Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →First identify whether the failure came from a Bedrock stream event, model processing, or the network connection. Those failures need different responses: preserve the precise error, check the connection path and its deadlines, and decide what to do with any text already delivered before retrying.
Confirm the streaming API and model support
Amazon Bedrock offers two streaming operations. InvokeModelWithResponseStream returns model-specific inference output as a response stream. Check the chosen model’s responseStreamingSupported field through GetFoundationModel before treating a failed request as a network problem. InvokeModelWithResponseStream documents the operation and its response events.
ConverseStream provides the message-based Converse interface for models that support messages. Confirm which operation your application actually calls; their request and response shapes differ. The AWS CLI does not support these streaming operations, so use an appropriate SDK or runtime path when diagnosing them.
Capture enough detail to classify the failure
Record diagnostic metadata before changing retry behavior. Useful fields include the operation, AWS Region, model or inference-profile identifier, elapsed time, whether any event or chunk arrived, the final event type, exception name, original HTTP status and message when available, and client and intermediary deadlines. Avoid logging prompts or generated text unless your privacy policy allows it.

Bedrock response-stream errors are typed; do not collapse them into a generic “timeout.” The ResponseStream reference describes the available event structure. For InvokeModelWithResponseStream, the API reference documents these distinct cases:
| Failure | What it indicates | First response |
|---|---|---|
modelTimeoutException (HTTP 408) |
Model processing exceeded the model timeout length. | Investigate workload and elapsed processing time. TCP keep-alive does not fix a model processing timeout. |
modelStreamErrorException (HTTP 424) |
An error occurred in the stream. The response exposes original status and message fields. | Preserve those fields and investigate the underlying error. The API reference says to retry the request, but application policy should account for any output already delivered. |
| Internal server error (HTTP 500) or service unavailable (HTTP 503) | Service-side error categories. | Use bounded retry behavior and capture non-sensitive request context. |
| Throttling (HTTP 429) | Capacity or quota pressure, rather than an idle connection reset. | Review service quotas and request rate or capacity strategy. |
| Connection reset or client-side deadline | A transport or caller-path failure, not by itself a Bedrock model timeout. | Inspect connection path, keep-alive configuration, and end-to-end deadlines. |
Validation and permission errors are not transient network faults; do not retry them as if they were connection resets. Check the relevant operation’s ConverseStream or InvokeModelWithResponseStream reference when interpreting the precise exception for your operation.

Check for idle connection expiry on the network path
If failures happen after a long pause between calls, during a long quiet stretch in a stream, or when reusing a previously idle connection, inspect the path for a NAT Gateway, Bedrock interface VPC endpoint, or Network Load Balancer. AWS’s troubleshooting guidance identifies a fixed 350-second idle connection timeout for those named components. They can drop an idle connection silently; a later reset, timeout, or slow connection reuse is not evidence on its own of a Bedrock model timeout. This figure applies to the components AWS names, not every proxy or network device.
For applicable Linux paths, configure SDK and OS keep-alive together
AWS says the SDK and operating system settings must work together. For boto3, the documented client option is Config(tcp_keepalive=True). On Linux, AWS cites net.ipv4.tcp_keepalive_time with a default of 7200 seconds—longer than the named network components’ idle timeout—and recommends setting the OS interval below 350 seconds. AWS gives 45 seconds as an example, not a universal prescription.

- CUSTOMIZABLE SMART CLOCK - See time, weather, and song titles at a glance, control smart home devices, and more. Personalize your display with your favorite clock face and fun colors.
- BIG VIBRANT SOUND - Enjoy rich sound with clear vocals and deep bass. Just ask Alexa to play music, podcasts, and audiobooks. See song titles and touch to control your music.
- EASE INTO THE DAY - Set up an Alexa routine that gently wakes you with music and gradual light. Glance at the time, check reminders, or ask Alexa for weather updates.
- KEEP YOUR HOME COMFORTABLE - Control compatible smart home devices. Just ask Alexa to turn on lights or touch the screen to dim. Create routines that use motion detection to turn down the thermostat as you head out or open the blinds when you walk into a room.
Verify the deployment’s actual sysctl and SDK configuration before changing them. SDK-only keep-alive may not help if the OS still waits longer than the network path’s idle limit. The precise setting and rollout method depend on the host and deployment.
Compare deadlines across the whole request path
A client can stop waiting before Bedrock returns a result, while a proxy or caller can impose another limit. Compare the SDK’s connect, read, and attempt timeouts with the application request deadline and every proxy, load balancer, ingress, and caller limit. The AWS references do not establish universal SDK timeout values; choose values for the SDK version and workload, then verify them in the target environment.

Decide what to do with partial output before retrying
A retry creates a new invocation. If the first stream already delivered text, a second response can repeat that text or repeat work; the API references do not guarantee that replay is safe for every application. Define a bounded retry policy and an explicit user-facing partial-output policy that fit the application’s semantics.
- Choose whether to preserve, label, or discard text received before a failure.
- Do not silently append a newly generated answer to partial output unless the application can safely handle duplication.
- Limit retry attempts and use backoff appropriate to the failure category.
- Do not treat validation or permission failures as transient transport failures.
Account for Guardrails when a stream seems slow
Guardrail processing can affect when guarded text reaches the caller. With synchronous stream scanning, Bedrock buffers one or more chunks before delivery. Asynchronous processing sends chunks sooner, but inappropriate material may be exposed before detection and sensitive-information masking is not supported. Review the Guardrails streaming guidance when the delay is specific to guarded output; do not mistake buffering for a connection timeout without checking the rest of the request path.

A practical diagnostic order
- Identify whether the application calls
InvokeModelWithResponseStreamorConverseStream, and verify that the selected model supports the relevant streaming interface. - Capture the operation, Region, model or inference profile, elapsed time, received-event status, exception and status details, and applicable deadlines—without logging sensitive content unnecessarily.
- Classify the failure as a typed Bedrock event, model timeout, throttling, client deadline, or transport reset before retrying.
- Check whether the path includes a NAT Gateway, Bedrock interface VPC endpoint, or Network Load Balancer and whether the connection may have been idle.
- For applicable Linux deployments, verify both SDK TCP keep-alive and an OS keep-alive interval below the documented network idle timeout.
- Compare client and intermediary deadlines, then apply the application’s bounded retry and partial-output policy.
- If guarded output alone arrives late, check whether synchronous Guardrails scanning is buffering chunks and weigh that latency against the exposure and masking trade-offs of asynchronous processing.
