Wardogs does not currently offer a normal named loadout library in its Early Access vendor flow. To restore your previous kit, open the vendor and select Re-buy Loadout in the bottom-left before buying anything else. If a weapon remains locked, check three separate gates: the correct role level, the one-time unlock fee, and the cash price charged each time you equip it. Vault items use a separate toggle, while scroll-wheel, zoom, mortar, CIWS, and other reload failures can come from damaged local input files.
What Wardogs supports right now
Wardogs’ current Early Access system is built around buying equipment at a vendor rather than selecting a permanent preset from a loadout library. The practical replacement for a saved loadout is the vendor’s Re-buy Loadout control. It recalls the kit from your previous purchase, shows the total cost, and lets you remove individual items before confirming the new purchase.
This behavior is intentional rather than an undisclosed menu option. Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer explained that the team deliberately did not use loadouts during development because the restriction encouraged experimentation. He said future loadouts are planned as a meta-game unlock purchased with in-game cash, but no release date has been confirmed. Do not assume that a patch, season, or level milestone has already added permanent presets unless the game shows the feature in your build.
Restore your previous kit with Re-buy Loadout
Use the control before making another purchase
- Enter the vendor where you normally purchase your role equipment.
- Look in the bottom-left of the vendor screen for Re-buy Loadout.
- Select it before purchasing an individual item.
- Review the recalled kit and the displayed total cost.
- Remove any item you do not want in this purchase.
- Confirm the transaction only after the remaining equipment and price are correct.
The recalled kit is a reproduction of the previous purchase, not a freely editable library of named presets. You can trim the recalled selection before buying, but the game still charges the normal purchase prices for the equipment you keep.

Why the button can disappear
The control may disappear as soon as you buy an individual item. The vendor then treats that transaction as the new purchase state, so the earlier kit is no longer available through the button. This is the most common explanation when a player sees Re-buy Loadout in one vendor visit and not the next.
- Open the vendor and inspect the bottom-left area before clicking any item.
- If the control is present, use it first and then remove unwanted equipment from the recalled list.
- If it is absent after a purchase, there is currently no conventional preset library to restore from that screen; buy the needed items individually for the current match.
Do not treat the missing control as proof that your account lost a saved preset. In the current Early Access design, the button is a temporary recall of the previous kit, and its availability can change during the vendor interaction.
Why a weapon stays locked after you level up
Wardogs separates progression from ownership and match purchasing. Reaching a role level satisfies only one condition for most equipment. The game can still require a one-time unlock payment, followed by a separate price each time you equip the item in a match.

Check the role, not just your overall level
First confirm that the item is assigned to the role whose level you raised. A level gained on one role does not satisfy a requirement attached to another role. Open the item’s details and compare the displayed role requirement with that role’s current level.

Check for the one-time fee
If the level requirement is satisfied but the item still has an unlock prompt, complete that one-time purchase. The unlock fee is different from the amount shown when you buy the weapon for a match, so paying one does not eliminate the other.
Check your current purchase cash
An unlocked weapon can still appear unusable when your available match cash is below its per-purchase price. This is a spending problem, not a progression failure. Compare the required price with the cash shown in the vendor and leave enough for the rest of the kit you intend to buy.
Season 2 role-level milestones

Use these figures as a reference when checking whether a role-level gate should have opened. If the in-game requirement differs, follow the value shown in your current client rather than assuming the launch table reflects a later balance change.

