- Disable Steam and third-party overlays for the test.
- Quit screen recorders, streaming tools, frame-rate counters, hardware-monitoring utilities, and performance “boosters.”
- Close ad-blockers, web optimizers, system cleaners, and other programs that filter traffic or watch processes.
- Pause any antivirus game mode or real-time component only long enough to test, and restore protection immediately afterward. Security software can produce false positives around copy-protection files.
- Do not run several game launchers, compatibility layers, or tuning utilities during the same test.

The game crashes before a window appears

Separate a game problem from a Steam or hardware problem
