Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →If a PagePeeker thumbnail is missing fonts or icons, first confirm that the target site’s font files, stylesheets, and icon assets are publicly reachable. Then check whether PagePeeker returned a cached thumbnail or whether the capture failed or redirected. PagePeeker documents refresh and wait options for some accounts, but its public documentation does not promise a font- or icon-specific fix.
Why fonts or icons may be missing
A screenshot can only show assets the capture process successfully loads. Font files or icon resources may be unavailable to a server-side capture if they require a logged-in session, live only on localhost, are blocked on a private host, or otherwise cannot be reached from outside your development environment. These are general possibilities to investigate, not causes PagePeeker identifies for a particular capture.
There is another possibility: the image you are viewing may not represent the latest render. PagePeeker says generated thumbnails are cached on its servers for several days. Its robot page says it attempts to fetch a site once every 5–7 days; that is a service-level description, not a guaranteed retry interval for an individual request or account.
PagePeeker’s home page says it uses “two different rendering techniques” to generate screenshots and thumbnails. That vendor statement does not establish that every external font or icon will load in every capture. The public documentation reviewed does not specify the renderer’s browser or operating system, its cross-origin font-fetch behavior, or a setting that repairs missing glyphs.

Diagnose the problem in order
1. Verify the page assets from outside your development environment
- Open the target page in a private browser window where you are not signed in. Check whether its typography and icons appear there.
- Inspect the page’s font and icon requests in your browser’s developer tools. Look for failed requests, access errors, or URLs that point to localhost, a private network, or an authenticated resource.
- Confirm that the public page can serve the relevant stylesheets, fonts, and icon files without relying on cookies or credentials available only on your machine.
If assets fail in a normal public visit, fix their hosting or access first. If they work for you but remain missing in PagePeeker, do not assume the cause: the public PagePeeker material does not document its asset-fetch policy in enough detail to identify it.
2. Find out whether the thumbnail is stale or the render is pending
PagePeeker’s V2 API documentation describes refresh as a premium option to regenerate a thumbnail and wait as a premium option that can wait for a generated thumbnail rather than immediately returning a placeholder. Check your account’s entitlement and the current API documentation before using either parameter. The documented wait value is a maximum number of seconds, but the allowed value depends on the request.

Refreshing may help you see a newer render after fixing an asset issue, but it is not a documented font-loading fix. Likewise, waiting longer is not a guarantee that missing fonts or icons will appear.
3. Inspect the capture response
For paid and unbranded accounts, PagePeeker documents these response headers: X-PP-Capture-Method, X-PP-Capture-Time, X-PP-Final-URL, X-PP-Hash, X-PP-Timestamp, and X-PP-Error. They can help you determine whether the capture errored, followed a redirect, used an unexpected capture method, or may refer to an older result. Availability may depend on your account.

- Compare
X-PP-Final-URLwith the URL you requested. If they differ, investigate the destination page and its assets. - Check
X-PP-Errorfor an error indication before treating the image as a successful capture. - Record capture time, timestamp, method, and hash so you can identify the exact result you are troubleshooting.
4. Contact PagePeeker if the cause remains unclear
Send PagePeeker support the target URL, approximate request time, thumbnail size, whether you requested a refresh, and the available X-PP-* headers and hash. Do not include your API credentials in a public message. PagePeeker provides a contact form.
What PagePeeker options can—and cannot—tell you
PagePeeker recommends its V2 API. Its premium full-page capture service can be customized for page width and maximum height, compression, overlays, and wait times. The documentation does not say those customizations fix missing fonts or icons. Changing capture settings without evidence of a related problem may add complexity without addressing the cause.

There is no documented font-loading toggle, icon-font option, supported-font-format list, or PagePeeker-specific procedure for repairing missing glyphs in the public material reviewed. Treat refresh and wait as tools for handling a potentially stale or pending image—not as guaranteed fixes for missing assets.

If you need a screenshot through a different service, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its one-request API can return an image or PDF; for example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of a public page. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters and response details.
