Install Save Page WE from the official add-on store for your browser: choose Add to Firefox on Mozilla Add-ons or Add to Chrome in the Chrome Web Store, then approve the requested permissions if prompted. After installation, look for its blue floppy-disk toolbar button; in Chrome, you may need to pin it from the Extensions menu.
Install Save Page WE in Firefox
- Open the official Save Page WE listing on Firefox Add-ons.
- Select Add to Firefox.
- If Firefox displays a permission prompt, review it and approve to complete installation.
- Look for the blue floppy-disk button on the main toolbar. If it is not visible, open Firefox’s extensions controls and pin the extension icon to the toolbar.
You can also open Firefox’s menu, choose Extensions and themes, and select Find more add-ons to search Mozilla Add-ons. For an ordinary installation, use the official store listing rather than installing an add-on file manually.
Install Save Page WE in Chrome
- Open the official Save Page WE listing in the Chrome Web Store.
- Select Add to Chrome.
- Review the permissions. If Chrome asks you to confirm, select Add extension only if you trust the extension and accept its requested access.
- Find the extension controls to the right of the address bar. From Chrome’s Extensions controls, pin Save Page WE if you want its icon readily visible.

What Save Page WE saves—and what it may miss
Save Page WE saves a web page as it is currently displayed, producing a single HTML file designed to open in a browser. The Firefox listing says the saved file uses the .html extension by default. You can save selected tabs or a list of URLs and choose Basic, Standard, or Custom item options; clicking the toolbar button saves selected tabs according to the button’s configured action.

It cannot capture every page element in every circumstance. According to the Firefox Add-ons listing, a cross-origin frame is saved only when all cross-origin ancestor frames can run content scripts, and scripts inside cross-origin frames are not saved. Firefox WebExtensions also cannot read local files, so Save Page WE cannot directly convert local .maff or .mht files.
The Firefox listing describes the Firefox and Chrome versions as having identical functions and user interfaces. Store metadata viewed on October 3, 2026, showed Firefox version 28.11, last updated March 31, 2023, and Chrome version 33.9, updated September 5, 2023. Those dates describe the listings at that time; they do not establish whether newer releases are available now.

Review permissions before installing
The Firefox Add-ons listing discloses permission categories for downloads and download history, notifications, browser tabs, browser activity during navigation, and data for all websites. Read the prompt shown by your browser and decide whether the requested access fits your intended use. Chrome lets users manage extension site access, including whether access is allowed when the extension is selected, on the current site, or on all sites. Troubleshoot installation problems
- Chrome does not offer an install option in Incognito or guest mode: Switch to a regular Chrome window and install from the official store listing.
- Your work or school browser blocks installation: An administrator may control extension installs. Contact the organization’s support team rather than trying to bypass its policy.
- You installed it but cannot see the button: Open the browser’s extension controls and pin Save Page WE to the toolbar.
- The browser asks for permissions: Review what is requested before approving. If you do not accept the permissions, cancel the install.
- Some page content is missing from the saved file: Cross-origin frame restrictions can prevent frame content or its scripts from being saved. The extension’s listing does not promise a complete copy of every site.
