Yes. An Android user can join an Apple-hosted FaceTime call without installing FaceTime and without signing in with an Apple Account. An iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac participant creates a FaceTime invitation link and sends it to you. You open that link in the latest Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, enter a name, approve browser access to your camera and microphone, tap Join, and wait for the host to admit you.
What Android support for FaceTime actually means
FaceTime on Android is a browser-based guest experience. It is not a downloadable Android version of FaceTime, and it does not let an Android device create its own FaceTime invitation. The Apple-device participant remains the host: they generate the link, distribute it, and control admission to the call.
Once admitted, the Android participant can take part in the audio and video conversation and use the core controls documented for FaceTime on the web. The browser route is the reason no Apple Account, Apple hardware, or FaceTime app is required on the Android side.
Requirements before you try to join
Have these items ready before opening the invitation:

- An Android phone or tablet with a working front or rear camera and microphone.
- A strong Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection. Video calls are sensitive to weak or unstable service, so move to a location with better reception if the preview freezes or audio breaks up.
- The latest available version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. FaceTime’s web guest flow is documented for those browsers.
- A FaceTime invitation link created by someone using an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac.
- Permission for the browser to use your microphone and camera. Android will ask for these permissions when the FaceTime page requests them.
You do not need to install a FaceTime app on Android or create an Apple Account for this guest session. Your name is the identifying information you submit to the waiting room.
Who can create the invitation link
The host must use an Apple device that supports FaceTime links:
- An iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 15 or later.
- A Mac running macOS Monterey or later.
On the Apple device, the host opens FaceTime and uses its link-creation option, then sends the resulting URL to the Android participant through the messaging or email service they normally use. The Android guest cannot substitute a phone number, Apple Account, or separate Android app for that link.

Apple says FaceTime links are not supported in mainland China. Apple also says creating a FaceTime link is not supported on iPhone models purchased in mainland China. Those are different restrictions: one concerns using links in the region, while the other concerns the origin of the iPhone hardware. If either condition applies, the host may be unable to generate or use the invitation.
How to join a FaceTime call from Android
Follow this sequence after the Apple participant sends the link.

- Open the invitation. Tap the FaceTime URL in your message, email, or other channel. If it opens in an unsupported browser, copy the URL and open it in the latest Chrome or Microsoft Edge instead.
- Enter your name. The FaceTime web page asks for a name. Type the name you want the people in the call to see.
- Choose Continue. This takes you to the pre-join view and starts the permission checks.
- Allow microphone and camera access. Select the browser’s allow option when Android displays a permission prompt. Without microphone access, others cannot hear you; without camera access, your video remains off.
- Select Join. FaceTime sends your request to the host rather than placing you directly into the conversation.
- Wait for admission. Remain on the waiting screen until the host lets you in. The request is a deliberate part of the web guest flow.
- Select Leave when finished. Leaving ends your participation; it does not end the host’s call for everyone else.
If the host has not admitted you yet, tapping Join again will not bypass the approval step. Contact the host through your original message channel if you have been waiting longer than expected.
Controls available to an Android guest
Apple documents the following FaceTime-on-the-web controls. Their exact placement can vary with the browser window and device orientation, but they are the practical tools available after you enter the call.

| Screen sharing | Unavailable in FaceTime on the web. |
The ability to share the link onward does not mean every recipient enters automatically. Each web participant still requests access, and the host or another authenticated participant can manage who remains in the call.
Why screen sharing and SharePlay do not work on Android
FaceTime’s web implementation supplies core audio, video, and basic call controls, but Apple does not make SharePlay or screen sharing available in that browser experience. If an Apple participant starts a screen-sharing or SharePlay action, an Android guest should not expect to see the shared screen or join the shared activity.
This is a platform limitation, not a camera, microphone, or browser-permission failure. Updating Chrome, switching to Edge, or rejoining the same link will not add those features. For a meeting that depends on a presentation or a watch-party session, the host needs a service and setup that support those functions for every participant.

Admission, names, and moderation
Android participants join as guests. The name entered on the web page identifies the request, and the host decides whether to admit it. Apple’s privacy documentation also says that any authenticated participant can remove a web user within the first 30 seconds after that user joins. That short period gives participants a way to correct an accidental admission or remove an unexpected guest.

Because the link can be forwarded, treat it like an invitation rather than a permanent identity check. Send it only to people who should have an opportunity to request entry, and tell the host which name you will use so the waiting-room request is recognizable.
Privacy and security details
Apple states that FaceTime calls are end-to-end encrypted and that it does not store the content of FaceTime calls. Those statements describe the call content, not every operational record involved in connecting people.
Apple says it may retain limited operational information about FaceTime use for up to 30 days. Examples in its privacy documentation include information about who was invited and device network configurations. The web guest therefore supplies a name and an access request even though the call audio and video are not stored as call content by Apple.
Use the normal precautions for any invitation link: verify the sender, avoid posting the URL publicly, and leave the call if an unexpected person appears. These steps reduce unwanted admission without changing the browser requirements.

Troubleshooting an Android FaceTime join
The link will not open or shows an unsupported-browser message
Confirm that you opened the URL in the latest Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. If another app’s built-in browser intercepted the tap, use the share or copy option to move the complete link into Chrome or Edge. A stale browser release can also prevent the web page from loading correctly, so update the browser before trying again.
The page loads, but the camera or microphone is blocked
When prompted, choose the option that allows the browser to use the camera and microphone. If you previously denied access, Android or the browser may continue blocking the devices until you change the permission for that browser and reload the FaceTime page. Check that no other app is using the microphone exclusively, then return to the invitation and repeat the pre-join steps.
You tapped Join but remain waiting
That is the expected state until the Apple host approves the request. Keep the page open, make sure your connection is still active, and contact the host through the channel that carried the invitation. The guest cannot admit itself.
Others cannot hear or see you after admission
Look at the in-call microphone and camera controls first: either may have been turned off. If the controls are on, verify that Chrome or Edge still has Android permission, then reload only if the host confirms that doing so will not make you lose your place in the call. A weak Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection can also interrupt one direction of audio or video; moving closer to a reliable access point or changing to a stronger mobile signal may help.

Those functions are not supported for FaceTime web participants, including Android guests. Explain the limitation before the call or use a different meeting arrangement that provides the required feature to all participants.

The host cannot create or use the link
Check the host device and software: link creation requires iOS 15 or later on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or macOS Monterey or later on a Mac. Then check the regional rules. FaceTime links are not supported in mainland China, and link creation is not supported on iPhone models purchased in mainland China.
What to expect during a group call
An Android guest can participate in a group FaceTime call through the same invitation-and-admission process. The web interface provides the documented group-participant grid layout, so the number of people visible at once can depend on the browser window and device screen. Switching to full-screen mode can make the available layout easier to view, while camera and microphone controls let you choose when to transmit your video or audio.
Forwarding the link can add more requests to the host’s waiting area. Anyone who receives the URL still needs to identify themselves and be admitted, so the host should watch the requests rather than assuming that possession of the link equals entry.

- You have an Apple-created link, Chrome or Edge, and working permissions: open it, enter your name, choose Continue, allow access, choose Join, and wait for approval.
- You have no link: ask an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac user to create and send one. An Android device cannot generate the FaceTime invitation.
- You need screen sharing or SharePlay: FaceTime on the web will not provide those features to Android participants.
- You are in mainland China, or the host uses an iPhone purchased there: Apple’s stated link restrictions may prevent the invitation from working.
For the ordinary audio-and-video use case, the browser link is all an Android participant needs beyond a compatible browser, a reliable connection, and permission to use the device’s camera and microphone.
