Start with the least destructive checks: launch Gravity Circuit 2 Demo from Steam, verify its installation if Steam reports missing or damaged files, then restart the demo with only one controller connected. For a black screen, check the graphics driver—especially on AMD hardware—while treating the known AMD 22.7.1 issue as historical evidence from the original game, not a confirmed Gravity Circuit 2 defect. If the demo displays its crash-report screen, copy the text with Ctrl+C and include it in a Steam Support request.
The Windows demo was released on October 15, 2026, by Domesticated Ant Games and Dear Villagers. It includes Kai and Cable, with the Kernel City and Artificial Lake stages; each character run takes roughly 20–30 minutes. The steps below separate confirmed information about this demo from practical isolation methods and older developer guidance.
Identify the failure before changing anything
Write down exactly what happens and when. “Crash” can mean the process closes immediately, freezes at launch, or stops during a stage. “Black screen” can mean a completely blank window, a window with sound but no picture, or a monitor that loses signal. A controller problem may be total non-detection, incorrect button assignments, or input that works in menus but not in play.

Do not assume that a controller failure caused a crash, or that a black screen proves a GPU fault. Test one variable at a time so the result tells you which branch to follow.

1. Confirm the Steam installation and launch path
SteamDB identifies the released Windows demo as app 4907770 and lists its executable as win64/GravityCircuit2.exe. Use Steam’s Library entry rather than opening an executable copied elsewhere; this keeps Steam’s installation state and controller handling in the test.
- Open Steam and select Gravity Circuit 2 Demo in your Library.
- Press Play and wait for the game window. If it opens, test the title screen before changing settings.
- If Steam reports a missing or damaged installation, open the game’s Properties and use the installed-files verification command. The exact wording can vary by Steam client version.
- Allow the check to finish, let Steam reacquire any changed files, and launch the demo again from the Library.
- If the same failure returns, note whether it happens before a window appears, after a window opens, or only when entering a stage.
File verification is a standard Steam recovery procedure. The available developer and store information does not identify it as a Gravity Circuit 2-specific cure, so a successful check should be treated as an installation result, not proof that every crash has the same cause.
2. Troubleshoot a controller with a clean start
Close the demo and test one physical controller
Exit the game completely. Connect or wake one controller, then confirm that Steam sees it before launching the demo again. A wired connection is useful during diagnosis because it removes wireless sleep, pairing, and battery variables. Do not change the entire layout yet; perform one simple tutorial action first and observe whether the game responds.

Know what the compatibility tags mean
SteamDB lists full controller support, DualShock Controllers, DualSense Controllers, USB variants for those controller families, and gamepad-preferred input. Those categories describe advertised compatibility. They are not a complete tested-device matrix and do not guarantee that every third-party pad, adapter, remapper, or custom layout will work.
Check the per-title Steam Input setting
If Steam detects the controller but the game receives no input or receives the wrong buttons, compare the game’s per-title Steam Input behavior with its alternate setting. In Steam, open the demo’s Properties and the Controller section, record the current choice, then test the other available behavior. Restart the demo after each change. No source confirms one particular Steam Input mode as a universal Gravity Circuit 2 fix, so restore the original setting if the alternate test makes no difference.
Remove competing input devices
Temporarily disconnect extra gamepads, steering wheels, arcade devices, and virtual-input software while testing. If one controller works and another does not, treat that result as a compatibility clue for that device or mapping layer, not as proof of a universal game bug. Reconnect devices one at a time after you have a repeatable working configuration.

Separate detection from mapping
- Steam does not see the controller: solve the connection, pairing, cable, or operating-system detection issue before changing the game layout.
- Steam sees it but the demo ignores it: test the alternate per-title Steam Input behavior with only that controller connected.
- The demo responds but buttons are wrong: test a clean default layout and one tutorial action before making custom bindings.
- Input stops after another device is connected: remove the additional device and repeat the single-controller test.
Keep the controller model, connection type, and Steam Input choice in your notes. Those details make a support report actionable and prevent you from repeating an inconclusive test.

