If you mean watching a YouTube playlist, turn on Loop in the playlist controls. If you mean keeping your channel’s live broadcast supplied with podcast episodes, the viewer’s Loop button will not do that: your encoder must keep sending audio and video. Loop the source in your streaming setup, or schedule the prerecorded playlist through a cloud service.
First, identify which kind of loop you need
Repeat a playlist while watching
Open the playlist in YouTube and select Loop in the playlist controls. YouTube documents separate playback controls for computers and mobile devices, and for TVs and consoles. This repeats playback for the viewer; it does not send the playlist to your channel as a live broadcast. See YouTube’s instructions for looping playlists.
Keep a creator-run live stream going
A live broadcast needs a continuing audio-video feed from an encoder. YouTube’s encoder instructions say, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” Starting or scheduling a broadcast is not enough if the encoder stops supplying media. The viewer-side playlist Loop control does not feed your live stream.
Keep the feed going from your own equipment
- Create or schedule the YouTube live broadcast. In YouTube Studio, set up the live stream and obtain its stream URL and stream key. Treat the key as a password: do not publish or share it. Connect your streaming software or compatible hardware encoder using YouTube’s stream settings. YouTube explains the encoder workflow in its live-streaming instructions.
- Configure a continuous media source. Queue the podcast episodes in the encoder workflow and ensure the source continues after the final episode—by repeating the media or playlist if the software or device supports it. A media playlist must keep providing valid media; YouTube’s HLS ingestion documentation describes media playlists and segments used to form a decodable stream.
- Check the entire chain before relying on it. Confirm that the source advances through the final episode and starts again, the encoder remains connected, and the computer, power, and internet connection stay available. A loop at the media-player level is not enough if the encoder or connection stops.
- Monitor the broadcast and its end behavior. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That rule does not establish that one broadcast can remain open indefinitely. Plan around the intended stream length and archive behavior, and distinguish continuous content delivery from the lifespan of a single broadcast.
YouTube’s API makes the same distinction in its resource model: a liveStream contains settings for transmitting audio and video, while a liveBroadcast represents the broadcast itself. In practical terms, the broadcast page and the continuing encoder feed are separate parts of the setup. See the Live Streaming API documentation.

Limits of a local setup
A computer-based setup depends on the media source, encoder, power, and upload connection all continuing to work. If any stops, the feed may stop. Hardware encoders are a documented way to send a YouTube stream, but confirm that a specific model can play and repeat your podcast files unattended and recover after a disconnect; compatibility with YouTube alone does not establish those capabilities. OBS is also an encoder option, but check its current documentation for playlist and unattended-operation behavior rather than relying on old community guidance.
Run prerecorded episodes from the cloud instead
For a scheduled prerecorded playlist, Restream’s help page describes assembling existing videos into a playlist, ordering them, and scheduling the stream. Restream says the stream can run automatically while the laptop is unplugged. That is the provider’s description, not an independent reliability test; check its current plan limits, YouTube availability, and account requirements before choosing it.

Troubleshoot a stream that stops at the last episode
- The broadcast ends when the playlist ends: the source likely reached its final item instead of repeating. Check the repeat or playlist behavior in the source and verify the transition by watching the encoder output.
- YouTube shows no incoming content: check that the encoder is still running and that it is connected with the correct stream URL and key. YouTube requires continuing encoder content for the live feed.
- The feed drops when you leave: a local setup relies on the machine and network staying active. Check power settings, sleep behavior, encoder status, and the upload connection.
- The broadcast does not stay open as long as expected: do not assume a single broadcast can run indefinitely. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; plan for the broadcast’s duration separately from whether your source can loop.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Before streaming podcast episodes, make sure you have the rights needed for every part of each recording, including music, clips, and other material. A playlist that can technically repeat is not necessarily cleared for repeated public streaming. Review YouTube’s current copyright and monetization policies for your channel and content; this article does not establish that any particular podcast is eligible to stream or monetize.
