If Pebbles, meteorites, trail rewards, or animal-photo rewards are not appearing in Over the Hill, update the game before changing your route or repeating objectives. Funselektor’s update 26.10.16_57fb763 adjusted meteorite spawn points in every area, fixed recovery missions and challenge trails that failed to pay Pebbles on later completions, and corrected the counter that could fail to increase after photographing animals.
For a meteorite that is visible but will not move, use a direct winch connection from the vehicle to the meteorite, hold the throttle and winch together, and drive away with room to pull. In co-op, each assisting vehicle must connect directly to the meteorite; vehicle-to-vehicle chains do not follow the documented setup.
Start by identifying which Pebble problem you have
“Pebbles not spawning” can describe several different failures. The right fix depends on whether the game is using an old build, whether a meteorite is missing from a changed location, whether the meteorite is present but extraction inputs are wrong, or whether an objective completed without awarding currency.

This separation prevents a common waste of time: trying to pull a meteorite when the real problem is an obsolete map marker, or repeatedly replaying a trail when the build itself is the cause.

Install the update before troubleshooting anything else
Make sure the game is running a build that includes 26.10.16_57fb763. The update is the central fix for the three currency-related symptoms covered here: moved meteorite spawn points, repeat-objective rewards that failed to pay, and the animal-photography increment counter. It also includes a fix for transparent terrain on some older GPUs.
- Close the game completely rather than leaving it suspended.
- Use your platform’s normal game-update control and install every pending update for Over the Hill.
- Check the build or update information shown by the platform or game launcher and confirm that the installed version includes 26.10.16_57fb763.
- Launch the game again and load the area or save in which the problem occurred.
- Test one symptom at a time: inspect the revised meteorite area, retry the extraction procedure, or repeat the affected objective.
If your platform does not display a build number in the launcher, the practical test is whether the update is offered as installed and whether the post-update behavior changes. Do not use a community map’s old coordinates as proof that the game is still broken; the map publisher explicitly warns that its meteorite coordinates have not been verified against the revised positions.
Extract a meteorite with the documented solo procedure
A meteorite that is on the ground but refuses to emerge is usually an input or attachment problem. The developer’s documented routine is short, but each connection and control matters.
- Park with an escape path. Stop close enough to reach the meteorite with the winch, while leaving enough room to drive away in a straight or gently curving line. If the vehicle is boxed against rocks, trees, or a slope, the winch can pull against the environment instead of moving the meteorite.
- Attach the first end of the winch to the rear of your vehicle. The documented setup uses the back of the vehicle as the vehicle-side anchor.
- Attach the other end directly to the meteorite. Select the meteorite itself as the target. A line that is attached to another vehicle, a nearby object, or an indirect point is not the documented extraction connection.
- Hold the throttle and activate the winch at the same time. The vehicle must pull under engine power while the winch is engaged. Applying only one of the two inputs does not reproduce the documented method.
- Drive away from the meteorite while continuing the pull. Keep moving until the meteorite comes out. The developer’s guide says a correctly attached meteorite should emerge within seconds.
- Release only after extraction. If the meteorite has not moved, stop and inspect the two attachment points instead of driving farther and stretching the line around an obstacle.
The expected result is a meteorite that comes out within seconds when the connection is direct and both controls are applied. There is no published fixed time beyond that guidance, so a player should not infer a guaranteed extraction timer from a single attempt.

Check the connection before changing vehicles
- Look at the vehicle end of the line and confirm it is anchored to the rear, not merely touching the vehicle.
- Look at the meteorite end and confirm the target is the meteorite itself.
- Keep the line as straight as the terrain allows. A sharp bend around an obstacle can make a valid-looking setup ineffective.
- Maintain throttle and winch together while moving away; tapping one control briefly is not the same test.
- If the vehicle is already nose-to-object or against scenery, reposition it and repeat the setup with more room.
Use a different co-op setup for large meteorites
Co-op adds a strict connection rule. Every helping vehicle must attach its own line directly to the meteorite. Do not connect one vehicle to another and then connect only the lead vehicle to the meteorite. That vehicle-to-vehicle chain is not the setup described in the developer’s guide.
- Have the primary vehicle park with a clear route away from the meteorite.
- Attach the primary vehicle’s winch directly to the meteorite.
- Have each assisting vehicle position itself where it can pull without crossing another line or striking scenery.
- Attach each assisting vehicle’s winch directly to the same meteorite.
- Coordinate throttle and winch use so the vehicles pull together rather than at unrelated times.
- If the meteorite is large and the combined pull is insufficient, add players as the guide recommends, then repeat the direct-connection setup.
The material available for this issue does not publish a player-count threshold for each meteorite. Adding players is therefore an escalation for a large meteorite, not a promise that a particular number will always be required.
Why a chain fails the test
In a chain, the second vehicle’s force is transmitted through the first vehicle rather than being attached to the meteorite. That differs from the documented requirement that every helping vehicle connect directly to the target. Disconnect the chain completely and give each vehicle its own line before judging whether co-op extraction works.
If the meteorite still will not come out
Work through these checks in order so that each attempt tests one variable.

