If the Vienna Expansion will not download, will not install, or appears installed but the map is missing, start in Steam’s Properties > DLC panel. It shows whether the account owns the add-on and whether Steam considers it installed. Then restart Steam and the computer, clear Steam’s download cache, repair the library folder, retry from the Download Manager, verify the game files, and check storage. This sequence separates an entitlement problem from a download failure and from damaged or missing files.
The expansion launched on October 13, 2026, so an installation state that looks wrong is more useful than repeated blind reinstalls. Record what Steam reports at each stage. That record tells you whether the problem is attached to the purchase, the content-delivery service, the local library, or the game after it has loaded.
What the Vienna Expansion is
The Vienna Expansion for City Transport Simulator 2026 launched on October 13, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It adds a Vienna map, three real-world routes, associated vehicles and other content, plus more than 1,000 realistically recreated buildings. The Steam store lists it as downloadable content for the game, with ViewApp identified as the developer and publisher.

The troubleshooting paths below are for the PC version purchased and managed through Steam. The release also exists on consoles, but Steam’s menus and repair tools do not apply to those editions.

Identify which kind of failure you have
The wording of the symptom usually indicates where to start. Check the DLC panel before repeatedly reinstalling the game; reinstalling cannot fix a purchase that is attached to a different account.

This distinction prevents a common wasted effort: changing download regions when the add-on was never entitled to the account, or verifying files when Steam has not yet downloaded the package. Ownership, transfer, local files, and in-game behavior are different checkpoints.
Fix the Vienna Expansion on Steam
1. Confirm ownership and installation state
- Open Steam Library.
- Right-click City Transport Simulator 2026 and choose Properties.
- Open the DLC tab.
- Check whether Vienna Expansion is listed and whether Steam marks it as installed.
Steam describes this panel as the place where you can see which downloadable content the account owns and whether it has been installed. If Vienna is not listed, do not continue with file verification yet: verify that you are signed in to the account that made the purchase and that the store transaction completed successfully. A completed purchase on another Steam account will not grant the add-on to the account running the game.

If the DLC is listed but not installed, leave it enabled in the DLC panel and continue with the download steps. If it is listed as installed, proceed to file verification when the map or related content is missing. Take a screenshot or note the wording before changing settings; “not installed,” “queued,” and “installed” point to different next actions.
2. Restart Steam and the computer
Exit Steam fully, reopen it, and restart the computer before changing files or libraries. Steam’s installation troubleshooting sequence places a restart at the beginning because it refreshes the client session and clears transient states that can leave an item stuck in a queue. After Steam starts, return to the game’s DLC tab and Download Manager to see whether the Vienna item resumes.
If the item resumes after the restart, allow the transfer to finish before launching the simulator. Starting the game while an update is still pending can make an otherwise installed expansion appear incomplete.
3. Clear Steam’s download cache
- Open Steam.
- Choose Steam > Settings.
- Open Downloads.
- Select Clear Cache and confirm.
Steam says this flushes locally cached configuration data and reacquires it from Steam’s servers. Use this when the download is stuck, loops through an error, or shows a state that no longer matches the DLC tab. Clearing the cache is a client-side repair; it does not change ownership of the expansion. Once Steam restarts or asks you to sign in again, open the Download Manager and retry the Vienna download.

4. Repair the Steam library folder
- Open Steam > Settings.
- Select Storage.
- Open the options menu for the library that contains City Transport Simulator 2026.
- Choose Repair Folder.
Steam requires library folders to be writable. Permissions or a damaged library configuration can prevent an update or DLC package from being created even when the account owns it. Repair the folder that actually contains the game, not an unused library on another drive. When the repair finishes, retry the item from Download Manager.
A successful folder repair does not itself prove that the Vienna files were downloaded. Check the queue again and distinguish a transfer that is progressing from one that is still blocked. If Steam reports a different library than expected, use the Storage view to identify where the game is installed before repairing.
5. Retry from Download Manager and change the download region if necessary
Open Steam’s Download Manager and retry the Vienna item. Note whether it begins transferring, remains queued, or fails immediately. If it repeatedly stalls or errors, temporarily change the content server region:
- Open Steam > Settings.
- Choose Downloads.
- Open Download Region.
- Select another nearby region and retry the download.
Steam explains that a regional content server can be slow, overloaded, or failing. Changing the region gives the client another server path without changing the game edition or the DLC entitlement. If the new region works, allow the package to finish before switching back. If every region fails in the same way, continue with the library, file, and storage checks rather than cycling through regions indefinitely.
The Download Manager is also where you can tell whether Steam has actually scheduled the add-on. A listed item with transfer activity is a download-state problem; an item that never appears after an entitlement check needs account or transaction attention.
6. Verify the installed game files
- In Steam Library, right-click City Transport Simulator 2026.
- Choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
Steam checks whether the local installation matches the files it expects and replaces files it identifies as incorrect. The check can take several minutes, especially on a large installation. When it completes, let any required download finish and then start the game to check for the Vienna map and content.
Steam notes that one or more files can appear to have failed verification because local configuration files are not replaced. That result is not, by itself, proof that the Vienna package failed. Look for whether Steam schedules a replacement download and whether the game launches with the expansion afterward.
Verification is most useful after Steam recognizes the DLC as owned and installed. Running it before the entitlement is visible cannot create an entitlement, and it may leave you with the same missing-content symptom. Record the final verification message and whether a follow-up download was required.

