You can hide Windows 11’s “System requirements not met. Go to Setting to learn more.” notice with Microsoft’s documented Group Policy setting, Hide messages when Windows system requirements are not met. This suppresses the message; it does not make unsupported hardware eligible for Windows 11 or change its support and update risks.
Why Windows 11 shows the warning
Microsoft says the desktop watermark or Settings message appears when a device does not meet Windows 11’s minimum system requirements. The message identifies an eligibility issue; hiding it does not fix that issue.
Microsoft documents the policy for managing the message in KB5017130: Managing Windows 11 “System requirements not met” message in your organization.
Hide the warning with Local Group Policy
- Open the Local Group Policy Editor. Microsoft’s documentation does not establish which consumer editions of Windows 11 include this editor, so the interface may not be available on every PC.
- Go to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System.
- Open Hide messages when Windows system requirements are not met.
- Set the policy to Enabled, then apply the change.
Microsoft says enabling this policy prevents the minimum-requirements messages from appearing on the desktop or in Settings. It hides the notice rather than changing the device’s hardware eligibility.

For work- or school-managed PCs
Organizations can manage the message with a mobile device management solution such as Microsoft Intune. If your PC is managed by your workplace or school, contact its administrator instead of trying to override the organization’s policy.
What hiding the message does—and does not—change
Microsoft does not recommend installing Windows 11 on a device that fails the minimum requirements. Such a PC is unsupported, may have compatibility problems, and is not guaranteed to receive updates, including security updates. Microsoft’s warning says: “Installing Windows 11 on this PC is not recommended and may result in compatibility issues.” See Windows 11 on devices that don’t meet minimum system requirements.

If Windows 11 was installed on an ineligible device and you want to return to the previous version, Microsoft recommends using Settings > System > Recovery > Go back when that option is available. Microsoft says Go back is available only for 10 days following an upgrade; after that, the files needed for the rollback are removed to free disk space. This is a separate recovery option, not a requirement for hiding the warning.

Community how-to pages sometimes suggest editing HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelUnsupportedHardwareNotificationCache, including values named SV1 or SV2. Microsoft’s notice-management guidance documents Group Policy and organizational MDM, not those registry edits. Treat registry instructions as third-party guidance: the available Microsoft documentation does not establish that they are supported or work across current Windows builds.
