SingleFileZ is no longer a separate Chrome extension. Its project says it has been completely merged into SingleFile. In desktop Chrome, open the official SingleFile listing, select Add to Chrome, and then enable the self-extracting file format in SingleFile’s options to get the former SingleFileZ-style output. Whether the listing is available for every Indian account or storefront is not established, so check what Chrome shows while signed in to your account.
What happened to the SingleFileZ extension?
SingleFileZ is not a separate current Chrome Web Store extension. The SingleFileZ project repository says, “SingleFileZ has been completely merged into SingleFile.” The current listing identified for this guide is named SingleFile; it saves a complete web page, including CSS, images, fonts, and frames, as one HTML file. To reproduce the former SingleFileZ output style, install SingleFile and choose the self-extracting file format in its options. If you only need a single saved HTML file, SingleFile’s standard output may be sufficient; the self-extracting format is the relevant setting for the old SingleFileZ behavior.
How to install SingleFile in Chrome in India
- Open the SingleFile listing in the Chrome Web Store in desktop Chrome while signed in to the Google account you use in India. Confirm that the extension name is SingleFile and that the listing’s project information matches the extension you intend to install.
- Select Add to Chrome.
- Review the permissions prompt if Chrome displays one. If you are comfortable with the requested permissions, select Add extension to confirm.
- Open SingleFile’s options page and select the self-extracting file format. The SingleFileZ project identifies this as the setting for saving pages in the former SingleFileZ style.
- Save a page with SingleFile and check that the resulting file behaves as expected when opened locally.

What to expect from the saved file
SingleFile’s listing describes saving a complete web page—including its CSS, images, fonts, and frames—as one HTML file. The project’s guidance distinguishes the self-extracting format associated with SingleFileZ from standard SingleFile output. Chrome may require the extension to view SingleFileZ-style saved files from the local filesystem; see the SingleFileZ FAQ. If you need a local saved page to open in a particular way, test the chosen format with a non-sensitive page before relying on it.
If Chrome will not let you install it
- You are in Incognito or Guest mode: Chrome does not allow adding extensions from those sessions. Open a regular Chrome window and try again. See Google’s extension installation guidance.
- This is a work- or school-managed computer: An administrator may block extension installation. Ask the organization’s administrator whether SingleFile is allowed.
- The listing does not appear or Add to Chrome is unavailable: Check that you are signed into the intended Google account and using a regular desktop Chrome window. The reviewed sources do not establish availability in every Indian storefront or account context, so a missing listing alone does not prove a country-wide restriction.
- You expected a listing called SingleFileZ: Search for and install the current listing named SingleFile instead; the project says SingleFileZ was merged into it.