- Recheck the target. Disconnect and reconnect the meteorite end. Ensure the hook is on the meteorite, not on a nearby rock, vehicle, or terrain feature.
- Recheck the vehicle end. Reattach to the rear of the vehicle used for pulling.
- Apply both inputs continuously. Hold throttle and winch at the same time while driving away.
- Improve the launch position. Move to a spot with room to leave the meteorite and avoid wrapping the line around scenery.
- Remove co-op chains. In a group, disconnect vehicle-to-vehicle lines and give every assisting vehicle a direct meteorite connection.
- Add help for a large meteorite. The developer’s guidance allows adding players when the object needs more pulling force, but does not specify a universal count.
- Record the location and report it in-game. If the documented setup still fails, the final escalation named in the guide is an in-game report that includes the recorded location.
Do not substitute a guessed respawn timer for these checks. No exact meteorite respawn schedule is published for this issue, and waiting a particular number of minutes is not an evidence-based fix.
Do not trust an old meteorite map pin as a current spawn location
The community interactive map is useful for generating search leads, but it carries an important warning: update 26.10.16_57fb763 moved meteorite spawn positions in every area, and the map’s coordinates have not been verified against those revised locations. A pin that was accurate before the update can therefore send you to an empty patch of terrain even when your game is working correctly.
How to search from a stale pin
- Confirm the game is updated.
- Use the old pin as the starting area, not as an exact guarantee.
- Inspect nearby routes, clearings, and terrain features where a vehicle could approach and pull away.
- Look for the meteorite in the revised location rather than repeatedly reloading the old coordinate.
- If you find a current position, record the area for your own future runs; do not assume every community coordinate has already been corrected.
This distinction matters because “nothing spawned at the pin” and “nothing spawned anywhere in the area” are different observations. The former is expected when a marker has not caught up with the patch; the latter should be tested again on the updated build and, if persistent, reported with the location.

Funselektor’s official Steam update states: “We’ve also resolved an issue that prevented players from receiving Pebble rewards for completing objectives repeatedly (i.e. completing a trail for the second time), and adjusted meteorite spawn points, so everyone should now have a better time collecting the in-game currency and upgrading their vehicles.”

That wording specifically covers objectives completed more than once. If a challenge trail or recovery mission completed successfully but paid nothing on a later run, update first and then replay it. Keep the test simple: note the Pebble total before starting, complete the objective, and check the total after the completion screen. The fix addresses the reward failure; it does not establish a universal payout for every trail or mission.
Animal photographs
The same update fixed a Pebble increment-counter glitch that could leave the total unchanged after photographing an animal. On an updated build, take the qualifying photograph again and check the currency counter after the game registers the image. If the counter still does not change, record the animal, area, and sequence of actions for an in-game report rather than assuming that every animal photo has the same reward.

Use these numbers as community-recorded references, not as guarantees for a current save. They do not replace the update or explain a counter that fails to increment.
Transparent terrain on an older GPU
Transparent terrain is a separate visual symptom, but it can make a meteorite seem absent or make a route appear unusable. Update 26.10.16_57fb763 addressed transparent terrain affecting some older GPUs. Install that update before changing graphics settings or blaming a map coordinate.

If the terrain remains transparent after updating, document the graphics hardware, the area where it occurs, and whether the problem appears only near meteorites or across the whole map. The available guidance confirms the update fix but does not provide a universal graphics-setting change or a complete list of affected GPU models, so avoid promising a particular driver version or setting as a guaranteed cure.

Keeping these limits in view prevents false certainty. A community count, an old coordinate, or one successful pull does not establish a timer, payout, or required group size for every meteorite.
A practical decision path
- Update. Install the build containing 26.10.16_57fb763.
- Classify the symptom. Is the problem a missing meteorite at an old pin, a visible meteorite that will not move, a repeat objective with no reward, an animal-photo counter that does not rise, or transparent terrain?
- Use the matching test. Search around the stale pin, perform the direct-winch pull, replay the objective, retake the photo, or relaunch the updated build for the visual symptom.
- Apply the co-op rule if relevant. Every assisting vehicle connects directly to the meteorite; never use a vehicle chain.
- Escalate with evidence. If the updated build and documented inputs fail, record the location and submit an in-game report.
This path distinguishes a patched software issue from a changed map reference and from an extraction setup that simply does not match the developer’s instructions.
How to make a useful in-game report
The documented escalation is an in-game report with the recorded location. Include enough context for the location and symptom to be reproduced:
- Area and the exact spot where the meteorite or objective was expected.
- Whether the game was running update 26.10.16_57fb763.
- Whether the meteorite was visible.
- Solo or co-op status, including whether every helping vehicle was connected directly.
- Whether throttle and winch were held together while driving away.
- For reward problems, whether the objective was a repeat completion or an animal photograph.
- For visual problems, the affected area and the older GPU involved, if known.
A location-based report is more actionable than a general statement that Pebbles are missing, especially after map positions have moved in every area.
