Logitech G Pro X2 Superstrike connects over Logitech LIGHTSPEED through its USB receiver; the model-specific setup material does not document Bluetooth pairing. Most connection failures are solved by rebuilding the cable–extension–receiver connection, keeping the receiver close to the mouse, updating both firmware components in G HUB, and then running G HUB’s Device Pairing Tool.
Start with the mouse connected by cable so you can separate a power or hardware problem from a lost wireless link. The procedure below covers a mouse that works only when wired, a receiver that G HUB cannot see, pairing lost after a firmware update, and interference or USB-port problems.
Understand how the Pro X2 Superstrike connects
The PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE is identified by Logitech as a “LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse.” Its normal wireless path is the mouse to the supplied LIGHTSPEED receiver, then the receiver to the computer. The supplied charging/data cable and extension adapter are part of the recommended receiver setup.
Do not begin by looking for a Bluetooth device in Windows or macOS. Logitech’s generic Bluetooth instructions are not model-specific, and the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE documentation reviewed for this model does not describe Bluetooth support or a Bluetooth pairing sequence. Treat the problem as LIGHTSPEED receiver pairing unless Logitech publishes model-specific Bluetooth instructions later.

What the included parts do
- USB charging/data cable: powers the mouse, carries data for wired use and firmware recovery, and provides the connection point for the receiver extension arrangement.
- Extension adapter: moves the receiver away from the computer and nearby electrical noise so it can sit close to the mouse.
- LIGHTSPEED receiver: is the radio endpoint that must be detected by G HUB and paired with the mouse.
Fast diagnosis by symptom
| What you see | Most useful interpretation | First action |
|---|---|---|
| Mouse does not work by cable or wirelessly | Check power, cable seating or a possible hardware fault before troubleshooting radio pairing. | Charge with the supplied cable and verify the LED status. |
| Mouse works by cable but stops when unplugged | The sensor and basic electronics work; investigate receiver detection, firmware synchronization, placement or pairing. | Keep the mouse on the cable and inspect the receiver in G HUB. |
| G HUB shows the mouse but not the receiver | The computer is not currently seeing the LIGHTSPEED receiver through its USB path. | Use a different direct USB port and bypass the extension adapter. |
| G HUB shows a receiver but the mouse is not linked | The receiver is present, but the mouse and receiver may have lost their synchronized pairing. | Update firmware with the mouse wired, then run Device Pairing Tool. |
| Connection is intermittent or stutters | Placement, 2.4 GHz interference, a hub or an unstable USB path can interrupt the radio link. | Put the receiver within 20 cm of the mouse and more than 2 m from Wi-Fi routers and other 2.4 GHz sources. |
| Failure began immediately after a firmware update | Firmware on the mouse and receiver may not be synchronized. | Reconnect by cable, let G HUB update both components, and pair again. |
Check power before repairing the wireless link
A nearly empty battery can look like a pairing failure because the mouse may switch off or stop maintaining a radio connection. Charge it with the supplied cable before changing software or USB settings.
- A flashing red power LED indicates approximately 15% charge.
- A pulsing green LED indicates that the mouse is charging.
Leave the cable connected during the remaining diagnostics. If the pointer and buttons work reliably in wired mode, you have a useful baseline: the mouse can communicate over USB, so the next checks should concentrate on the receiver, firmware and LIGHTSPEED pairing.
Rebuild the physical setup exactly
Use this sequence rather than plugging the receiver into a random hub or front-panel port while diagnosing:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Plug the supplied charging/data cable directly into the computer.
- Plug the extension adapter and the LIGHTSPEED receiver into the charging/data cable, as shown in the setup arrangement.
- Turn the mouse on.
- Place the receiver close to the mouse while testing. Logitech’s setup guidance specifies within 20 cm for optimal wireless performance.
A direct computer port removes a USB hub, monitor pass-through or dock from the fault path. Once the connection is stable, you can return to your preferred desk layout and check whether the extension adapter improves radio conditions.
Control distance and 2.4 GHz interference
LIGHTSPEED shares the crowded 2.4 GHz environment with Wi-Fi and other peripherals. Logitech’s model setup guidance says to use the mouse within 20 cm of the receiver and keep the receiver more than 2 m from sources of 2.4 GHz interference, such as Wi-Fi routers.
A practical placement test
- Move the receiver, using the extension adapter if necessary, to a position with a clear path to the mouse.
- Keep the receiver no farther than 20 cm from the mouse for the test.
- Move the receiver more than 2 m away from a Wi-Fi router and other prominent 2.4 GHz transmitters.
- Test pointer movement and several clicks for a few minutes before changing another variable.
If the mouse becomes stable only in this near-receiver arrangement, the original location was exposing the link to distance, shielding or interference. Keep the receiver in the better position rather than treating the symptom as a firmware fault.
Use wired mode to isolate the failure
Leave the mouse connected by its USB cable and test normal movement and clicks. Wired operation is not merely a temporary workaround; it tells you which branch of troubleshooting is appropriate.

