To keep a Hindi songs livestream running through Windows updates, prevent Windows from restarting during your planned broadcast hours, then verify the encoder and YouTube stream after any required reboot. OBS’s automatic reconnect can help with a dropped internet connection while OBS is open; it cannot reopen OBS or restore a stream after Windows restarts. If the stream must remain unattended, plan a person-verified restart or use a cloud service that keeps the uploaded playlist running independently of your PC.
Why Windows updates can take a 24/7 stream offline
A Windows update may require a restart to finish installing. When the computer restarts, OBS or another encoder stops running along with the rest of the applications. Windows active hours and restart scheduling can help move that interruption to a chosen time, but a channel that is live all day has no naturally idle period. Updates cannot be postponed indefinitely, so plan maintenance rather than assuming the stream will never be interrupted. Prepare Windows and YouTube before the next update
Choose a maintenance window
- Open Settings > Windows Update and review Active hours. Set hours that cover the time you most need the broadcast to stay online.
- When an update is ready and Windows offers restart scheduling, choose a time when an interruption is acceptable. For a truly continuous channel, announce or schedule maintenance and arrange for someone to check the broadcast afterward.
- Use Pause updates only as a temporary scheduling measure. Do not treat pausing as a permanent way to keep Windows from restarting.
- If this is a managed or business PC, follow the applicable administrator policy. Consumer settings may not control restart behavior set by an organization. Microsoft documents managed-device restart policies in Manage device restarts after updates.
Check the YouTube event and stream key
- In YouTube Studio > Create > Go live, open the relevant stream or scheduled event in Live Control Room. Check the stream key and stream URL configured in your encoder against the intended destination. YouTube describes encoder setup in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Review that stream’s Enable auto-start and Enable auto-stop settings. These affect how YouTube handles encoder connections; do not assume reconnecting the encoder will resume the same broadcast in the way you intend. See Manage live stream settings.
- Treat the stream key like a password. If it is exposed, reset it and update the encoder configuration before going live again.
Set OBS reconnect for connection drops—not PC restarts
In OBS, open Settings > Advanced > Network and enable automatic reconnection. Set a retry delay and maximum retries appropriate for your connection, then confirm the controls available in your installed OBS version. Automatic reconnect is useful when OBS remains open but loses its connection; after a Windows reboot, OBS is no longer running, so reconnect cannot start it. If drops recur, inspect OBS logs and investigate the connection using OBS’s Stream Connection Troubleshooting guidance.
Test the full broadcast before leaving it unattended
Do a test run using the intended encoder, event, playlist, and audio sources. If you need to validate post-restart behavior, use a private or unlisted test event where available and verify it with the exact Windows and OBS versions you use.

- Confirm the Live Control Room preview shows the correct video and that audio is audible.
- Check YouTube’s stream-health messages and the public watch page after going live.
- If local recording is part of your recovery plan, verify that the archive file exists and is growing.
- If you have a backup encoder, test that it can reach the intended YouTube event and that someone can verify the switch. Do not assume failover is seamless for every configuration.
- Check the complete playlist, including transitions, levels, and any visuals, rather than testing only the first track.
YouTube recommends monitoring the stream, checking the preview and stream health, testing failover, and checking local archives in its YouTube live streaming tips and encoder settings guidance. For encoder resolution and bitrate, choose settings your upload connection can sustain, test them in advance, and monitor the health indicator; do not increase bitrate simply because the playlist contains high-resolution files. YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance covers those choices.
What to do after Windows restarts
- Wait for Windows to finish installing updates, then confirm the computer has internet access.
- Open OBS or your chosen encoder. Check that it has loaded the intended profile, scene, playlist, audio source, and YouTube destination; start the encoder if it has not started automatically.
- Check Live Control Room for incoming video and audio, then verify playback on the watch page. Do not take an OBS reconnect indicator as proof that the PC rebooted into a working broadcast.
- If the previous YouTube event has ended or cannot be resumed, use your channel’s prepared procedure to create or start a new event. Confirm the stream key and auto-start/auto-stop settings for that event.
- Review the archive and stream status. Investigate any YouTube warning or copyright notice before sending the same material again.
Can you make OBS restart and resume automatically?
There is no single verified recipe that works across Windows versions, OBS installations, accounts, and YouTube event configurations. An automated setup would need to start the right OBS profile and scene, load the correct media and audio, authenticate the intended account or use the configured stream key, and connect to an event that is still usable. OBS automatic reconnect alone does none of that after a full operating-system reboot.

If you build your own startup automation, validate every part after a real reboot against your specific setup, using a private or unlisted test event. Keep a person available to confirm that audio is playing and the correct event is live. For managed machines, check restart policies with the administrator rather than assuming a local script overrides them.
Copyright matters for Hindi music livestreams
A Hindi song recording is not automatically cleared for livestreaming because you bought it, credit the singer, or found it labeled “free.” You need the necessary rights for the music and any visuals. YouTube’s Livestream Terms and Conditions place responsibility on the provider to have necessary rights, including music licensing rights. YouTube also says live streams are scanned for third-party matches; identified content can lead to temporary interruption or termination. Even a broadcaster with a license may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID.
