First find out where the repeat is happening. If you are watching a video or playlist, turn off YouTube’s player Repeat or Loop control. If you are broadcasting prerecorded gameplay as a live stream, change the repeat setting for the active media source or playlist in your encoder. An embedded video may instead be looping because of its player parameters.
Find the source of the repeat
A viewer’s Repeat control affects playback in the YouTube app or site. It does not control a creator’s live feed: an encoder sends its configured video to YouTube using a stream URL and key. An embedded player has its own configuration too.

Turn off repeat while watching YouTube
On a computer
- Open the video on YouTube.
- Open the video player’s context menu and turn off Loop.
- If the video is playing from a playlist, inspect the playlist’s repeat control too. Turning off a single-video loop does not necessarily stop the playlist from starting again.
On a TV or gaming console
- Open the playback controls or the player’s Settings.
- Find Repeat and switch it off. Check whether the control applies to the current item or the playlist.
YouTube Help describes the feature this way: “You can play a video or playlist on repeat by looping it.” The available controls can vary by device and app version.
Stop a prerecorded gaming feed from repeating
If you are the creator and the same gameplay file restarts during a live broadcast, the setting to check is in the encoder or playback source that is sending the video—not the YouTube viewer’s Loop control. YouTube’s live-stream setup uses the configured stream URL and key to receive content from an encoder.

- Identify whether the encoder is playing one video file or a playlist.
- Check that the intended file or playlist is the active source.
- Turn off that source’s or playlist’s repeat/loop behavior in the encoder.
- Check the encoder’s outgoing preview to confirm that the source does not restart as expected.
Encoder menus differ, and the steps above do not assume a particular app or version. If you cannot find the setting, identify your encoder and version before following app-specific instructions; the relevant control belongs to the source or playlist configuration.
Check an embedded YouTube player
If repetition happens only on a website containing an embedded video, the site’s player configuration may be requesting it. In YouTube’s IFrame Player API, looping a single video uses loop=1 together with playlist set to that same video’s ID. The site owner should review those parameters and remove or change the loop configuration as needed.

If it still repeats
- It restarts in the YouTube app or site: check both the current video’s Loop setting and the playlist’s repeat setting.
- It restarts in a live broadcast: check the encoder’s active file or playlist and its repeat behavior; viewer playback controls will not change the incoming feed.
- It restarts only on one website: ask the site owner to review the embedded player’s loop and playlist parameters.
- The relevant control is missing: note the device, app or encoder, and version. The available instructions vary, and one set of steps cannot be assumed to fit every interface.