Persistent failure in both modes points away from a simple LIGHTSPEED pairing problem.
- Wired input is reliable: keep the cable attached while repairing the receiver link. Concentrate on whether G HUB detects the receiver, whether firmware is current and whether Device Pairing Tool completes.
Do not repeatedly switch the mouse on and off while G HUB is attempting an update. Stable wired power and data make the recovery process more predictable.

Update mouse and receiver firmware in G HUB
When pairing broke after a firmware change, or when G HUB reports an available update, synchronize the two components before attempting to pair. Logitech states that G HUB can update the device and the LIGHTSPEED receiver simultaneously.
- Connect the mouse to the computer with the charging/data cable.
- Open Logitech G HUB.
- Wait for the mouse and receiver to appear. If G HUB presents a firmware-update banner, open it.
- Start the update and follow every on-screen instruction. Keep the cable connected and do not remove the receiver during the process.
- Allow G HUB to finish updating both the mouse and the LIGHTSPEED receiver before testing wireless mode.
If the banner does not appear, do not assume that pairing has been repaired. Continue with the USB-path checks and Device Pairing Tool procedure below. A firmware update can correct a lost synchronization, but it does not fix a receiver that the operating system cannot electrically see.
Change the receiver’s USB path
A receiver can be present but unavailable to G HUB because of a port, hub, dock or adapter. Make one physical change at a time so you know which change matters.
- Unplug the receiver.
- Plug it into a different direct USB port on the computer.
- Keep the mouse connected by cable and switched on.
- Wait for G HUB to refresh and check whether the receiver is now listed.
- If the receiver is in the extension adapter, disconnect it from that adapter and connect it directly to the computer for recovery.
Bypassing the extension adapter is a diagnostic step, not a requirement for normal use. If direct connection restores detection, inspect the adapter and its cable seating after pairing has been completed.
Run G HUB Device Pairing Tool
Use the built-in pairing workflow after the receiver is visible to G HUB and the mouse has been updated over USB.
- In G HUB, open Settings.
- Choose Device Pairing Tool.
- Select the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE when the tool lists the mouse.
- Confirm that the LIGHTSPEED receiver is detected.
- Follow the on-screen pairing instructions and wait for the tool to report completion.
- Unplug the mouse cable and test movement and clicks wirelessly with the receiver close to the mouse.
If the tool does not detect the receiver, replug the receiver and repeat the tool with the receiver in a different direct USB port. If it detects the receiver but cannot complete pairing, leave the mouse on cable, complete any offered firmware update, and run the tool again. Avoid introducing a hub or long, untested cable until pairing is working.
Read G HUB’s detection state correctly
| G HUB state | What it establishes | Next decision |
|---|---|---|
| Mouse and receiver both listed | The computer can see both USB devices. | Check firmware status, then use Device Pairing Tool if wireless operation is not restored. |
| Mouse listed, receiver absent | Wired mouse communication works, but the receiver’s USB path is not detected. | Change direct USB ports and bypass the extension adapter. |
| Receiver listed, mouse absent while cable is connected | The receiver is visible, but the mouse’s wired data or power path is not. | Reseat the supplied cable, try another direct port and confirm the mouse is switched on. |
| Neither listed | G HUB has no usable connection to the setup at that moment. | Check power, cable seating, direct USB connection and whether the computer recognizes the devices before attempting pairing. |
| Pairing Tool completes but wireless still fails | The software pairing transaction succeeded, so placement or radio conditions remain possible causes. | Keep the receiver within 20 cm and more than 2 m from 2.4 GHz interference, then retest. |
Compare the two recovery setups
| Setup | Best use | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Receiver in extension adapter | Normal desk use when the adapter can place the receiver near the mouse and away from the computer. | Adds a cable and adapter connection that can become loose or faulty. |
| Receiver directly in the computer | Recovery and detection testing; removes the adapter from the chain. | May leave the receiver behind a PC or close to electrical noise, so it is not always the best permanent position. |
| Mouse wired by USB | Charging, firmware synchronization and separating USB operation from radio operation. | It does not prove that the receiver radio link is repaired until the cable is removed. |
| Mouse wireless with receiver nearby | Final verification of pairing and radio stability. | Distance and 2.4 GHz interference must remain within Logitech’s placement guidance. |
What firmware recovery can and cannot do
G HUB’s simultaneous update is useful when a firmware change leaves the mouse and receiver out of sync. It is not a general factory reset and cannot make an electrically invisible receiver appear. If G HUB cannot list the receiver, fix the USB path first. If both devices are listed but pairing fails, update, then run Device Pairing Tool.
Recommended Free Tools
The model-specific material does not publish a button combination for resetting the mouse, instructions for replacing a standalone receiver, or a Bluetooth pairing procedure. Avoid generic reset sequences and unrelated Logitech utilities. The older Logitech Connection Utility and Firmware Update Tool are no longer supported or maintained for this recovery path.
Connection troubleshooting is separate from performance settings
The PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE advertises features such as ten actuation-point steps, five rapid-trigger steps and six click-haptics strengths. Logitech also claims up to 30 ms of click-latency reduction. Those settings and claims do not change the physical pairing sequence: a mouse configured for a different actuation point still requires a detected, synchronized LIGHTSPEED receiver. Restore the link first, then adjust performance settings in G HUB.

