Yes. Hostinger AI Builder can sell recurring subscriptions in agentic mode through Hostinger Ecommerce, with Stripe as the supported payment provider. You can ask the builder’s chat to create subscription products, prices, and billing cycles, then manage those plans in Store Manager. Customers must create an account before buying, and their account area can expose invoices, payment management, plan changes, and cancellation.
If you need a bespoke membership database or business rules, use the documented custom Stripe sequence: publish the project and connect its domain, add database-backed authentication, create a recurring Stripe price, keep keys on the server, process Stripe webhooks, and grant premium access only while the subscription is active. Manual mode does not provide native recurring billing; its documented workaround is a Stripe Payment Link or Checkout URL attached to a button or text link.
Which Stripe subscription setup should you choose?
There are three practical designs. The first is the native subscription feature in an agentic-mode site connected to Hostinger Ecommerce. The second is a custom Stripe integration generated inside an agentic-mode project. The third is a manual-mode site that sends visitors to Stripe-hosted checkout. They solve different problems, so choosing the route before building prevents a site that takes payment but cannot reliably recognize subscribers.
| Implementation | Best for | Subscription-state handling | Customer controls | Main constraints |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Agentic mode + Hostinger Ecommerce | A standard subscription product with Hostinger’s store workflow | Handled through the connected ecommerce subscription feature | Account-based access, including invoice viewing, payment management, upgrades and cancellation | Stripe is the only supported provider in the documented feature; free trials are not supported; an account is required before purchase |
| Agentic mode + custom Stripe integration | A membership or application that needs its own user records, entitlement rules or premium features | Your database is synchronized by Stripe webhooks | You can add a Stripe Customer Portal link for payment methods, invoices, upgrades and cancellation | Requires server-side keys, an Express webhook route, event handling and access checks |
| Manual mode + Stripe Payment Link or Checkout URL | A simple page that sends buyers to external recurring checkout | The page itself is not a documented native subscription system | Stripe handles the external payment experience | Manual mode has no native recurring billing in the documented store options; you must link the Stripe URL yourself |
For most businesses starting a conventional paid plan, begin with the native agentic-mode option. Choose the custom route when a user’s subscription must unlock features in your own application and your database needs a reliable, event-driven status. Use manual mode only when an external Stripe checkout link is sufficient.

What native subscriptions in agentic mode include
Hostinger AI Builder’s agentic mode connects to Hostinger Ecommerce, which supplies the native recurring-subscription workflow. Stripe is the only payment provider supported for this feature at the time covered by Hostinger’s documentation; other providers are not available in that workflow.
Plans, prices and billing cycles
After connecting Hostinger Ecommerce, add the AI Builder site as a sales channel. In the AI Builder chat, ask it to create a subscription-based product. Your prompt should state the plan names, recurring prices and billing cycles you want. The resulting plans can be edited later in the connected Store Manager, so you do not have to rebuild the site when a price or cycle changes.
Keep each plan’s customer-facing name and its entitlement clear. For example, distinguish a monthly plan from an annual plan rather than relying on a generic “Subscribe” label. The builder can create the product structure, while Store Manager is the place to revise the connected plan details.

Customers must create an account before purchasing a native subscription. Treat registration as part of the checkout journey, not as an optional enhancement. Explain why the account is needed: it associates the recurring purchase with the customer’s profile and provides the place where billing information and plan controls can be reached.
What subscribers can do after purchase
The resulting customer portal supports invoice viewing, payment management, plan upgrades and cancellation. Those controls answer the routine requests that otherwise become support tickets. Make the portal easy to find in the signed-in area and describe cancellation plainly; hiding a cancellation control creates unnecessary friction even when the underlying feature exists.
Important native-feature limits
- Stripe is the only supported payment provider for the documented native subscription feature.
- Free trials for these subscription plans are not supported in the cited Hostinger documentation.
- Customers must create an account before purchasing.
If a free trial is essential, or if access depends on rules more detailed than a plan’s subscription state, the native feature may not match the requirement. Evaluate the custom Stripe route instead, and document any trial or entitlement behavior you implement there rather than implying that the native product supports it.
Set up the native Hostinger Ecommerce subscription
- Connect Hostinger Ecommerce. In the AI Builder project, connect the ecommerce service that will hold the subscription product.
- Add the site as a sales channel. Make the AI Builder project the storefront or sales channel for the connected store.
- Prompt AI Builder to create the subscription product. Specify each plan, its recurring price and its billing cycle. Ask for a clear subscription purchase flow and account sign-in.
- Review the generated storefront. Check that plan names, prices, cycles and account prompts are understandable before publishing.
- Edit plans in Store Manager when needed. Use the connected Store Manager to change the subscription plan details rather than creating duplicate products in the site.
- Explain the portal to customers. Link signed-in customers to the area where they can view invoices, manage payment details, upgrade and cancel.
This route is the shortest path when the ecommerce subscription model is enough. It avoids building your own webhook-driven membership state, but it does not remove the documented provider, account and trial limitations.

