To generate a website thumbnail with Microlink, request a screenshot of your published Hindi blog post at a 1200 × 630 viewport, then use the returned image for your social preview. For a direct image response, add embed=screenshot.url; for a JSON response with screenshot metadata and a hosted asset URL, omit it. Microlink documents 1200 × 630 as a common social-card size, but it does not guarantee how every platform will display the image—or provide a Hindi-specific font-rendering guarantee—so preview the result before sharing.

Build a Microlink thumbnail endpoint

Microlink’s screenshot guide says a screenshot request needs the target url and screenshot parameter. For a social thumbnail, add a fixed viewport and disable page metadata extraction if you do not need it. The following URL is a pattern: replace the example post URL with your public blog post’s URL, properly URL-encoded.

https://api.microlink.io/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fexample.com%2Fhindi-post&screenshot=true&meta=false&embed=screenshot.url&viewport.width=1200&viewport.height=630

Microlink documents the 1200 × 630 viewport as a common social-card size. A fixed viewport captures a bounded frame; it does not mean the full article will fit in the image.

Add the thumbnail to your Hindi blog

Put the endpoint in the page head as the image URL for both Open Graph and Twitter metadata. In HTML attributes, encode query-string ampersands as & so the markup remains valid. Replace ENCODED_POST_URL with the correctly URL-encoded address of the post.

<meta property="og:image" content="https://api.microlink.io/?url=ENCODED_POST_URL&amp;screenshot=true&amp;meta=false&amp;embed=screenshot.url&amp;viewport.width=1200&amp;viewport.height=630">
<meta name="twitter:image" content="https://api.microlink.io/?url=ENCODED_POST_URL&amp;screenshot=true&amp;meta=false&amp;embed=screenshot.url&amp;viewport.width=1200&amp;viewport.height=630">

The embedded-image mode makes the endpoint act as the image response, which is useful when a tag needs an image directly. If your application instead needs screenshot metadata, use Microlink’s regular JSON response and its data.screenshot.url hosted asset URL. The screenshot guide describes that response shape and the delivery guide covers image embedding. Microlink screenshot guide · Microlink Open Graph use case · Screenshot delivery and embedding

Choose what the thumbnail should show

Viewport, full page, or one element

  • Viewport: The default captures the visible viewport. Set width and height explicitly for a consistent social-card frame.
  • Full page: Use full-page capture when you need the entire scrollable page rather than a thumbnail-sized frame.
  • Selected element: Target a CSS element if the desired image is a hero or article region, rather than the whole page. The element must exist and be visible when the capture occurs.

PNG or JPEG

PNG is the documented default, and JPEG is also available. The SDK reference documents JPEG quality control. Select the format based on the content and file-size needs, then inspect the result; the documentation does not establish one format as best for Hindi text in every design. Direct image or JSON

  • Direct image: Add embed=screenshot.url when the API URL itself will go in og:image or twitter:image.
  • JSON and hosted asset: Use the normal response when your backend needs the asset URL along with screenshot metadata such as dimensions, type, or size.

Check Hindi text and social previews

  1. Publish the post at a public URL that the screenshot service can access.
  2. Request the image at the chosen viewport; for a standard social-card frame, Microlink’s guide uses 1200 × 630.
  3. Open the generated image and check that the Hindi headline, glyphs, and crop are legible. The reviewed Microlink documentation does not promise Hindi-specific font shaping or rendering, so inspect the actual output rather than assuming the typography will match your browser.
  4. Use the target social platform’s sharing debugger to check the preview before publishing; Microlink’s Open Graph example recommends this check.

Microlink’s Open Graph use case describes a 24-hour default cache and configurable TTL from one minute to 31 days, with TTL and stale-while-revalidate listed as Pro features. These are vendor-published product terms that can change; confirm current plan details if your thumbnail must refresh on a particular schedule. Microlink Open Graph use case

Microlink access and usage

Microlink’s screenshot guide currently documents use without an API key and an allowance of 25 free requests per day. The guide recommends a plan for production features including configurable TTL, stale caching, custom filenames, headers, and proxy. These are Microlink’s stated terms, not independently measured service limits; check the current guide before basing a production workload on them. Microlink screenshot guide

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. Its one-request endpoint can return an image or PDF, with output controlled through request parameters. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of your post:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com/hindi-post -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots, and its free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. These are ScreenshotNeo’s stated product terms.
