To try it, choose the AI Data Cloud offer on Snowflake’s official trial page, select your cloud provider, region and edition carefully, then use the credits to evaluate a small, representative workload. The credits are not cash, and they do not guarantee that any particular workload will be free.
Which Snowflake trial should you choose?
Snowflake lists two separate 30-day offers. Choose the AI Data Cloud trial if you want to evaluate Snowflake’s broader data platform; the Cortex Code CLI offer is for a different product and activity.
| Trial | Offer listed by Snowflake | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| AI Data Cloud | 30 days and $400 in free credits | Evaluating platform services such as data engineering, analytics, AI, applications and collaboration |
| Cortex Code CLI | 30 days and $40 in free inferences | Trying the command-line coding assistant |
These are the offers stated on Snowflake’s trial page. The $40 CLI offer is not part of the $400 AI Data Cloud offer.
What should you decide before signup?
Snowflake asks you to select a cloud provider, region and edition during signup. Its trial FAQ says those choices cannot be changed later for that account. If you need another combination, Snowflake says you must create a new trial account. Use Snowflake’s trial FAQ to confirm current terms as you sign up.

- Get NVMe solid state performance with up to 1050MB/s read and 1000MB/s write speeds in a portable, high-capacity drive(1) (Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device & other factors. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes.)
- Up to 3-meter drop protection and IP65 water and dust resistance mean this tough drive can take a beating(3) (Previously rated for 2-meter drop protection and IP55 rating. Now qualified for the higher, stated specs.)
- Use the handy carabiner loop to secure it to your belt loop or backpack for extra peace of mind.
- Help keep private content private with the included password protection featuring 256‐bit AES hardware encryption.(3)
- Easily manage files and automatically free up space with the SanDisk Memory Zone app.(5). Non-Operating Temperature -20°C to 85°C
- Cloud provider: Choose AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform. If your data or existing infrastructure is already on one of them, matching it may help reduce data-transfer costs.
- Region: Consider where your users and data are located; proximity can matter for performance and transfer costs.
- Edition: Choose based on the features you need. Snowflake advises selecting Enterprise when you require its most advanced features.
These are considerations, not universal rules: your existing environment, users’ locations and feature requirements determine the right selection.
How do you start the trial?
- Open Snowflake’s trial page and select the AI Data Cloud trial, not the separate Cortex Code CLI offer.
- Choose the cloud provider, region and edition you intend to use. Review them before submitting because Snowflake says they cannot be changed on that account.
- Complete the signup and follow the email activation flow.
- Begin with a sample dataset or a small workload that represents what you actually want to evaluate.
What can you do with the Snowflake trial?
Snowflake’s trial FAQ lists a range of evaluation tasks. Pick one or two that match your goal rather than trying to explore every feature at once.

- Capacity Display Variance: 500GB external ssd often appears as around 465GB on Windows. MacOS can show full 500 GB capacity. This is binary calculation difference and doesn’t affect SSD hard drive actual physical storage
- 1050 MB/s Speed: Instantly access to your files with blazing-fast 10Gbps external SSD read up to 1050MB/s and write up to 1000MB/s. LED Light indicates USB SSD instant activity
- Data Security: Solid state drives S.M.A.R.T. health diagnostics and adaptive TRIM optimizing data block management ensures consistent write speeds and extends the longevity of the portable SSD
- USB-C & USB-A Cable: Both cables featuring rapid USB 3.2 Gen2, this USB SSD effortlessly bridges devices, enabling seamless cross-platform file transfers and backup between computers, smartphones, tablets and iPhone
- Always Fast: No slowdowns for large file transfers. With SLC caching (25% of current available capacity allocated as high-speed cache), this external SSD delivers steady 10Gbps for transfers within the cache capacity
- Load and query data in Amazon S3, Azure or Google Cloud Storage.
- Use the pre-loaded Tasty Bytes sample data and tutorials.
- Work with JSON and Parquet data.
- Develop with Snowpark for Python or Java.
- Build Streamlit apps.
- Connect Tableau or Power BI.
- Try time travel, zero-copy cloning and data sharing.
Snowflake says external network access, hybrid tables and Openflow are limited to 10 credits daily until payment is added. If one of these features is essential to your evaluation, check its current in-product and documentation terms before designing the test.
How should you make the credits go further?
Snowflake’s platform is consumption-based: the cost depends on the services and features you use. The $400 credit figure therefore does not translate into a fixed number of queries, hours or AI requests.

- This USB drive provides plug and play simplicity with the included 18 inch USB 3.0 cable
- The available storage capacity may vary.
According to Snowflake’s Service Consumption Table, effective October 2, 2026, standard virtual warehouses and compute nodes consume Platform Credits while running, with usage based on configured size; suspended warehouses do not consume Platform Credits. AI features may be billed under their applicable feature terms, including by tokens, compute time, units processed or AI Credits. Actual consumption varies by service, feature, region, configuration and workload.
- Define the question you want the trial to answer, such as whether a representative query or workflow meets your needs.
- Use sample or limited data where that is enough to test the workflow.
- Watch consumption while the workload runs, and stop or suspend resources you are not using.
- Check Snowflake’s live pricing information and service consumption table for estimates relevant to your planned paid usage.
This approach helps make the evaluation deliberate; it cannot guarantee that a workload will fit within the free credits.

What happens when the trial expires?
Snowflake says trial credits may be used within 30 days. If you do not convert the account before the trial expires, it is suspended and you may lose access to your data. Export or otherwise preserve anything you need before the end date; the trial FAQ does not establish that unused credits roll over or that data remains accessible after expiry.
To continue with paid use
Snowflake’s FAQ directs users to Snowsight, then Upgrade or Admin > Billing, and to add a credit card. Snowflake says data, tables and worksheets are preserved through conversion. Review the current billing terms before adding payment details.
