Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 started crashing, stuttering, or loading slowly after an update, begin with the platform and the exact symptom: PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S; then distinguish a launch failure, mid-mission crash, freeze after Alt-Tab, low frame rate, or a prolonged load. On PC, restart and verify the game files before trying deeper fixes. On consoles, use the platform-specific power, update, and system-maintenance steps below.
Focus Entertainment’s latest listed update, Patch 15.0 (October 1, 2026), includes loading-time, memory, performance, connectivity, crash, and stability improvements, but gives no measured results and does not promise to resolve every player’s issue. Read the official patch notes.
Identify the platform and what is going wrong
Use the troubleshooting path that matches both your platform and symptom. A local crash or stutter is different from a connection error; if the problem is specifically online connectivity, use Saber’s separate connection-error support section rather than treating it as a graphics or stability fault.
- PC: Note whether you use Steam, Epic Games Store, or the Xbox app. Is the game failing to launch, crashing during a mission, freezing after Alt-Tab, stuttering, or taking too long to load?
- PS5 or Xbox Series X|S: Record whether the game crashes or freezes, and whether it happens at startup or during play.
- Long load: Specify whether the delay is at game startup, when entering a mission, or during matchmaking. These are different stages and can point to different causes.
Saber’s crash and performance support section separates PC symptom guides from console crash guidance.

PC: work through crashes and freezes in order
These steps are checks, not a guaranteed diagnosis. Start with reversible actions and proceed only as needed. Saber’s crash guide says a failed or interrupted update can leave broken game files and that shaders can become corrupted after a game or driver update.
- Restart the PC. This is Saber’s first general troubleshooting step.
- Verify the game files in your launcher. Use the launcher’s file-verification option for Steam, Epic Games Store, or the Xbox app. This checks for damaged or missing files; the labels and menu locations vary by launcher.
- Temporarily close overlays and likely interfering tools. Test with overlays from Discord, Steam, NVIDIA App, or AMD Adrenalin closed. RGB utilities and third-party antivirus are also listed as possible sources of interference. If you temporarily pause security software as a diagnostic, restore it immediately after the test; do not leave protection disabled.
- If the problem began after a game or driver update, clear the shader cache using Saber’s instructions for your GPU vendor. The first launch afterward will take longer while shaders rebuild, and some stuttering in the first few minutes is expected. That temporary stutter is not by itself evidence that the step failed.
- Test without extra USB devices or controllers. Disconnect items such as VR headsets, steering wheels, flight sticks, additional controllers, and external drives. If a gamepad appears to trigger an immediate launch failure, try launching with mouse and keyboard, then reconnect the controller at the main menu.
If the issue remains, follow the specific section of Saber’s guide for launch crashes, mid-mission crashes, or freezing after Alt-Tab. Avoid switching to network fixes unless the actual symptom is a connection error.

PC: troubleshoot stuttering or low frame rates
Start by disconnecting extra USB devices as described above. If that does not help, Saber’s low-FPS and stuttering guide recommends these more involved checks:
- Clean-install the graphics driver. Use the procedure for your graphics-card vendor rather than layering a new driver over the existing installation.
- Test with a Windows clean boot. This starts Windows with a reduced set of background programs and services so you can check whether other software is contributing to the problem. Treat it as a diagnostic: after testing, re-enable startup programs methodically to identify a possible conflict.
- Reinstall the game if other steps fail. Saber’s guide says progress is stored in the account or cloud saves rather than in the game files. That statement is the support guidance for this troubleshooting context; do not assume it establishes save behavior for every platform or account configuration.
A narrow Intel Arc case
Intel’s support article, reviewed July 16, 2026, describes brief freezing or stuttering during the opening cutscene on specified Intel Arc products and recommends graphics driver 32.0.101.7028 or later. This applies to that described Intel-specific case, not generally to AMD or NVIDIA systems or to every type of stutter. See Intel’s Space Marine 2 support article.

PS5: address crashes and freezes
Follow Saber’s PS5 crash guidance. Do not use Rest Mode as a substitute for a full power cycle.
- Fully power-cycle the console. Shut it down completely, rather than putting it into Rest Mode.
- Check for game and system updates. Install any available updates before testing again.
- Clear the system software cache and rebuild the database in Safe Mode. Follow the current menu paths in Saber’s PS5 guide, because console menus can change. Saber says these operations do not delete games or saves.
- Check ventilation and overheating. Keep the console’s vents unobstructed. Before removing dust from vents, power the console down and unplug it.
- Reinstall the game if the earlier steps do not help.
Xbox Series X|S: address crashes and freezes
Use Saber’s Xbox crash guidance. Xbox troubleshooting does not include the PS5 cache-clearing or database-rebuild procedure.

- Reinstall the game if necessary. Saber places this later in the troubleshooting sequence.
Long loads: check storage and the loading stage
First determine whether the delay occurs at startup, when entering a mission, or during matchmaking. On PC, Focus’s published system requirements specify an SSD and 75 GB of available storage. Check that the game is installed on an SSD and that the drive has the required available space; these are requirements checks, not proof that buying a new drive will fix a particular slow load. The requirements page does not show a publication date: Space Marine 2 PC system requirements.
For console storage upgrades, the official sources cited here do not establish a specific remedy for slow loads. Patch notes can show that the game has received loading-time work, but not how much faster it will load on an individual system. Patch 15.0, dated October 1, 2026, lists “Loading times improvements.” Patch 13.0, dated May 21, 2026, also listed minor loading-time improvements. Neither note reports a measured reduction.
