If the Mistbury Catacombs gate will not open, first look at the four indicator lights above the sarcophagus. The dungeon requires four separate switches, and each successful activation lights one indicator. If fewer than four lights are on, retrace the four branches and check for a missed interaction or locked metal door. If all four lights are on and the gate remains shut, completely quit Enshrouded, relaunch it, and redo the catacombs; this is the most consistently reported player workaround. Avoid teleporting or leaving halfway through the sequence when possible. A repeatable failure that survives a redo should be reported through the game’s Escape-menu support flow with reproduction details and logs.
What the Mistbury Catacombs puzzle is supposed to do
Mistbury Catacombs is a Springlands dungeon. Its central puzzle has four separate switch routes. Activating a switch lights one of four indicators positioned above the final gate, the doorway with the sarcophagus behind it. The gate is intended to open only after all four indicators are lit.
That means the lights are a better diagnostic than the switch animations themselves. A lever can appear to have moved while the game has not recorded the interaction, and a player can overlook one branch while assuming every switch was checked. Count the indicators in the central chamber before attempting any reset.
The dungeon’s listed unique reward is the Pikemead’s Bulwark shield. One route includes a locked metal door that requires a lockpick. The lockpick is an in-game progression item; no physical purchase or hardware is involved.

Start with the four-light check
Return to the chamber containing the sarcophagus gate and inspect the indicators above it. Use this result to choose the next action rather than immediately restarting.

Fix fewer-than-four lights
1. Retrace all four branches from the central chamber
Use the central room as your starting point and deliberately inspect each route. Do not rely on memory of having passed through an area: look for the switch itself and confirm the corresponding indicator changes when you activate it. The walkthrough published by Dot Esports in 2024 describes four required switches and states that each one lights one of the four indicators above the sarcophagus door.

Because the indicators are one-for-one with the switches, a total below four means the immediate goal is finding an unregistered switch, not repairing the gate. Walk each branch to its end before returning to the center. If you are playing with others, have one player call out the number of lit indicators while another checks a branch; this prevents the same route from being searched repeatedly.
2. Interact with the switch instead of attacking it
Some dungeon mechanisms respond to an interaction prompt rather than a projectile or ordinary attack. Stand close enough for the interaction prompt to appear and use the game’s interact command. Wait for the switch to complete its movement, then return to the central room and verify that a new light is on. Shooting or striking a mechanism can fail to advance the puzzle even when it produces a visible effect.
3. Check the locked metal door
One route includes a metal door that cannot be opened until you use a lockpick. Treat the lockpick as a normal in-game item tied to progression. If that branch is the only one you have not completed, obtain the required lockpick, open the door, and continue to its switch. There is no reason to buy a physical lock, tool, or replacement part for this puzzle.

4. Recheck the indicators after every suspected activation
After each branch, return to the central chamber or use a clear view of the gate and count the lights. The count tells you whether the game accepted the action. If a switch appears activated but the count does not increase, approach it again and use the interaction prompt. If the count remains unchanged, note which branch and switch failed; that detail is useful if you later report a bug.
Fix all four lights on but a closed gate
Four illuminated indicators with a closed gate is a different case from a missed switch. It matches player reports of a stuck quest or dungeon state. The best-supported recovery is a complete application restart followed by a fresh run through the catacombs.
- Return to a safe location if the game still responds normally.
- Save any work you can without starting another puzzle transition.
- Quit Enshrouded completely. Closing only a menu, returning to the title screen, or suspending the application is not the same as ending the game process.
- Launch the game again and load the affected world.
- Travel back to Mistbury Catacombs and redo the four-switch sequence from the beginning.
- After each activation, verify the indicator count. When the fourth light comes on, return to the sarcophagus gate and test it before leaving the dungeon.
A Steam player report dated January 26, 2024 describes solving the closed-gate condition by exiting the game completely and redoing the catacombs. This is a community recovery report, not a guarantee that every save will respond identically, but it is the clearest known workaround for the four-lights-on state.
Why leaving or teleporting can matter
Players have associated the failure with leaving the dungeon to obtain equipment and returning later. That association is anecdotal, not an official rule, and it does not establish that teleporting always causes the bug. Nevertheless, while you are attempting the sequence, avoid unnecessary teleports, world transitions, or long interruptions. Bring the lockpick and other likely equipment before starting, complete the four branches in one visit when practical, and check the gate before departing.
If you already left or teleported and the gate is now stuck, do not assume the save is permanently unusable. Apply the full-quit-and-redo procedure first. The purpose of the restart is to clear a possibly stale quest or dungeon state, not to change your character’s inventory.

