To limit Siri’s access, adjust the setting for each app under Settings > Siri > App Access, then review Health access, wake-phrase listening, interaction-sample sharing, and Siri AI conversation retention separately. These controls cover different kinds of data; no single switch addresses them all. The paths below follow Apple’s iOS 27 guide, and labels may differ on older versions.
Stop Siri from learning how you use individual apps
- Open Settings > Siri > App Access.
- Tap an app.
- Turn off Learn from this App to stop Siri learning how you use that app for suggestions. Apple says app suggestions are on by default. Apple’s Siri settings guide notes that options can vary by app and Siri version.
In the same app’s settings, review display options such as Show on Home Screen, Suggest App, and Suggestion Notifications, where available. Turning off learning is not necessarily the same as hiding every suggestion or removing every form of app access: Siri can use app access to find information and suggest actions.
Turn off Siri access to Health data
Go to Settings > Apps > Health > Siri or Apple Intelligence & Siri > Learn from this App, then switch it off. Siri may ask you to turn access back on if you make a request that requires Health data. Apple describes this separate Health permission in its Siri and Health data guidance.
Apple distinguishes recognized Health requests from other requests: when Siri recognizes a request as one to read or write Health data, Apple says that Health data is not stored or made accessible to Apple. If Siri does not recognize the request as a Health-data request, default handling applies, and health information included in the request is sent to Apple servers. That distinction means the setting should not be read as a promise that every health-related phrase stays on the iPhone.

Apple’s cited availability information lists iOS 17.2 or later and supported device and language requirements for Siri Health requests, including Siri language set to English (United States) or Mandarin Chinese (China mainland). Availability can vary, so check Apple’s current compatibility details for your device and language.
Stop the iPhone from listening for “Siri” or “Hey Siri”
On the iOS 27 path documented by Apple, open Settings > Siri > Requests > Siri or Hey Siri and select Off. Apple says the iPhone then does not listen for those wake phrases. This disables voice activation; it does not change app permissions, Health access, or other Siri data settings. See Apple’s Siri settings guide for the current labels.

Opt out of sharing Siri and Dictation interaction samples
On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements and turn off Improve Siri & Dictation. Apple says you can change this setting at any time. When enabled, it permits Apple to store and review samples of Siri, Dictation, and Translate interactions, including audio, transcripts, and related request data. Apple says the samples use a random, device-generated identifier rather than your Apple Account or email address; Apple employees review audio, while graders may review a subset of non-audio samples. Manage or delete Siri AI conversation history
For Siri AI conversations, Apple provides deletion controls in the Siri app and a retention setting at Settings > Siri > Keep Conversations. You can delete conversations individually or in groups. Choosing 30 days or 1 year permanently deletes conversations older than the selected period, according to Apple’s Siri conversation guidance.

On supported iOS 27 devices, Apple also documents switching off Siri AI and returning to Siri Classic, as well as disabling individual features such as summaries. Availability varies by feature and region; see Apple’s Apple Intelligence guidance for current options.
Understand where Apple Intelligence requests are processed
Apple says many Apple Intelligence models run on device. More complex requests may use Private Cloud Compute; Apple’s stated design is that only data relevant to the request is processed there and it is not stored or made accessible to Apple. This is Apple’s description of how processing works, not a per-app permission switch.
To review Private Cloud Compute activity, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Intelligence Report. Choose a report period of the last 15 minutes (the default) or the last 7 days, then export the report. Apple notes it may be empty if no requests have occurred since the report duration was changed.
