Install the AuraV edition that matches your GTA V build, extract every archive file directly beside the game executable, then launch Story Mode and press F10 to open the live settings menu. AuraV Enhanced targets the PC version of GTA V Enhanced and requires Windows 10 or 11 plus an NVIDIA RTX graphics card for its path-traced effects. AuraV Legacy is the package for GTA V Legacy and FiveM. AuraV is intended for Story Mode, not GTA Online.
Identify your GTA V edition before downloading
AuraV has separate packages for the two current PC branches of Grand Theft Auto V. Choosing the wrong one is the most common installation mistake: files from the Enhanced package should not be mixed with Legacy files, and a correctly copied mod can still appear to do nothing when it is intended for a different executable.

For Enhanced, the decisive check is the executable name. If the folder you opened contains GTA5_Enhanced.exe, install AuraV Enhanced. If it does not, stop and confirm which GTA V edition is installed rather than guessing. Kypos’s detailed numbered installation procedure is written for Enhanced; Legacy and FiveM packages can have different file layouts and instructions.

Official Enhanced requirements
- Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced for Windows PC.
- Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- An NVIDIA RTX graphics card for AuraV’s path-traced lighting.
- Story Mode access. AuraV is not intended for GTA Online.
The official AuraV pages do not specify a minimum RTX model, a VRAM target or a guaranteed frame rate. Treat the RTX requirement as a capability requirement, not a promise of a particular performance level. Your resolution, other graphics settings, driver state and the rest of the mod stack will affect the result. Plan to tune AuraV in its live menu after installation.

ASI-loader expectations
AuraV normally loads itself, so a separate ASI loader is not required for the standard Enhanced setup. If ScriptHookV is already installed, however, Kypos says its ASI loader must remain in the game directory because AuraV can use that loader when ScriptHookV is present. Do not install unrelated frameworks solely to make a clean AuraV installation work.
Prepare a reversible installation
- Close GTA V and its launcher before copying files.
- Know which folder contains the correct executable, not merely a desktop shortcut or a launcher folder.
- Keep the downloaded AuraV archive until you have confirmed that the game starts and F10 opens the menu.
- If antivirus software is configured to quarantine new modification files, be ready to check its quarantine history after the first launch.
Choose AuraV Lite or AuraV Full
Kypos distributes two feature levels. The edition choice affects what visual systems you can configure, but it does not change the basic Enhanced installation method.

Lite is the practical starting point if you want to verify compatibility or establish a performance baseline. Full is an early-access patron edition, so its additional effects should be considered optional rather than a requirement for AuraV’s core lighting and atmosphere overhaul.

Install AuraV Enhanced step by step
These steps apply to GTA V Enhanced on Windows. The important detail is that the archive contents go directly in the same directory as the game executable; an extra wrapper folder will prevent the loader from finding the files.
- Download the matching package. Use the official AuraV Enhanced download page and choose AuraV Lite or AuraV Full. Do not download AuraV Legacy for an Enhanced installation.
- Open the game directory from your launcher. In Steam, open Library, right-click Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced, choose Manage, and select Browse local files. The Rockstar Games Launcher and Epic Games Launcher provide equivalent commands for opening the installed game folder.
- Open the downloaded archive. Leave the game folder visible in another window so you can compare the destination and source contents.
- Copy the archive contents, not the archive’s outer folder. Put everything from the AuraV zip straight into the game folder, beside
GTA5_Enhanced.exe. Do not create a new folder named AuraV and place the entire archive inside it. - Check the top-level file layout. The destination should contain the executable and AuraV loader files at the same level:

└── AuraV.bank- Close the archive window and start the game. Choose Story Mode rather than GTA Online. AuraV is designed for the single-player Story Mode environment.
- Open AuraV’s controls. Once the world has loaded, press F10. The AuraV settings menu should appear over the game.
- Make a small first change. Adjust one visual option, observe the result, and leave the menu after confirming that the change is visible. AuraV applies changes live and saves them for the next session.
If F10 opens the menu, the files are in the expected location and AuraV is running. You can now tune the effect groups without repeatedly restarting the game.
Configure AuraV with the F10 menu
AuraV’s menu is intended as a live configuration tool rather than a one-time installer screen. Use it in a repeatable loop: change one setting, look at a consistent scene, check smoothness, then keep, reduce or undo that change. Testing in the same location and weather state makes visual and performance differences easier to judge.

Start with the core lighting and sky
Begin with the sky, atmosphere and general lighting controls included in Lite. These changes establish the overall look of the game and make later weather or reflection adjustments easier to evaluate. Path tracing can alter both the appearance and the rendering workload, so check a busy street, an interior and a dark or night scene rather than judging only from a bright outdoor location.
Add weather and atmospheric effects deliberately
Rain, lightning and heat haze can be visually dramatic but are scene-dependent. Enable or raise one effect at a time and watch for changes in clarity during storms, near traffic and around hot surfaces. Skin lighting should be evaluated on several character models and under more than one time-of-day condition; a setting that looks natural in daylight may need adjustment at night.
Evaluate Full-only effects separately
If you use AuraV Full, test water and vehicle effects after establishing a baseline with the core settings. Ocean waves and water reflections are easiest to compare near the coast or a large body of water. Road spray, exhaust and tyre smoke require traffic or driving scenes. The weighted chase camera changes motion and framing rather than surface appearance, so judge it while driving and disable or reduce it if the camera movement is distracting.
Tune for your hardware instead of chasing a preset
Kypos does not publish a universal best preset or an official frame-rate target. Use the F10 menu to find the highest combination that remains comfortable on your particular RTX system. If performance drops, reduce the most demanding path-tracing or reflection-related options first, then retest the same scene. Keep a note of changes so you can return to the last stable configuration.
Installing AuraV Legacy for GTA V Legacy or FiveM
AuraV Legacy is the correct branch for GTA V Legacy and FiveM. The package and its instructions are edition-specific, so do not apply the Enhanced file list mechanically. In particular, do not copy AuraV.asi, msdmo.dll or the AuraV data folder from an Enhanced archive into a Legacy or FiveM location unless the Legacy package explicitly contains those files and directs you to do so.
Before extracting, read the Legacy/FiveM package instructions and identify the folder that the package treats as its game or client directory. Keep Legacy and Enhanced archives separate, and launch the environment the package supports. AuraV’s Story Mode limitation still matters: an installation that works in a supported single-player context should not be used as permission to load the mod into GTA Online.

