If a LOTRO neighbor invitation is missing or the neighbor does not appear, check your The Wolves of Mordor entitlement and delivery conditions, then make sure the neighbor’s special item is displayed on a housing hook. LOTRO’s official sources describe that invitation mechanism but do not document a confirmed current invitation bug or a universal fix for failures after placement.
How LOTRO neighbor invitations are supposed to work
The Neighbours feature became available with Update 49.6, released September 30, 2026, for players with a qualifying pre-purchase of The Wolves of Mordor. LOTRO’s feature announcement says each neighbour provides a special item that can be placed on a housing hook in any of your homesteads; displaying the item acts as that neighbour’s invitation to visit. That means there are two different problems to distinguish: the item may not have reached your account or character, or the item may be present but not displayed on a hook. Seeing the item in inventory alone does not establish that the invitation is active.
Check entitlement and account delivery
Confirm the expansion edition
Neighbour access depends on the edition of The Wolves of Mordor purchased. The current FAQ says the Standard Edition allows selecting two neighbours, the Collector’s Edition three, and the Ultimate Edition all four launch neighbours. The FAQ also says individual neighbours are planned to be available account-wide for 1,495 LOTRO Points each in April 2027; this is a dated offer and may change, so verify the FAQ for current availability and terms. If you bought the expansion while logged in, the FAQ says you may need to log out and back in before account changes take effect. Sign out fully, then log back in and check the relevant character again.
Check the correct character and server for supplies
If you are expecting an Expedition Supplies box or another once-per-account delivery, LOTRO’s FAQ specifies that the receiving character must have the Novice trait. The supplies go to the first server and character you log into after the purchase. Check that server and character before concluding that the delivery is missing. These rules explain supplies delivery; the FAQ does not say that every neighbour invitation item is delivered through that box. LOTRO expansion FAQ

Find the neighbor item and place it on a housing hook
- Check the character that received the delivery. Look in that character’s inventory and relevant storage for the special neighbour item. If you cannot find it, confirm the entitlement and delivery conditions above.
- Go to one of your homesteads. The official feature description allows the item to be placed on a housing hook in any of your homesteads.
- Inspect the hook in Decoration Mode. LOTRO’s housing FAQ explains how to enter Decoration Mode and inspect a hook’s type. Use that information to check the hook you are trying to use and whether it is appropriate for the item. The FAQ is general housing guidance, not a Neighbours-specific troubleshooting guide. - Place and display the item on the hook. The invitation is represented by the item displayed on the hook, not merely by owning it. Recheck the hook after placement to see whether the item remains displayed.
If the neighbour still does not appear
If the item is on a housing hook and the neighbour still does not appear or the invitation does not work, the official materials cited here do not establish a confirmed current defect or a universal workaround. Avoid assuming that a particular relog, hook type, or re-placement will fix it beyond the documented entitlement and display checks.
Report a reproducible failure through Standing Stone Games support or its official bug-report channel. The official forum index directs bug reports to support and notes that player-to-player forum discussions are not official support. Include enough detail for support to distinguish an entitlement or delivery issue from a housing interaction problem:
