If Enshrouded XP is not increasing, first install the newest game update available for your platform and restart the client. This is especially important when the missing reward comes from an item set: Keen Games fixed an item-set XP bug in Patch #14 v0.9.1.1 (revision 1013216), published April 29, 2026.
Next, determine whether the bar is moving slowly or receiving no XP at all. Slower progress in later regions can be intentional because Keen Games reworked the level curve in the November 5, 2024 Souls of the Frozen Frontier update. A reward that remains completely absent after updating, restarting, and repeating the same trigger needs separate troubleshooting.
Start with the symptom, not a supposed XP fix
“XP not increasing” describes several different situations. Use the source of the reward and the behavior of the bar to choose the right first check.

The official material currently documents one specific XP defect—the item-set reward problem. It does not establish that every missing quest, combat, or exploration reward has the same cause.

Why Enshrouded XP may look stuck
Item-set XP was a documented bug
Patch #14 v0.9.1.1, revision 1013216, was published on April 29, 2026. Its notes state: “Fixed an issue with XP rewards for item sets. The XP now gets granted as intended.” If your missing XP is tied to an item-set reward, this is the closest official match for the symptom. Updating is therefore more useful than experimenting with undocumented settings or commands.
The patch note confirms the correction, but it does not provide a retroactive repair procedure for an earlier failed reward. After updating, perform the same item-set action again and watch the bar immediately. If the reward still fails, preserve the details of the failed attempt rather than assuming that every old save will repair itself automatically.

The later-game curve was intentionally changed
In the November 5, 2024 Souls of the Frozen Frontier update, Keen Games said XP sources had begun stacking too quickly in later regions. The developer reworked the XP required for leveling to spread progression out later in the journey. As a result, a character can gain XP normally while needing more of it to reach the next level.
This change means the visual experience of slow progress is not proof that XP is broken. The useful distinction is whether the displayed amount changes after a qualifying activity. A moving bar with a larger gap to the next level is a progression-curve question; a reward that never appears after a repeatable trigger is an error-isolation question.

Your client build can change the result
Official hot-fix listings continue through Hotfix #42 v0.9.1.2, dated June 29, 2026. Players on an older build may therefore encounter behavior that a later update corrected. “Latest” is platform-dependent, so use the update mechanism for your PC or console and check the installed version after the download completes.
Do not use a friend’s version, an old screenshot, or a launch-era guide as proof that your client is current. Record the exact version shown by your installation; version numbers make a report reproducible and prevent a fixed issue from being diagnosed as a new one.

1. Identify the exact XP trigger
Before changing settings or loading a different save, write down what was supposed to award XP:
- an item-set reward;
- a quest completion;
- an enemy or combat encounter; or
- an exploration action.
Also note the world, character, location, level, displayed XP before the action, displayed XP afterward, and whether any reward notification appeared. “No XP anywhere” and “one activity failed once” are different reports and should not be investigated as if they were identical.

2. Update Enshrouded completely
- Close the game.
- Open your platform’s game library or launcher and check for an Enshrouded update.
- Install the newest available client build, including any hot-fix queued after the main update.
- Launch the game again and confirm the installed version in the client’s information or title-screen area.
The official patch history makes this the evidence-based first intervention. It addresses the known item-set defect and rules out an outdated client before you investigate a save or trigger.
3. Restart after updating
Exit to the platform rather than merely returning to a menu, then relaunch Enshrouded. Load the same world and character used for the failed attempt. This keeps the test controlled: if you change the world, character, activity, and client state at once, you cannot tell which change mattered.

4. Repeat the identical activity
Use the same item-set action, quest step, encounter type, or exploration action that previously failed. Record the XP value immediately before and after it. If the bar advances, the update and restart resolved the observed failure. If it does not, repeat once more only if the trigger is safe and naturally repeatable; do not manufacture progress by deleting saves or using unverified commands.
5. Compare a second, clearly different trigger
When practical, test one other XP source with the same character and world. The purpose is diagnosis, not farming. If the second source works while the original does not, the problem is probably tied to the original trigger or its state. If neither changes the bar, a broader client or save-state issue becomes more plausible.

