Original release versus unidentified fan project
The distinction affects every troubleshooting decision. - the project’s exact name and official distribution page;
- the launcher or executable name and the build or release number;
- supported operating systems, architecture, and any stated hardware limits;
- required runtimes, drivers, redistributables, or online services;
- installation location and whether the project expects a clean directory;
- integrity information such as a published checksum;
- known error messages and the project’s issue-reporting channel;
