Choose how your group will play
Minecraft Dungeons II—also commonly called Minecraft Dungeons 2—is an action-RPG adventure and the sequel to Minecraft Dungeons. Its multiplayer options cover three different group setups:

The precise labels and steps should be taken from the live game: the official FAQ and developer interview confirm online cross-play, but do not establish a particular menu route, invite button, acceptance process, privacy setting, or account-linking requirement.

For players who do not have a full group ready, matchmaking is available. The design director says party size adapts as players join or leave, but the available sources do not describe how to select matchmaking or the exact sequence for filling a party.
Play together on one system with couch co-op
If everyone is in the same place and sharing a system, choose couch co-op rather than arranging an online session. The official platform information lists couch co-op, and the Xbox store listing specifies local co-op for 2–4 players. Use the current game prompts to add local players; a precise controller setup or menu path is not established by the official material cited here.

Combine local and remote players with mixed co-op
Mixed co-op is the option when, for example, two people are playing together on one system and want friends elsewhere to join online. Design director Laura de Llorens described this feature as combining couch co-op and online play so a nearby friend and remote friends can play together. The shared party is still subject to the game’s four-player maximum.
Check platform requirements before online console co-op
The official FAQ says online console multiplayer/co-op requires a platform-specific online subscription, sold separately. This caveat applies to online console play; it does not establish that PC players need a console subscription. Check the relevant platform’s current requirements for your region and edition.
