The reliable way to follow Haunted Chocolatier is to start at hauntedchocolatier.net. Use its Blog for dated development posts, Screenshots for developer-published images, and F.A.Q. for stable facts. The latest dated check-in documented here is August 30, 2026, when ConcernedApe wrote, “Im still here, still making progress.”
There is no announced release date, preorder window, or fixed update schedule. A quiet period is not evidence that development has stopped: ConcernedApe has said he posts when he has something complete enough to show and will not rush the game or compromise its quality.

How to check the site efficiently
- Open the homepage and select Blog from the navigation.
- Look for the newest dated entry in the archive before reading older summaries elsewhere.
- Read the complete post, not only its headline or an image caption; important qualifications about unfinished systems and timing are often in the body text.
- Use Screenshots when you want the developer’s own visual material, and keep the accompanying date and wording with the image.
- Use F.A.Q. for baseline facts, then return to the Blog for later changes or qualifications.
The site does not publish a guaranteed update calendar, so checking the archive is more dependable than waiting for a weekly or monthly post.
What the dated development posts establish

The August 30, 2026 entry is the latest dated check-in identified here. It is a status statement, not a launch announcement, trailer date, preorder notice, or estimate of remaining work.
Is Haunted Chocolatier still being developed?
Yes. The clearest current evidence is ConcernedApe’s August 30, 2026 statement: “Im still here, still making progress.” He also wrote, “I won’t compromise on the quality of the game by rushing it or releasing it too early.” Those statements establish continued development and an intention to protect the finished game’s quality; they do not establish how close the project is to completion.
The January 28, 2026 post addresses two recurring rumors directly. ConcernedApe said the game had not been abandoned and would not be merged into Stardew Valley. He explained that the games use different technology. That distinction matters when interpreting long gaps: work on one project, a port, or a content update is not proof that the other project has been cancelled.

The December 4, 2024 update provides the context for an irregular cadence. ConcernedApe said he prefers to work in isolation and post only when he has something complete and worthy to show. His warning was explicit: “But if I don’t post for a while, it doesn’t mean I have abandoned the game.” A missing monthly post therefore cannot be converted into a cancellation claim.
Why official updates can be far apart
Do not use the interval between posts as a progress meter. The developer has identified several reasons for silence or delay:
- He works solo, so programming, design, art direction, writing, testing, and communication compete for the same time.
- He was occupied with Stardew Valley 1.6 content, bug fixing, and ports during the period described in the December 2024 update.
- He codes mostly from scratch in C#, which can make systems work intensive even when there is little public material to show.
- He iterates on systems repeatedly. The June 2026 post used the chocolate recipe-book interface as an example of a feature being revised rather than presented as final.
- He deliberately holds back unfinished systems because screenshots and demonstrations can become misleading when the design changes.
This communication style favors fewer, more complete posts over a predictable stream of development fragments. The absence of an update means only that no new official post has been published; it does not supply a release estimate or a development percentage.
Release date, preorders, and early access
No release date or even a release estimate has been announced. In the January 28, 2026 post, ConcernedApe wrote: “The bottom line is, I don’t want to give a release date. The game will come out when it’s done.” Treat that as the current policy rather than trying to derive a date from screenshots, old interviews, or retailer listings.

- A page asking for money for a preorder is not an official preorder window established by the developer.
- A crowdfunding campaign cannot be assumed to be forthcoming.
- An “early access release” date posted by a third party conflicts with the stated plan unless the official site changes it.
- A retailer placeholder or an unsourced countdown is not a confirmed launch date.
Do not confuse “the game will eventually be finished and come out” with a schedule. ConcernedApe made that assurance in December 2024, while also declining to provide timing.

The F.A.Q. treats PC as the certain platform. It describes other major platforms as intended, but not guaranteed. That wording should be preserved whenever you report platform information:

Because the project has no announced release date, there is also no verified launch-day platform list, edition breakdown, store page, or system-requirements sheet to use as a substitute for the F.A.Q. If a later official post changes the platform wording, use that dated post and note the date of the change.
The F.A.Q. is also the appropriate place to check the developer’s current statements about multiplayer, language plans, and the game engine. Do not infer those answers from a screenshot or from how Stardew Valley works; the two projects use different technology.
How to use official screenshots without overreading them
The Screenshots section is valuable because it contains images published by the developer, but an image is not a contractual feature list. The December 2024 update cautioned that screenshots may change before release. A menu visible in one image can be redesigned, a character can be replaced, and a location can be cut or rearranged.

A careful screenshot-reading checklist
- Record the post date or page context so you know when the image was shown.
- Separate what is visibly present from what the image proves. A recipe-book interface proves that an interface existed in that build; it does not prove the final layout or release version.
- Do not treat decorative text, placeholder names, or unfinished art as final terminology.
- Look for the developer’s written qualification around the image, especially statements that a system is still being iterated.
- When repeating an image-based claim, label it as “shown in an official screenshot” rather than “confirmed for launch” unless a dated text update makes that commitment.
The June 25, 2026 update is a useful example: repeated work on the chocolate recipe-book interface demonstrates active iteration, while the developer’s reluctance to show more unfinished systems explains why the public image set may remain small.
How to verify rumors and third-party updates
Third-party coverage can help you discover that a post exists, but it should not outrank the original dated entry. Use five checks before repeating a claim:

- Check the Blog archive when you hear news. Find the newest dated post and search older entries only when you need context.
- Read the F.A.Q. after major announcements. Stable answers about platform certainty, release status, and other basics are maintained there.
- Review Screenshots separately. Use them for visual evidence, but keep the work-in-progress qualification attached.
- Write down the date of the statement. A claim can be accurate for one development stage and obsolete after a redesign.
- Classify each item. Mark it as confirmed, intended, changed, or unknown instead of using a single “news” category.
- Ignore countdowns without an official source. No fixed schedule has been announced, so a countdown cannot be independently validated.
This routine also makes it easier to notice a real change. A future post that announces a date, preorder policy, or additional guaranteed platform would supersede the older wording because it would be newer and more specific.

Common misunderstandings to avoid
“There has been no post, so the game was cancelled.”
That conclusion conflicts with the developer’s own warning that a gap does not mean abandonment and with the August 30, 2026 statement that he is still making progress.
“A screenshot proves the feature is finished.”
Official screenshots are work in progress. The developer has said images and systems may change before release.
“A guessed year is an announcement.”
There is no announced release date or estimate. The stated position is that the game will come out when it is done.

“A store listing means preorders are open.”
The December 2024 update says there will be no pre-orders. Treat an unsourced listing as unverified unless the official site changes that policy.
What to watch for in a genuinely important update
A meaningful official update will normally contain at least one concrete change in status: a release date or estimate, a platform confirmation, a revised preorder policy, a new development milestone, or a clarified feature commitment. Give priority to posts that explain what changed and what remains provisional.
By contrast, a recycled screenshot, a retailer placeholder, or a social post that cites no dated official statement adds little reliable information. The most useful habit is to preserve the developer’s categories—certain, intended, unfinished, and unknown—rather than flattening them into a yes-or-no headline.