A reliable unlock checklist
- Identify the role that owns the item.
- Open the item details and read the exact role-level requirement.
- Verify that the role, rather than a different class, has reached that level.
- Look for a separate one-time unlock fee and pay it if the game presents one.
- Confirm that your current match cash covers the item’s recurring purchase price.
- If the item is stored in the Vault, switch to the correct vendor category and use the Vault control described below.
If all six checks pass and the item remains unavailable, record the exact text of the prompt and whether the problem occurs only with one item or with every item in that role. That distinction separates a progression gate from a vendor or local-input problem.
Equip an item from the Vault
The Vault stores account-level items obtained outside a match. A stored item is not automatically selected just because it exists in the Vault, and it does not bypass the item’s normal role-level requirement.
- Open the vendor category that matches the stored item’s role and equipment type.
- Press V, or enable the vendor’s Vault toggle.
- Locate the stored item in the Vault list.
- Confirm that the required role level has been reached.
- Select the item to equip it. A Vault item uses the stored copy instead of charging the normal purchase price for that item.
If the Vault list is empty, first verify that you are in the matching category. Looking in a different role’s vendor does not expose the item. If the item is visible but still locked, the usual role-level gate still applies; the Vault changes how the item is sourced, not the progression requirement.
Separate vendor problems from input-file corruption
Not every equip failure is an unlock issue. Local input corruption is more likely when controls behave inconsistently: the mouse wheel will not zoom or swap weapons, a built weapon or mortar refuses to reload, or a key appears correctly mapped in the menu but does nothing in play.

Reset the local files for scroll-wheel and weapon-swap failures
A Steam community report links scroll-wheel zoom and weapon-swap failures to two local files. This is an anecdotal workaround, not an official support guarantee, so preserve your settings before deleting anything.
Back up the configuration first
- Close Wardogs completely.
- Copy the following files to a separate backup folder, or rename them with a
.baksuffix so they can be restored:
%LOCALAPPDATA%WardogsSavedConfigWindowsClientGameUserSettings.ini%LOCALAPPDATA%WardogsSavedSaveGamesEnhancedInputUserSettings.sav
Backing up matters because these files contain local settings and input data. A reset can remove custom bindings, requiring you to configure them again.
Apply the reported reset
- With the game closed, delete or move both files out of their original folders.
- Restart Wardogs and allow it to recreate the local configuration.
- Test zoom and weapon swapping with the default controls before changing any bindings.
- Verify the game files in Steam if the behavior continues after the files are recreated.
The same community report warns that remapping the mouse wheel can reproduce the failure. Establish that the default binding works before experimenting with a custom wheel assignment.
Repair a malformed reload binding for built weapons and emplacements
A second Steam report attributes reload failures on built weapons, mortars, CIWS, and similar emplacements to a malformed custom reload entry. Resetting the WindowsClient configuration files is the lower-risk option. If you choose to edit the file instead, make another backup and change only the reload entry.

The report gives this form as an example of a concrete reload key:

Do not copy the example blindly if E conflicts with your controls; use a key you intentionally choose and preserve the surrounding syntax already present in your file.
Why resetting the menu binding may not be enough
The report notes that using the in-game reset control can leave the malformed configuration behind. That is why deleting or moving the affected WindowsClient files is part of the suggested workaround. Treat the workaround as version-sensitive: an update can change the file format or remove the underlying bug, so recheck the behavior after every major game update before repeating manual edits.

Test the fix safely
- Close the game and restore your backup if the file edit produces an error or removes unrelated settings.
- Launch with the default reload binding first.
- Test a built weapon, mortar, or CIWS in a low-risk situation.
- Only after reload works should you add other custom bindings one at a time.
- Retest after each binding change so you know which edit introduced a regression.
Choose the remedy by problem type

Common mistakes to avoid
- Buying first, looking for Re-buy Loadout second: the button can disappear after an individual purchase, so inspect the vendor before selecting equipment.
- Confusing role level with an unlocked item: level completion can reveal the item without paying its one-time unlock fee.
- Assuming an unlock makes every purchase free: most equipment still has a recurring per-purchase price.
- Using cash to bypass a level gate: money cannot replace the required role level.
- Expecting Vault access to ignore progression: stored items remain subject to their standard unlock level.
- Deleting files without a backup: the input reset can remove custom controls, so copy or rename the files first.
- Rebinding reload immediately after a reset: test the default key first; the reported malformed-binding problem can return when custom input is added.
- Treating community workarounds as guarantees: local-file fixes are reports from individual players and may change after updates.
What to expect from future loadouts
Permanent loadout presets have been described as a planned meta-game feature funded with in-game cash. That statement confirms the intended direction, not an available menu, a price, or a launch date. Until the feature is shipped and visible in your client, the dependable workflow is to use Re-buy Loadout at the start of a vendor visit, remove unwanted items from the recalled list, and manage unlock fees and match-purchase cash separately.