Build a custom Stripe subscription integration in agentic mode
A custom integration is appropriate when payment status must control premium features in an application you own. Hostinger’s documented sequence is important: the project needs a public, stable address before Stripe is configured, and Stripe needs an API endpoint that can receive subscription events.
1. Publish the project and connect a custom domain first
Publish the AI Builder project and connect its custom domain before creating the Stripe account for this integration. This gives the checkout and webhook configuration a stable destination. If you change domains later, revisit every Stripe URL and environment setting that refers to the old address.
2. Add database-backed registration and login
Ask AI Builder to create sign-up and login backed by a database. A custom subscription system needs a durable user record, not just a browser-side flag. The record is where your application can associate a signed-in person with a Stripe customer and store the current subscription state.
Keep the identity flow separate from payment confirmation. A user can register without paying, and a payment event can arrive after checkout; your application should connect those events through the authenticated user and the Stripe customer identifier rather than assuming that a successful browser redirect proves payment.
3. Create a recurring product and save the price ID
In Stripe, create the product and a recurring price for the plan. Save the resulting price_... identifier. The price ID, rather than a display name typed into a page, tells Stripe which recurring amount and interval to use when a checkout session is created.
4. Keep API keys in server-side environment variables
Store the publishable key and secret API key in secure server-side environment variables. The secret key must never be placed in page code, sent to the browser or committed to the project. Client code may start a request to your server, but your server is responsible for calling Stripe with the secret credential.
5. Ask AI Builder for an Express webhook route
Have AI Builder create an Express API route dedicated to Stripe webhooks. Webhooks are how Stripe communicates with your project’s API server. The route should receive Stripe’s event payload, verify it using the webhook signing secret, and then update the matching user record. Verification prevents an arbitrary request from claiming that someone paid.

6. Register the subscription events your database needs
Register at least these Stripe events, which Hostinger’s guide identifies for the integration:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →checkout.session.completed— associates a completed checkout with the user and Stripe customer.customer.subscription.updated— keeps changes such as a plan update or status change synchronized.customer.subscription.deleted— records that the subscription has ended so access is not left active.
Process events so repeated deliveries do not create contradictory records. Stripe can communicate with your server independently of the customer’s browser, so the webhook handler is the source for ongoing subscription changes.
7. Create checkout sessions on the server
Add a server-side operation that creates a Stripe Checkout Session using the saved recurring price ID. The signed-in user’s request should reach your server; the server should look up that user, call Stripe with the secret key, and return the checkout destination. Save the resulting stripe_customer_id when the customer is created or confirmed, then use that identifier for later synchronization.
Do not trust a price, amount or customer identifier supplied only by the browser. Resolve the allowed plan from your server-side configuration and associate the session with the authenticated account before sending the customer to Stripe.
8. Add the Upgrade action and enforce access on the server
Place an Upgrade button or equivalent call to action in the signed-in application. After checkout, grant premium access only to users whose synchronized subscription is active. Check the status when a user signs in and whenever a premium feature is requested, rather than unlocking the feature permanently after the first checkout redirect.

This check matters because a subscription can later be canceled, deleted or changed. The webhook updates your database, and the sign-in or feature request reads that current record. If the record is unavailable or stale, fail closed for the protected feature and provide a path to refresh the billing state instead of granting access indefinitely.
9. Add the Stripe Customer Portal (optional)
For self-service billing, ask AI Builder to add a server-generated route that creates a Stripe Customer Portal session for a paid user. Link to that route from the account area. The portal can handle payment methods, invoices, upgrades and cancellation without you recreating those screens.

