Codec availability depends on what your installed OBS encoder and hardware support.
- Set the output resolution to 3840×2160 and frame rate to 60 fps only if the source, encoder hardware, and connection can sustain them. If not, choose a lower resolution or frame rate that stays stable.
- For the selected codec, set bitrate encoding to CBR and use the matching 4K/60 recommendation in the table when your connection supports it.
- Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds. YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- For stereo audio, YouTube lists AAC or MP3, recommends 128 Kbps, and lists a 44.1 kHz sample rate. For SDR, use Rec. 709 and 8-bit color as stated in YouTube’s advanced settings guidance.
- YouTube recommends RTMPS. Where OBS offers a choice of ingest server or protocol, use the RTMPS option when available.
YouTube automatically detects encoder settings by default. If you need to select resolution manually, YouTube says to use a custom stream key with manual settings enabled. YouTube also transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for different devices and connection conditions. At 4K/2160, the improve-for-low-latency option is unavailable; YouTube uses normal latency.

Choose a codec your system can sustain
AV1/H.265 has a lower YouTube-recommended 4K/60 ingest bitrate than H.264, but that does not make it the right choice for every setup. Use a codec supported by your OBS encoder and hardware, then test it on the actual upload connection. YouTube recommends checking upload capacity and selecting a quality that remains reliable.
Start, test, and monitor the broadcast
- Start streaming in OBS, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages before making the event public.
- Test the specific bhajan file with representative movement and sound. Confirm the image is actually 4K/60 if that is the target, the audio is present, and the loop returns cleanly to the beginning.
- Make the event public only after the preview and sound are correct. Keep an eye on stream health while live and respond to warnings or interruptions.
YouTube’s encoder guidance puts the practical point plainly: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Its live-streaming tips also advise testing in advance and monitoring during the event.

Check music rights before broadcasting
Do not assume a bhajan is free to broadcast because it is traditional, devotional, available online, or used in in-person worship. Depending on the material and jurisdiction, rights may involve the composition, lyrics or translation, arrangement, and the particular sound recording or video. The status of any specific bhajan depends on its rights holders and permissions.
Get permission that covers the intended livestream, the YouTube platform, relevant territories, and any archive you plan to keep. YouTube says it scans live streams for third-party content, including other broadcasts. If it detects such material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop; leaving the material in place can lead to a temporary interruption or termination. YouTube also warns that a license may not prevent interruptions if your channel has not been added to the content owner’s allowlist. Ask the rights holder whether allowlisting is required. Troubleshoot common problems
The video plays once and stops
Reopen the Media Source properties in OBS and confirm looping is enabled. Check that the scene is still active and the local file remains accessible.
YouTube shows no picture or audio
Check that OBS is streaming to the intended event, that the Media Source is enabled and selected, and that the file’s audio is routed to the stream. Use the Live Control Room preview to distinguish a source or scene problem from a YouTube event problem.

The stream is unstable or drops frames
The configured bitrate may be too high for the available upload capacity, or the encoder may be struggling with the resolution and frame rate. Run a speed test, lower the output settings or bitrate to a level the system can maintain, and test again before going public. A recommended bitrate is not useful if the connection cannot sustain it.
The stream key does not connect
Check that OBS has the correct stream URL and key for the event you created in Live Control Room. If the key was exposed or may be wrong, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the replacement.

The broadcast is interrupted over licensed music
Contact the relevant rights holder to confirm that the permission covers live streaming and ask whether your channel needs to be allowlisted. A license by itself may not prevent YouTube from interrupting detected third-party content.
