For a full-page screenshot of the document, set fullPage: true in page.screenshot(). If the bottom is still missing, check whether the content is in a nested scroll area, whether the page actually renders content below the fold, and whether a clip option limits the capture.
Capture the full document
Playwright screenshots show only the current viewport by default: fullPage defaults to false. Set it to true to capture the document’s full scrollable page. See the Playwright screenshot documentation.

Diagnose what is missing
Check the screenshot options for clipping
If the call includes clip, inspect its x, y, width, and height. A clipping rectangle that ends before the content will constrain the capture. Remove it or adjust the region to cover the intended area. The option’s bounds are documented in the Page screenshot API.

Determine which element scrolls
Scroll the page and observe whether the document itself moves or whether a particular panel or container scrolls independently. A document-level full-page screenshot does not expand a nested scroll container. To capture that element, take a screenshot of its locator:
await page.locator('.container').screenshot({ path: 'container.png' });Replace .container with a selector for the actual scrolling element. This captures the element rather than turning its contents into document-level page content.
Check whether content exists below the fold
A viewport-constrained layout such as one using height: 100vh may render only viewport-height content. Playwright does not change the page layout to create content that is not there. Inspect the relevant CSS and the rendered page to establish whether the expected content exists below the fold.

For diagnosis, the Playwright issue discussion suggested trying a manually enlarged viewport:
await page.setViewportSize({ width: 1280, height: 3000 });
await expect(page).toHaveScreenshot();Those dimensions are an example from that discussion, not a standard viewport or guaranteed fix. Whether a larger viewport helps depends on the page structure. If it does, determine why the page’s intended content depends on viewport height; changing the test viewport may be appropriate, but it is not a general substitute for correcting the page or test setup.

Review the screenshot call for
clipand check whether its bounds exclude the missing area. -
Identify the scroll owner. If the long content is inside an independently scrolling element, capture that locator.

Inspect the rendered page and CSS for viewport-constrained layouts, including

If the layout suggests viewport-height dependence, try a larger viewport as a diagnostic, then address the page or test condition that explains the result. Do not assume the example dimensions will work for other sites.
Troubleshooting symptoms

What to include if the cause remains unclear
The issue depends on how the page and screenshot call are structured. A useful minimal reproduction should include the screenshot code and options, relevant scrolling and layout CSS, and the browser and Playwright version. Without those details, the exact cause cannot be determined from the symptom alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does `fullPage: true` capture content inside every scrollable element?
No. It captures the document’s scrollable page, not every nested scroll container. Capture a nested element with its locator’s screenshot method.
Are 1280 × 3000 viewport dimensions a recommended Playwright setting?
No. Those dimensions were an example in a discussion of one page-specific issue, not a general recommendation.