Updating AuraV without losing settings
AuraV checks for an update when the game starts and reports available updates in its menu. When an update is offered, close the game, download the new archive for the same edition, and unzip it over the existing AuraV files in the game directory. Kypos says existing settings are retained when updating this way.
- Confirm that the update belongs to your edition: Enhanced, Legacy or FiveM.
- Close GTA V and the launcher.
- Extract the new archive over the current files, preserving the direct-beside-executable layout.
- Start the game in the supported mode and open F10.
- Check a familiar scene and verify that the menu reports the expected version and that your previous settings remain.
If an update introduces a loading problem, do not mix files from different editions while trying to repair it. Re-extract a complete archive for the correct edition, then use the log and antivirus checks in the troubleshooting section.
Remove AuraV or reset its settings
To remove AuraV Enhanced, delete these items from the GTA V game directory:

AuraV.asimsdmo.dll- The
AuraVfolder
The AuraV folder also stores AuraV’s settings. Deleting it therefore removes the saved configuration as well as the mod data. If you intend only to troubleshoot, copy the folder somewhere safe first; if you want a clean reset, delete it and reinstall a fresh archive after confirming that the base game launches.
Troubleshoot a missing menu or failed load
F10 does nothing
First confirm that you are in Story Mode. Then quit the game and inspect the directory containing GTA5_Enhanced.exe. AuraV.asi and msdmo.dll must be directly beside that executable, not one level deeper in an AuraV or archive-named folder. The separate AuraV folder must sit beside them and contain AuraV.bank. Correct the layout, restart the game and test F10 again.
The loader is missing or reports that AuraV.asi failed
Open AuraV.log inside the AuraV folder. The log can show whether the loader reached the game and which file it could not open. Also inspect your antivirus quarantine: Kypos notes that security software may quarantine a newly downloaded mod. Restore the quarantined file only if you trust the archive, allow it in the security product, and restart GTA V. If the file is repeatedly removed, review the security product’s event details rather than downloading a second, mismatched package.

ScriptHookV is installed
When ScriptHookV is present, its ASI loader must also be in the game folder according to Kypos. Verify that the loader has not been removed during a game update and that it is in the same directory as the executable. AuraV’s normal Enhanced setup does not require ScriptHookV, so adding it solely as a guess can introduce another failure point.

Open F10 and check that the settings are enabled rather than merely installed. Test in a scene where the selected effect is visible: water effects near water, road spray while driving in rain, and lightning during a storm. If the menu opens but a Full-only effect is absent, verify that you installed the Full package and have access to that early-access edition.
You need support
When contacting Kypos through its Discord support channel or support email, attach AuraV.log. Include your GTA V edition, Windows version, AuraV edition and a description of the exact step at which loading fails. A complete log and precise file layout are more useful than a screenshot of a desktop shortcut.
Using AuraV with other mod tools
ReShade and RenoDX
Kypos says AuraV works alongside ReShade and RenoDX, although those tools are not supported by Kypos. If you combine them, change one layer at a time and keep a known-working configuration. That approach helps distinguish an AuraV loading issue from a post-processing or rendering conflict.
RAGE Plugin Hook and ScriptHookVDotNet
RAGE Plugin Hook and ScriptHookVDotNet are separate mod frameworks with their own prerequisites and file conventions. RAGE Plugin Hook lists a legal GTA V copy, supported Windows versions, .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later and Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables. ScriptHookVDotNet requires GTA V, ScriptHookV and its SDK; its .asi and .dll files go in the GTA V directory and scripts normally go in a scripts folder.
Those requirements apply only when another installed mod needs the corresponding framework. They are not additional AuraV Enhanced prerequisites. If you are diagnosing AuraV, temporarily simplify the setup and verify AuraV alone before adding framework-dependent scripts back.
Safe configuration checklist
- Confirm the edition before downloading: Enhanced uses AuraV Enhanced; Legacy and FiveM use AuraV Legacy.
- For Enhanced, verify Windows 10 or 11 and an NVIDIA RTX card for path tracing.
- Extract the archive directly beside
GTA5_Enhanced.exe; do not create an extra parent folder. - Check for
AuraV.asi,msdmo.dll, theAuraVfolder andAuraV.bankin the expected positions. - Launch Story Mode, then press F10.
- Change one setting at a time and test in a repeatable scene.
- Use the update prompt to replace files with a complete archive for the same edition.
- When loading fails, inspect
AuraV.logand antivirus quarantine before changing unrelated dependencies. - Do not load AuraV in GTA Online.
What to expect from AuraV
AuraV is a graphics overhaul rather than a gameplay mod. Its documented scope is visual: path-traced lighting, a rebuilt sky and atmosphere, weather, smoke, water, reflections and skin lighting. Lite provides the core visual systems without an account, while Full expands water and vehicle presentation for Patreon patrons during early access. Because no official minimum RTX model, VRAM figure or frame-rate benchmark is published, the most reliable configuration method is the one AuraV provides itself: open F10 in Story Mode, make live changes, and keep the settings that deliver the right balance on your hardware.
