You can use datarhei Restreamer to publish a Hindi video source to YouTube, but its current YouTube guide does not document a built-in playlist builder or loop switch. To keep a playlist repeating in a live broadcast, first configure the media source or player feeding Restreamer to play the files in order and repeat them; then publish that source through Restreamer’s Publication Service using the YouTube stream ID. YouTube’s Loop control only repeats playback for an individual viewer—it does not make a live source loop.
First, identify which “Restreamer” you mean
The name can refer to different products, and their playlist features are not interchangeable:
- datarhei Restreamer is self-hosted software that publishes a video source to YouTube through its Publication Service. The official guide describes connecting a source and entering a valid YouTube streaming ID; it does not establish a built-in playlist loop. datarhei’s YouTube publication guide was last updated three years ago, so controls may vary by installed version.
- Restream cloud’s Upload & Stream is a separate hosted product for scheduling uploaded videos and playlists. Its help pages say a single prerecorded video can be looped, but playlists cannot be looped as playlists.
- YouTube’s playlist Loop control is for a viewer repeating a playlist in the YouTube player, not for configuring a live broadcast source.
The steps below are for datarhei Restreamer. If you mean Restream cloud, skip to the separate cloud-product section.
How to loop a Hindi playlist with datarhei Restreamer
The essential setup has two parts: make the video source repeat independently, then publish that source to YouTube. The source-side playlist setup depends on the player or media configuration used in your installation; the current Restreamer YouTube guide does not specify how to build it.

- Prepare the Hindi videos and their order. Arrange the files in the sequence you want viewers to hear and watch. Use a source/player or upstream media setup that plays them in sequence and starts again at the end. Confirm that this source itself repeats before connecting it to YouTube. Restreamer’s reviewed YouTube guide does not document a playlist builder or a loop toggle.
- Create a YouTube live event and obtain its stream ID/key. Use YouTube’s live-streaming workflow for the event, then copy the valid streaming ID/key needed for publication. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your broadcast.
- Configure publication in datarhei Restreamer. Open Publication Service, select or configure YouTube publication for your installed version, enter the valid streaming ID, and save. The documented workflow is to start the stream and check the corresponding YouTube live event. See the official YouTube guide for the product’s publication overview.
- Check the live event before leaving it unattended. Verify that the stream is live and that the source advances through the Hindi playlist and returns to its beginning. If it stops after one pass, the source/player is not repeating; changing YouTube’s viewer-side Loop control will not fix the broadcast.
- End the broadcast in the recommended order. The Restreamer documentation advises ending the stream on YouTube first. It warns that if Restreamer is interrupted first, YouTube may not save the live stream in the DVR archive.
Restreamer can run on different systems; the project mentions single-board computers such as Raspberry Pi and GPU-powered systems as examples, not as required or validated hardware for a particular playlist configuration. See the project’s installation information for deployment context. Exact controls and setup depend on the installed version and source arrangement.
Why YouTube’s Loop button does not loop your live source
YouTube documents Loop as a playback control for people watching a video or playlist. A viewer can open a playlist panel and choose Loop to repeat that playlist on their own device. The control does not reach back to the source feeding a live event, so it cannot make a Restreamer-published broadcast restart or repeat. If you meant Restream cloud’s Upload & Stream
Restream cloud has different documented behavior from datarhei Restreamer. According to its help page dated March 11, 2026, its paid video-looping feature applies to recordings and uploaded videos: when scheduling a prerecorded video, choose the number of loops. It supports up to 10 loops and a maximum stream duration of 40 hours. The page says playlists do not currently support looping as a playlist. Restream’s documented workaround is to duplicate the desired videos within the playlist. Its playlist article, dated July 25, 2026, states a limit of 40 videos and a total playlist duration of up to 24 hours. It lists Upload & Stream add-on tiers as Marathon and Media, with requirements and storage varying by tier. These feature limits and plan details can change; check the current playlist help page and current plan information before relying on them.

Common problems and fixes
- The live event ends after one pass: The repeating behavior must come from the source/player or upstream setup. Check that it plays each file in sequence and restarts at the end before troubleshooting YouTube publication.
- The event is not receiving video: Check that the YouTube streaming ID/key belongs to the intended event, was entered correctly in Publication Service, and that publication has been saved and started. Do not share the key publicly.
- The controls do not match a guide: The current datarhei YouTube guide is marked as last updated three years ago, and the exact UI can depend on version and installation. A separate guide for Restreamer 0.6.x is explicitly deprecated; do not treat its older RTMP steps as the current interface walkthrough. Check the documentation for your installed version.
- The YouTube DVR archive is missing the broadcast: Follow the documented shutdown order and end the stream on YouTube before interrupting Restreamer.
- You expected the YouTube playlist Loop button to affect the broadcast: That button only repeats viewer playback. Configure repetition at the media source instead.

Can I use YouTube’s Loop control to make my Restreamer live stream repeat?
No. YouTube’s Loop control repeats playback for a viewer; it does not configure the source of a live broadcast.
