First identify which Sound Assistant feature is missing, then check your Galaxy phone’s One UI version: Samsung has confirmed that reverse stereo is no longer available on ordinary smartphones from One UI 7.0. If app-by-app sound settings stop working after a restart, check whether Battery settings are restricting Sound Assistant in the background. These are different problems, so a missing control does not necessarily mean the app or phone is faulty.
Identify the feature and your One UI version
Sound Assistant is a Samsung Good Lock software module for adjusting audio behavior on Galaxy devices. Depending on the device and software version, its controls can include per-app volume, fine volume increments, a customizable volume panel, assigning the volume buttons to media, and preventing navigation audio from interrupting other sound. These are software settings, not evidence that a speaker, cable, or headphones need repair.
Before troubleshooting, note the exact control or behavior that is missing, your phone model and form factor, and its One UI version. Samsung does not publish a complete model-, region-, and version-by-version compatibility matrix in the sources available here, so support for one Galaxy model or feature should not be assumed for every device. For current app availability and release information, check Samsung’s Galaxy Store listing for Sound Assistant on your device.
If reverse stereo is missing, check whether Samsung removed it
Samsung has documented a deliberate change to the reverse stereo control. In a Samsung Members reply dated 11 August 2025, a Good Lock moderator said that Sound Assistant’s reverse stereo feature is no longer provided for ordinary smartphone types starting with One UI 7.0. Samsung Members context also notes an earlier removal on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 in release notes concerning system sound-processing stability. The moderator’s One UI 7.0 statement specifically covers ordinary smartphone types.

If your phone falls within the stated change, reinstalling Sound Assistant or changing battery settings will not restore the control. The feature’s absence is a software-version and form-factor change, not by itself a sign of a broken audio component.
If per-app sound settings stop working after a restart
Samsung Good Lock support addressed a report from a Galaxy S25+ user whose individually configured app sounds stopped applying after rebooting on One UI 8. The settings worked again after the user opened Sound Assistant manually. Samsung recommended checking its background battery restrictions:

- Check Sleeping apps and Deep sleeping apps. If Sound Assistant appears in either list, remove it.
- Add Sound Assistant to Never auto sleeping apps.
- If the issue returns, send an error report with device logs through Samsung Members while the problem is occurring, so support can inspect the case.

What Sound Assistant can—and cannot—change
Samsung describes Sound Assistant as a way to adjust Galaxy audio controls in software. In its Newsroom coverage, Samsung lists per-app volume, volume-key reassignment to media, navigation audio that continues without interrupting other sound, volume changes in increments from one to ten, and a customizable volume panel. Samsung’s Galaxy Store listing also describes customized voice-effects support from One UI 6; check the live listing on your phone for current availability.

Samsung reported more than 21 million cumulative downloads for its most-downloaded Good Lock features as of early March 2025 in an article published on 14 April 2025. That is a cumulative download figure, not a count of active users or a measure of compatibility with a particular Galaxy phone.