Community bypass when restarting fails
A community-reported workaround is to reach the final room from above and drop into it. This can bypass the locked gate if the level geometry allows access from your position, but it is not an official fix. The route may depend on construction, movement abilities, world state, or a later geometry change, so treat it as an emergency access method rather than a dependable solution.
- Use it only after confirming that all four indicators are lit and a complete restart with a redo did not open the gate.
- Expect the bypass to be version- and location-dependent.
- Do not treat reaching the room as proof that the underlying quest state is repaired; a bypass may let you enter without correcting the trigger.
- Capture a screenshot or video if the bypass is the only way you can reproduce the problem, since that evidence helps support staff identify the state mismatch.
When to report the problem instead of repeating the puzzle
Submit a report when the same failure returns after a complete restart and a fresh attempt, when a particular switch repeatedly refuses to register, or when the indicators and gate disagree in a reproducible way. Official support requests a detailed description, screenshots or video, DxDiag output, and the client log and backup files.
Information to include
- Your game version, world or server type, and whether the session was solo or multiplayer.
- How many indicators were lit when the gate failed.
- Which branch or switch appeared not to register, including whether the locked metal door and lockpick were involved.
- Whether you left, teleported, disconnected, or changed equipment during the sequence.
- The exact restart steps you tried and whether the failure returned on a fresh run.
- Screenshots or a short video showing the four indicators and the closed sarcophagus gate.
- The requested DxDiag report, client log, and backup files attached through the support workflow.
How to open the report
- Open the in-game Escape menu.
- Choose the support or bug-report option presented there.
- Describe the reproduction steps in order rather than writing only “door is stuck.”
- Attach the requested diagnostics and visual evidence, then submit the report.
Keep a copy of the report details. If a later patch changes the behavior, those details help you determine whether the original trigger still exists.
What the patch history tells you
Keen Games previously published a fix for “an issue with the quest in Mistbury Catacombs that could lead to resetting of that quest’s progress.” That note confirms that the dungeon has had quest-state problems in the past. It does not prove that every current closed-gate case is fixed, nor does it identify the exact trigger for a particular save.
The official news index lists Enshrouded 1.0 as released on October 15, 2026, followed by hotfix 1.0.0.2 on October 16, 2026. These dates are version context, not a promise that the hotfix addresses Mistbury Catacombs. Before applying a version-specific workaround or concluding that a bug is current, check the live official changelog for the build installed on your PC or server. Patch notes can change the reliability of a route, a trigger, or a geometry-based bypass.

The practical decision is simple: preserve the run while the indicator count is below four; restart when all four are lit but the gate is closed; report the issue when the restart-and-redo cycle does not solve a reproducible failure. The table distinguishes what is documented as normal behavior from what comes only from player reports.

Counting switches instead of indicators
Seeing four locations on a route map does not prove that all four activations registered. Use the lights above the gate as the authoritative visible check for your current run.
Assuming a weapon hit is an interaction
A switch that needs the interact command can remain unregistered after repeated attacks. Stand beside it, wait for the prompt, and activate it normally.
Leaving the lockpick behind
The locked metal door can make a complete route appear inaccessible. The required item is virtual and belongs to the game’s progression, so obtain it before abandoning that branch.
Restarting without redoing the dungeon
Closing and reopening the game alone does not test the recovery. The workaround reported by players includes both a complete quit and a new traversal of the catacombs.

Calling an anecdote a guaranteed trigger
Reports linking the bug to teleporting or leaving mid-puzzle are useful precautions, but they are not confirmed reproduction steps. Record what happened in your save without assuming every player can reproduce it.

Do I need to restart Enshrouded to fix the Queen’s Tomb door?
If you mean the Mistbury Catacombs sarcophagus gate, restart only after confirming that all four indicators are lit. With fewer than four, finish the missing switch route first. With four lights and a closed gate, fully quitting and redoing the dungeon is the recommended player workaround.
Is the lockpick a real-world purchase?
No. It is an in-game item needed for one metal door on the route.
Is there an official statistic for how often this bug occurs?
No authoritative frequency or failure-rate figure has been published. The documented count is four required switches and four corresponding indicators, not a measurement of bug prevalence.
Will the previous Keen Games quest fix repair my save?
Not necessarily. The historical patch addressed a quest-progress reset issue, but it does not guarantee that every currently stuck gate has the same cause or that an existing save will recover automatically.
