Set an event-specific reminder on the official ticket seller’s page first, then add backup alerts from the artist, venue, team, or ticketing app. An artist follow can tell you when a show is announced; a sale reminder is the alert aimed at the actual on-sale time. Because presales and notification options vary by event, keep the official purchase page handy and use more than one channel for an important sale.
Set an alert for the actual ticket sale
- Find the official event listing. Start with the artist, team, venue, or event organizer, and follow its link to the ticket seller. Check the sale date, time, and time zone on that listing. Bandsintown says the on-sale time shown for its events uses the venue’s time zone (Bandsintown help).
- Set the event-specific reminder. On Ticketmaster, sign in, open the event, select the show you want, and choose SET REMINDER beside the relevant sale. Confirm the control changes to REMINDER SET. Ticketmaster says it sends a text one hour before the sale with a direct link to the ticket page (Ticketmaster Help).
- Turn on account alerts and follow the event’s people and places. Review Ticketmaster’s account alert preferences and, in its app, add relevant performers, teams, or venues under Watchlist → Favorites (Ticketmaster Help). Follow the artist and venue’s official email list and social accounts too.
- Add a backup reminder if useful. Bandsintown offers email and in-app reminders for listed events when the organizer has enabled on-sale notifications. Keep the official seller link as well: Bandsintown says its Tickets button may take two to four hours to replace Set Reminder after a sale begins (Bandsintown help).
Use separate alerts for announcements and on-sale times
A follow or mailing-list subscription can help you learn that a show has been announced, but it is not necessarily a reminder immediately before tickets go on sale. Set the specific sale reminder when the event page offers one, and follow the artist, venue, or team for new-show announcements. The available controls differ by listing and event.
Ticketmaster says reminders are available for events whose organizers have enabled them; do not assume every listing supports one (Ticketmaster Help). Bandsintown’s reminder likewise depends on the event being listed and configured by the artist or organizer.

A presale is an opportunity to buy before the general sale, but the signup, eligibility, and code depend on the particular presale. Ticketmaster lists possible routes including artist, venue, team, fan club, radio, sponsor, and customer offers; some events have no presale (Ticketmaster Help).

- Venue, team, sponsor, or customer offers: Follow the event’s own instructions. The relevant organization or offer may determine who can participate and how access is provided.
- Live Nation presales on Ticketmaster: Live Nation All Access members can access Live Nation presales on Ticketmaster without a code when signed in using the same email address as their membership. For other ticketing sites, Live Nation says the code appears on the Live Nation event page at presale time (Live Nation Help).
- Bandsintown artist presales: Its artist signup flow can email an alert shortly before a presale begins. Bandsintown’s documentation says SMS alerts are currently available for U.S. and Canadian phone numbers; the event must be listed and configured by its artist or organizer (Bandsintown help).
A code or membership provides access to an offer, not a guarantee that tickets will still be available. Check the event’s stated eligibility and timing rather than relying on a code from an unrelated listing.
Make the alert useful on sale day
- Save the official ticket page somewhere easy to open, in addition to relying on an alert link.
- Check the sale time and time zone on the event page; do not infer them from your phone’s local time or another listing.
- For a high-priority event, use an event reminder plus a direct-source channel such as the artist’s or venue’s official list.
- Allow the relevant app to send notifications and make sure your email or phone number on the account is current.
Official help pages describe available alert features, not a comparative reliability study across services or regions. No notification channel should be treated as guaranteed delivery or complete event coverage.