Common mistakes that prolong the problem
- Searching for Bluetooth: the model-specific material describes LIGHTSPEED receiver operation, not a Bluetooth pairing method.
- Starting with a hub or dock: a hub adds another failure point. Use a direct computer port until recovery is complete.
- Leaving the receiver behind the computer: distance, metal shielding and nearby radios can make an otherwise healthy link unreliable.
- Updating only one component: Logitech’s recovery guidance is to update the device and LIGHTSPEED receiver together through G HUB.
- Running the pairing tool before fixing detection: Device Pairing Tool cannot pair a receiver that G HUB cannot see.
- Assuming a factory reset exists: the reviewed model documentation does not provide a factory-reset button sequence. Do not invent one or apply an unrelated mouse procedure.
- Replacing the receiver immediately: the documented recovery path is firmware synchronization, direct-port testing, adapter bypass and Device Pairing Tool. Follow those steps before concluding that replacement hardware is needed.
When the documented recovery path fails
Logitech’s current model page lists no product downloads or documents for this model and notes that the older Logitech Connection Utility and Firmware Update Tool are no longer supported or maintained. Those legacy utilities are therefore not a substitute for G HUB’s current recovery workflow.
Contact Logitech support or use the warranty process when all of the following are true:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- The mouse has been charged and works, or fails consistently, in wired mode.
- The receiver has been tried in more than one direct USB port.
- The extension adapter has been bypassed during recovery.
- G HUB firmware updating has been allowed to complete with the mouse connected by cable.
- Device Pairing Tool still cannot detect or pair the receiver.
- Correct placement within 20 cm and away from 2.4 GHz interference does not restore a stable link.
Have the model name, the steps already attempted, whether wired mode works, and whether G HUB lists the mouse or receiver ready when contacting support. The official material does not provide standalone receiver-replacement instructions, a model-specific Bluetooth method or a hidden reset sequence, so persistent failure after these checks should be treated as a possible hardware fault rather than solved with an undocumented combination.

Do not assume that any generic Logitech receiver will pair with this model. The model-specific instructions do not document a standalone receiver purchase or replacement procedure. Ask Logitech support to confirm compatibility and warranty options after you record the G HUB detection state and completed recovery steps.
If support confirms a hardware failure and a receiver-only remedy is unavailable, a complete Logitech G PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE wireless gaming mouse replacement is the appropriate commerce option. A repeatable recovery checklist
- Charge the mouse; a flashing red LED is about 15% charge and a pulsing green LED means charging.
- Connect the supplied cable directly to the computer.
- Connect the extension adapter and receiver to that cable, then switch on the mouse.
- For testing, position the receiver within 20 cm of the mouse and more than 2 m from Wi-Fi routers and other 2.4 GHz sources.
- Confirm whether wired movement and clicks work.
- In G HUB, install the firmware update so the mouse and receiver are updated together.
- Try another direct USB port; bypass the extension adapter if the receiver is not detected.
- Open G HUB Settings, launch Device Pairing Tool, select the mouse and complete the on-screen pairing.
- Unplug the cable and retest wireless operation.
- If the sequence still fails, stop using unsupported legacy utilities and escalate to Logitech support or warranty.
