If a GTA Online Halloween activity won’t start, first confirm that the specific activity is currently available, then return to Freemode and retry it without another job or mode active. Check Rockstar’s service status next. Use connection troubleshooting only if you’re also seeing session or network errors; it cannot make a seasonal activity appear when it is unavailable.
Identify what you’re trying to launch
“Halloween mission” can refer to different kinds of content, and they may have different schedules and launch paths. Identify the exact activity before changing settings:

- Adversary Mode: a competitive job or mode.
- Survival: a wave-based activity that may also appear as a weekly challenge objective.
- Weekly challenge: an objective to complete an activity, not necessarily a separate Halloween mission.
- Freemode encounter: an event or encounter that takes place in the open world rather than through a job launch.
Note the activity’s name, where you’re trying to start it, and any message or missing marker. Those details help distinguish an unavailable activity from a launch failure.
Check the activity’s schedule
Seasonal content and weekly challenges are time-limited. Rockstar’s 2025 update notes list Halloween content from October 2 through November 6 for that year, including a Slasher variant from October 16 through November 6. These are historical dates, not confirmation that the same activity is available in 2026.

- STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
- FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
- TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
Check the current in-game listings or a current schedule before troubleshooting further. A community weekly update post published September 30, 2026 reports October weekly objectives, including Survival and Adversary Mode objectives; it is a secondary report, not an official Rockstar schedule.
Retry from a clean game state
- Return to Freemode and leave any ongoing job, mode, or other activity.
- Open the activity through its normal menu or launch location.
- If it still will not start, record the exact alert text or describe what happens at the launch point.
Rockstar says a feature-unavailable alert can mean a feature is temporarily offline or restricted, or that it conflicts with another activity, mode, game version, or in-game media. The alert’s wording can help narrow down the cause; see Rockstar’s feature-unavailable guidance.

Check Rockstar service status
Look up Rockstar Games Service Status when the problem occurs and check the entry for your platform. The status page captured September 26, 2026 at 1:20 AM UTC showed GTA Online operational on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. That timestamped snapshot does not show whether service is available when you read this, so check the page again at the time of failure.
Use connection troubleshooting only for connection symptoms
If you also cannot join sessions, see network errors, or have other signs of a connection problem, follow the instructions for your platform. Rockstar’s guides cover connection troubleshooting for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The PC guide recommends checking internet and service availability, restarting the game client, and investigating connection setup; console guidance covers connection, cache, and network settings.