Generate the portal session on the server after checking the signed-in user’s stored Stripe customer ID. Never let one user request a portal session for another user’s customer ID.
10. Test the complete lifecycle before launch
- Register a new account and verify that the database user exists before checkout.
- Start checkout with the configured recurring price and confirm that the correct plan is shown.
- Confirm that the completion event stores the Stripe customer association and active subscription state.
- Sign in again and request a premium feature; verify that access follows the stored active status.
- Change the subscription and confirm that the updated event changes the local record.
- Cancel the subscription and confirm that the deleted event removes premium access according to your policy.
- Open the Customer Portal and check invoice, payment-method, upgrade and cancellation controls.
- Inspect server logs for rejected signatures, missing customer IDs and duplicate event deliveries.
How webhook-backed access should work
A reliable custom integration has two separate flows. The checkout flow starts when an authenticated visitor selects a plan and your server creates a Stripe Checkout Session. The billing flow continues after checkout, when Stripe sends events to your Express route. Your database then becomes the application’s local record of which account is associated with which Stripe customer and what subscription state Stripe last reported.
The browser redirect after payment is useful for showing a confirmation page, but it is not a replacement for webhook processing. A customer may close the tab, lose connectivity or return to the site later. Conversely, subscription changes can occur in the Stripe portal without a page visit. Reading the database at sign-in and at each premium request makes access follow the billing state rather than a one-time front-end action.
Manual mode: the Stripe-link workaround
Manual mode does not have native recurring billing in the documented Hostinger store options. The supported workaround is external Stripe checkout:
- Create a recurring Stripe product and price.
- Generate a Stripe Payment Link or Stripe Checkout URL for that recurring price.
- Add a button or text link in the AI Builder page that sends visitors to that URL.
- Explain on the page that payment and recurring-billing management occur through Stripe.
This is suitable for a landing page or a simple offer where the site does not need to unlock application features from a synchronized subscription record. It is not equivalent to the custom agentic integration: a link alone does not create the documented database-backed account association, webhook updates or in-app entitlement checks.
Common failure points and their fixes
The wrong payment provider appears
For native Hostinger Ecommerce subscriptions, Stripe is the supported provider. If you need another provider, do not keep searching for a hidden native setting; use a separately designed payment integration or choose a different platform.
A customer reaches checkout without an account
Native subscriptions require account creation before purchase. Put sign-up and sign-in in the purchase path and test the flow as a first-time visitor. For a custom integration, require authentication before your server creates a checkout session so the completed session can be associated with a real user.

Premium access remains after cancellation
Check that your webhook route receives and verifies customer.subscription.deleted, updates the user record, and that premium endpoints read that record. A front-end “success” flag cannot represent the full subscription lifecycle.
Stripe reports events but the site does not update
Check the published domain, webhook destination, server-side environment variables, signing-secret verification and event logs. Confirm that the handler can find the stored Stripe customer ID and that it safely handles repeated deliveries. A route that only displays a success page is not a webhook implementation.
The checkout plan is incorrect
Ensure the server uses the intended recurring price_... ID from Stripe. Do not accept an unrestricted price ID from the browser; map the visible plan choice to an allowed server-side configuration.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Customers cannot find billing controls
For native subscriptions, link clearly to the signed-in customer portal. For a custom integration, add the server-generated Stripe Customer Portal route and make it available from the account area. The portal is where customers can view invoices, manage payment methods, upgrade and cancel.
A free-trial promise conflicts with the product
Free trials are not supported for the documented native subscription plans. Remove trial language from the native offer, or design and document a custom Stripe workflow whose trial behavior you control; do not present a native trial control that the product does not provide.
A practical launch decision
- Choose native agentic mode when you want Hostinger Ecommerce to provide recurring plans and the standard account portal, and you can accept Stripe-only payments, mandatory accounts and no documented free trials.
- Choose a custom agentic integration when subscription state must unlock your own premium features, you need database records and webhook synchronization, or you want to tailor the application’s billing experience.
- Choose manual mode when a Stripe Payment Link or Checkout URL is enough and your page does not need native recurring-billing state.
The key distinction is not whether Stripe can collect a recurring payment—it can in all three designs—but whether your Hostinger project owns a reliable subscription state. Native agentic mode supplies the integrated store workflow; custom agentic mode lets your application synchronize Stripe events and enforce entitlements; manual mode supplies an external checkout link with the fewest moving parts and the least in-app control.