7. Check free space and try another library drive
Confirm that the library selected for City Transport Simulator 2026 has sufficient free space for the update or DLC and that the drive is writable. An installation can fail after authentication if Steam cannot create or update files. Steam recommends trying an alternate drive or library when installation errors continue:
- Check the free-space indicator for the library that contains the game.
- Make sure that library is available and not reporting an operating-system permission problem.
- If you have another Steam library, use it as a diagnostic option for the installation.
Moving or reinstalling to another library is a later step, not the first response to an absent DLC listing. Ownership must be correct before a different drive can help. If the alternate library succeeds, the original drive or library configuration is a stronger suspect than the purchase itself.
When Steam says the DLC is installed but Vienna is missing
Start by distinguishing a content problem from a download problem. If Vienna appears in the DLC tab and Steam reports it installed, run Verify integrity of game files from Properties > Installed Files. This is the official Steam repair step for files that are missing or corrupted. Wait for any replacement download to finish before launching the simulator.
If verification reports files that need to be reacquired, allow Steam to complete that work rather than starting the game immediately. Then reopen the game and check the map or route selection where the expansion’s content should appear. If the map is still absent after a completed verification, record the result and move to the support escalation path; do not repeatedly clear the cache or verify files without collecting new evidence.
“Installed” in the DLC panel is a Steam state, not a guarantee that every local file is healthy. That is why the verification result and the presence of a completed Download Manager queue matter when you report the problem.
Why the order of these fixes matters
Each step tests a different layer:
- Properties > DLC tests entitlement and Steam’s installation flag.
- Restarting and clearing the cache refresh the client’s locally stored download state.
- Repair Folder addresses the library’s ability to accept updates.
- Download Region tests the content-server path.
- Verify integrity compares local files with Steam’s expected installation.
- Storage and another library test whether the destination can create and update files.
Keeping these layers separate makes the final support report more useful. It also avoids spending time on hardware purchases or unrelated peripherals: the documented remedies are Steam account, client, library, server, file, and storage workflows.
Separate Steam errors from in-game faults

How to contact ViewApp through Steam
For a persistent post-launch or technical fault, use the game’s support flow in Steam:
- Open Steam Library and select City Transport Simulator 2026.
- Choose the support option and select Gameplay or technical issue.
- Choose I am having another problem.
- Select Contact Game Support.
Include enough detail for support to distinguish an entitlement issue from a damaged installation. Supply:
- The exact error text, copied rather than paraphrased.
- Your platform and edition.
- The Steam account and store region used for the purchase.
- Whether Vienna Expansion appears in Properties > DLC and what installation state it shows.

The official release announcement covers PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as well as PC. The menu paths in this guide—Steam Library, Steam Settings, Download Manager, library-folder repair, and file verification—are PC/Steam procedures only. Console storefronts use different account, add-on, and installation interfaces, so do not look for a Steam DLC tab or Steam library repair command on a console.
For a console purchase problem, first check that the console is signed in to the account that bought the expansion and that the transaction completed in that platform’s store. For a game behavior problem after the expansion is installed and the game loads, provide the platform, edition, exact message, and reproduction steps when contacting the developer’s support channel.

Does clearing Steam’s download cache remove the expansion?
No. Steam says cache clearing flushes locally cached configuration data and reacquires it from its servers. It does not change ownership. After Steam restarts, check the DLC tab and retry the Vienna item in Download Manager.