Describe the display state precisely
First record whether the game window is visible, whether audio continues, and whether the problem appears at launch, on a menu, or while entering Kernel City or Artificial Lake. A black game window with continuing sound is different from a monitor that reports no signal. The distinction determines whether you are investigating rendering, a display-mode transition, or a broader system problem.
Check the graphics driver, with AMD history in mind
For the original Gravity Circuit demo, developer DomAnt documented a black-screen problem on AMD driver 22.7.1 and said that installing a newer or older driver fixed the reported case. If you use an AMD GPU, check the installed driver version and test a current supported driver or a known-good alternative using your normal driver-maintenance process. This is historical evidence, not confirmation that Gravity Circuit 2 contains the same defect; do not describe 22.7.1 as a proven cause for the 2026 demo.

On non-AMD hardware, still record the GPU model and driver version. The available Gravity Circuit 2 pages do not publish a vendor-specific black-screen list, a required driver version, or a demo patch note that names a display fix.
Use reversible isolation before deeper changes
- Close the demo and relaunch it from Steam after noting the driver version.
- Disconnect extra controllers and virtual-input devices so the test changes only one class of variable at a time.
- Check whether the failure is reproducible at the same point. A launch-only black screen and an in-stage transition failure should be reported separately.
- If a driver change is required, record the old and new versions and whether the symptom changed. Avoid repeatedly changing drivers without keeping that history.
Do not promise that a driver update will fix every black screen. The current listing provides no Gravity Circuit 2-specific frequency, root-cause statement, or guaranteed workaround.

4. Capture useful information when the demo crashes
Recognize the documented crash-report window
In a support thread for the original game, developer DomAnt explained that a crash could leave a blue screen inside the game window containing text and a prompt to copy it with Ctrl+C. This is not a Windows blue-screen-of-death report. If Gravity Circuit 2 presents a similar in-game report, preserve the complete text before closing the window. The quoted workflow is documented for the original game; no equivalent Gravity Circuit 2-specific reporting post is established.

Record the context around the crash
- Exact symptom: immediate close, freeze, black window, or error text.
- Timing: launch, title menu, character selection, stage loading, or a specific in-stage action.
- Character and stage: Kai or Cable, and Kernel City or Artificial Lake.
- GPU model and graphics-driver version.
- Controller model, connection type, and whether other input devices were connected.
- Whether file verification completed and whether the failure reproduced afterward.
- Any copied crash text, preserving line breaks where possible.
These details distinguish a repeatable game failure from a one-time interruption and give support staff enough context to compare reports.
Do not invent a crash rate
The current Steam listing and metadata do not publish a crash percentage, black-screen frequency, or controller-failure rate for the demo. They also do not provide a demo-specific list of fixed bugs. A report that says “the demo crashes every time when entering Artificial Lake with a DualSense on driver version X” is useful; a claim that “many players” are affected is not supported unless you have a source for it.
5. Escalate through Steam Support
If verification, a clean controller start, input isolation, and the appropriate driver check do not resolve the failure, use the Steam Support entry for the game. Submit the exact symptom rather than a general statement that the demo is broken.
- Open Steam Support and select the Gravity Circuit 2 demo entry.
- Choose the category that best matches the failure, such as launch, display, or controller behavior.
- Include the reproduction point, character and stage if relevant, GPU and driver version, controller model, Steam Input setting, and verification result.
- Paste the complete in-game crash text if the demo provided it.
- State which reversible tests changed the behavior, including whether disconnecting extra devices or changing the driver made a difference.
Keep the wording factual: identify what you observed, what you changed, and whether the result was repeatable. Do not label the historical AMD driver report as a confirmed Gravity Circuit 2 diagnosis.

What not to conclude from a failed test
- A DualShock or DualSense compatibility tag does not mean every clone, adapter, or remapped profile is guaranteed to function.
- A successful file check does not prove that the GPU driver or controller is healthy; it only tells you what Steam found in the installation.
- An AMD driver workaround documented for the original game does not establish the same bug in Gravity Circuit 2.
- A black screen with sound is not automatically a monitor failure, and a crash at launch is not automatically a controller problem.
- Changing several settings at once removes the evidence needed to identify the trigger.
Compact troubleshooting checklist
- Launch app 4907770 from the Steam Library.
- If Steam reports missing or damaged files, run its installed-files verification and relaunch.
- Close the demo, connect one controller, confirm Steam detects it, and test one tutorial action.

- Send the complete symptom, hardware, driver, controller, and test history to Steam Support if the problem remains.
