If Thrifty Business is lagging, freezing, crashing to the home screen, loading forever, or showing an older save, start with reversible fixes: close other apps, force-close and reopen the game, restart your phone, update the game and operating system, and check storage and network stability. Do not clear app data or uninstall until you have verified that your save is linked to the same Apple, Game Center, Google Play Games, or in-game account you used before.
The mobile version is a single-player shop-management game from Spellgarden Games. The App Store listing confirms Game Center support, but public official information does not document every detail of its save system or provide a complete device-requirements matrix. That means account verification and save protection should come before any destructive troubleshooting.
Identify exactly what is failing
“Lag” can describe several different problems, and each points to a different remedy. Watch what happens for a full minute, then classify the symptom before changing settings. Write down whether the problem began after an update, a long play session, a network change, or a device restart.

Freeze or unresponsive screen
Buttons stop responding while the app remains visible. Wait briefly in case a scene or network request is completing, then force-close the app. A repeatable freeze during one action is useful evidence for the developer. Note whether audio continues, whether the screen responds after rotating or backgrounding the app, and whether the same shop or menu causes it every time.
Crash to the home screen
The app closes without warning or displays an operating-system crash dialog. Note whether it happens at launch, while loading a shop, after opening a customer story, or during an event. The trigger matters more than a generic statement that the game “keeps crashing.” Record whether the crash happens on Wi-Fi and mobile data, and whether a freshly restarted phone behaves differently.
Endless loading
A loading indicator continues indefinitely. Test another app and switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data if the game is contacting online services. - Close background apps. Open the app switcher and dismiss unused apps, especially games, video editors, camera apps, and browsers with many tabs. Do not use a “phone cleaner” that deletes app data.
- Force-close and reopen the game. Remove Thrifty Business from the app switcher, wait a few seconds, and launch it again. A clean launch can release a temporary memory or graphics fault. If the game was in the middle of saving, allow it to finish loading before closing it again.
- Restart the phone or tablet. Use the normal restart command, wait until the device has fully booted, and try the game before opening other apps. A restart clears transient system state without touching the game’s files.
- Install the latest game update. Check the App Store or Google Play update screen. A version mismatch can cause loading or account-session failures after a server-side change. Read the store version number when reporting the issue.
- Update iOS or Android when compatible. Install the operating-system update offered for your device, then restart once more. If the game’s store page lists a minimum version, remain on a supported release. Do not install an unofficial package or modified build.
- Check usable free storage. A nearly full device can slow app launches, prevent temporary files from being created, and interrupt updates. Remove safe-to-delete photos, downloads, or unused apps until the system reports comfortable free space. Do not delete the game while its save is unverified.
- Test the connection. If the game uses online account or cloud services, try a reliable Wi-Fi network and then mobile data (or the reverse). Avoid judging network performance from a single congested public hotspot. A successful test on one network is useful to include in a support report.
- Reduce heat and power pressure. Let a hot device cool, remove a heavy case during testing, and temporarily disable an extreme battery-saver mode. Thermal throttling can look like sudden frame-rate lag. Keep the device ventilated and avoid charging under bedding while testing.
Epic Games’ general mobile sequence similarly puts requirement checks, closing background apps, restarting, updating, and only then reinstalling. Reinstalling is deliberately last here because an unlinked local save can disappear.

Single-player does not necessarily mean every service is local. Account sign-in, cloud synchronization, store validation, or event content may still need a connection. If loading fails only on one network, restart the router or move to a stable connection, then retry once. If the game works offline but fails during sign-in, preserve the current installation and focus on the account rather than deleting files.
Android: clear only the cache first
Android menu names vary by manufacturer and version, but the safe path is usually:
- Open Settings.
- Choose Apps, Applications, or App management.
- Select Thrifty Business.
- Open Storage or Storage & cache.
- Tap Clear cache, then launch the game.
A cache contains temporary files. Clearing it is generally reversible and can repair a damaged download or stale rendering data. The wording may be “Clear cache” or “Clear cached data.” The first launch afterward may take longer while temporary files are rebuilt.
Do not confuse cache with data
Clear data, Clear storage, or similarly named commands remove the app’s local state. Do not select them while you are unsure where the save is stored. Support documentation from 2K specifically distinguishes cache from data and warns that clearing data or uninstalling can delete save files. If a support representative later asks you to clear data, verify the backup and account first, and ask what will happen to a guest save.
Check the active Google Play Games account
Open the Google Play Games profile or the account selector used by your device and confirm it is the same account that held the earlier progress. If several Google accounts are present, switch back to the original one, then restart Thrifty Business. Google states that some games autosave when you are signed in to Google Play Games, but not every game autosaves; the developer controls the game account and in-app data. A Google account on the phone is not proof that this particular game uploaded its save.

iPhone and iPad: protect the account before deleting anything
- Force-close Thrifty Business and reopen it.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad.
- Update the game from the App Store.
- Install a compatible iOS or iPadOS update.
- Open the device’s Game Center profile and confirm the Apple account is the one previously used.
- Check free storage and test a different network.
The App Store listing confirms Game Center support. It does not, by itself, prove whether every save is stored in Game Center, another account service, or only on the device. Therefore, do not delete the app merely as a test. Deleting it can remove a local save if synchronization was never completed. If the game offers an in-app account screen, record exactly what it shows before signing out.
Decide whether your progress is recoverable
Use the branch that matches your situation. If you cannot identify the account, stop before destructive actions. Never create a new profile on top of an old one while you are trying to recover the original.
Progress was linked to an account
- Write down the account identity currently shown by Game Center, Google Play Games, or the game’s own account screen.
- Sign out only if the game provides a normal in-game sign-out option, then sign back in with the account that held the progress.
- Update the game and restart the device.
- Check whether the earlier progress appears after a complete load rather than immediately after the title screen.
- If available, test the same account on another compatible device. Do not create a new save there before confirming which account is active.
- Reinstall only after you have verified that the backup or cloud copy is present. After installation, sign in with the identical account.
EA’s general mobile guidance follows this order and warns that reinstalling an unlinked game can permanently remove data. A successful sign-in does not guarantee that a game supports cloud saves, so treat the appearance of the old shop or progress as the confirmation.

Android account mismatch
Google recommends checking which Play Games account is active and switching to the account used previously. If the wrong account was selected during first launch, the game may create a new local profile that looks like lost progress. Google also notes that not all games autosave and that Google does not manage individual game accounts or in-app data; the developer does.
Unlinked guest or local save
Do not clear data, reset the phone, or uninstall. A local-only save may be recoverable only while its files remain on the device.