6. Preserve a concise evidence log
Keep the following information together:
- platform and game version;
- world and character;
- character level and location;
- the exact action that should award XP;
- XP displayed before and after;
- whether a reward notification appeared;
- whether the same action failed before the update and after the restart; and
- the date and time of the test.
A short recording or screenshot showing the trigger and the unchanged bar can supplement the written log. This evidence is more useful than a statement that the bar is simply “stuck.”
Checks for each XP source
Item-set rewards
Item-set XP is the only source-specific defect explicitly identified in the cited official notes. Confirm that the client is newer than the April 29, 2026 Patch #14 v0.9.1.1 revision, restart, and repeat the same item-set action. If the reward appears after the update, the patch addressed the problem. If it remains absent, document the exact set and trigger, then report the repeatable result with your version and save details.
The notes do not say that an earlier missed reward is automatically backfilled, nor do they publish a command to grant it manually. Do not assume that replaying an unrelated activity will restore the missing item-set XP.
Quest rewards
No official source cited here identifies a general quest-XP failure. Check whether the quest state actually reached its completion condition, then repeat the test after updating and restarting. Compare the XP display before turning in the quest and immediately afterward. If other sources work but this one quest does not, include the quest name, objective state, and location in your report rather than labeling the whole progression system defective.

Combat rewards
Combat XP can be investigated without assuming a universal enemy-value table. Select a repeatable encounter, record the bar before engaging, and check it again after the encounter is complete. Do not infer a bug solely because the increase is small; the official material does not publish a complete XP table or promise a fixed amount for every enemy.

Use the same method for an exploration action: record the location and the visible XP state, perform the action once, and check for a change. If the action is one-time-only, avoid repeating it destructively. A missing one-time reward is especially important to document because the available official material provides no universal reset or save-repair method.

Watch the numeric XP display, not only the distance to the next level. A reworked level requirement can make the bar appear to crawl even while the displayed total rises. The November 5, 2024 progression change specifically addressed rapid stacking in later regions, so late-game comparisons with early-game leveling are not necessarily like-for-like.
Use this practical test:
- Note the exact XP value before an activity.
- Complete one activity whose trigger you can identify.
- Check whether the value changed, even slightly.
- Repeat the same activity only when it is naturally repeatable.
If the number changes, investigate the level requirement and region context rather than searching for a missing reward. If the number never changes, continue with the update, restart, same-save retest, and evidence steps above.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating slow progress as no progress: check the displayed XP value before concluding that the system awarded nothing.
- Testing before updating: an old build can reproduce a defect already fixed by a hot-fix.
- Changing several variables at once: switching worlds, characters, activities, and settings destroys the comparison you need for diagnosis.
- Assuming every source shares the item-set bug: the official note names item-set rewards only.
- Using undocumented commands or multipliers: no official universal command or multiplier is established here, and unverified changes can complicate a save-state investigation.
- Deleting or overwriting a save as a first step: the available notes do not promise that this repairs missing XP, so preserve your evidence before taking irreversible action.
A compact decision path
- Is the issue tied to an item set? Update past Patch #14 v0.9.1.1, restart, and repeat the trigger.
- Does the XP number move at all? If yes, treat the symptom as slow progression and consider the later-game curve. If no, continue testing.
- Does another source work in the same world and character? If yes, document the failed source specifically. If no, document the broader failure.
- Does the failure persist on the current client after a restart? Preserve the version, trigger, location, before-and-after values, and repeatability in a bug report.
This sequence narrows the cause without promising a fix that the official record does not support. It also gives support staff enough context to distinguish a known item-set regression from a progression-curve misunderstanding or a separate save/client problem.
