You cannot apply a confirmed retail fix for Crazy Taxi: World Tour yet. As of October 19, 2026, the game is not available for purchase; Steam lists a planned 2027 release. The only published PC specifications come from SEGA’s closed network test, which used a development build that may contain bugs or performance problems. SEGA has not published a retail troubleshooting flow, a supported-controller list, or symptom-specific fixes. You can still prepare your system and use a disciplined diagnostic process when a test or launch build is available.

What “fixing” the game means right now

The title in the question describes problems players normally solve after release, but Crazy Taxi: World Tour has not reached retail release. Steam currently shows 2027 as the planned release window, so reports from a future test or launch build must be tied to that build’s version and platform. A workaround that helps a development test may disappear when the game is updated and should not be presented as a permanent retail solution.

SEGA described its closed network test as an evaluation of multiplayer stability. The test used a development build, and SEGA warned participants that they could encounter bugs or performance issues and that a smooth experience was not guaranteed. The final game’s hardware requirements may differ from the test figures. That warning is important: a crash, stutter, or disconnected controller in the test is evidence about that build, not proof that the same fault will exist in the released game.

Platforms in the published plans

Platform What the current information establishes
Steam on PC Included in the closed test; Steam lists a planned 2027 release.
Xbox Series X|S Included in the closed test.
Xbox on PC Included in the closed test as a separate test platform.
PlayStation 5 Included in the closed test.
Nintendo Switch 2 SEGA says the full version will also release on this platform; it was not listed among the closed-test platforms in the published test scope.

Do not merge those two lists. Test availability does not establish final launch timing, feature parity, or support status for every platform.

Closed-test PC requirements (not retail requirements)

The following figures were published for the closed development test only. They are useful for checking whether a test computer was in the intended range, but they are not confirmed minimum or recommended requirements for the retail game.

Specification Closed-test required target Closed-test recommended target
Operating system Windows 10 Windows 11
Processor Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Intel Core i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
Memory 12 GB RAM 16 GB RAM
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 with 4 GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 with 8 GB or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT with 12 GB
Graphics API DirectX 12 DirectX 12
Internet Broadband internet Broadband internet
Storage 12 GB on an SSD 12 GB on an SSD
Published performance target 1080p, low settings, 30 FPS 1080p, high settings, 60 FPS

Steam’s current listing names Windows 11 but leaves processor, graphics, sound-card, and additional-requirement fields unspecified. That is the clearest indication that retail PC requirements are not final. Do not buy a graphics card, upgrade memory, or replace an SSD solely because of the test table.

The 2011 Steam release of the original Crazy Taxi is a different game and listing. Its requirements cannot be reused to predict what World Tour will need.

Prepare a PC or console before testing

Preparation reduces variables without pretending that a particular setting is an official fix. Perform these checks before filing a bug report or changing several settings at once.

  1. Record the exact build. Write down the platform, store account, game version shown by the launcher, and whether you are in a closed test, preview, or retail release. A symptom that vanishes after an update may have been build-specific.
  2. Record the hardware. On PC, note the CPU, GPU and video-memory amount, system RAM, Windows version, DirectX version, display resolution, and whether the game is installed on an SSD. On console, note the model and available free storage.
  3. Make one baseline run. Use the game’s default settings, disconnect unnecessary USB devices, and reproduce the problem once. Changing resolution, drivers, controller software, and network equipment simultaneously makes the result impossible to interpret.
  4. Check update state. Install the platform’s pending system update and the game’s current patch before testing again. If the issue began immediately after a patch, record that fact rather than assuming your hardware failed.
  5. Keep storage headroom. The test listing called for 12 GB on an SSD. Leave additional free space for patches and shader caches; the amount required by the retail build is not yet published.
  6. Use a stable power and network setup. A laptop should be connected to its normal power adapter. For online testing, note whether the connection is wired or wireless and whether other devices are saturating the link.

When the game crashes

“Crash” can mean a launcher that never opens, a process that closes at a menu, a freeze during a race, or a console returning to its dashboard. Treat those as separate failures. The following workflow is a way to isolate the cause, not a list of fixes SEGA has confirmed for this game.

1. Classify the crash stage

  • Before the main menu: record whether a splash screen appears, whether an error code is shown, and whether the launcher reports a missing or incomplete installation.
  • When loading a race or online session: note the track or mode, whether the failure occurs offline, and whether it happens every time or only after matchmaking.
  • After playing for a while: record elapsed time, temperature or fan behavior if available, and whether lowering workload changes the timing.
  • Console dashboard or system restart: treat this as a platform-level stability event and preserve the console’s own error code for support.

2. Change one variable at a time

Restart the platform, launch the same build, and reproduce the same step. If the platform offers an official file-integrity or repair function, use that platform function and record the result; do not delete saves or configuration files unless current support instructions specifically request it. Avoid registry cleaners, unofficial DLL downloads, and launch options copied from another game.

3. Capture useful evidence

Write down the exact error text, timestamp, last action before the crash, connection mode, controller type, display settings, and whether a second attempt produced the same result. On PC, include the operating-system and driver versions in a report. On console, include the system software version and any platform error code. A short video of the failure can be more useful than a description such as “it crashes randomly.”

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. Check for a build-specific resolution

Use the current game’s official announcements, support channel, and platform status page for that version. A development-test crash may require a new build rather than a local adjustment. If an update changes the symptom, report both the failing and working versions.

When performance feels slow or laggy

Separate rendering performance from network delay before changing settings. A low frame rate affects local movement and camera smoothness; network latency produces delayed responses, rubber-banding, or matchmaking timeouts. They can occur together but require different evidence.

Identify rendering stutter

  • Test a repeatable offline scene, if the build provides one. If the same hitch appears with networking disabled, it is unlikely to be caused solely by internet latency.
  • Record resolution, graphics preset, frame-rate readout if the build provides one, and whether the problem is constant or occurs during effects-heavy scenes.
  • Compare one setting change at a time. The test’s published targets were 1080p at 30 FPS on low settings for the required tier and 1080p at 60 FPS on high settings for the recommended tier; those are targets for the test specification, not a promise that every retail mode will expose identical presets.
  • Watch for thermal or power limits on a laptop and for background applications consuming CPU, GPU, memory, or disk time. Close one known workload and retest rather than installing a “booster” utility.

Identify network delay

  • Record whether the symptom appears only in multiplayer, during matchmaking, or on a particular region or session.
  • Note connection type, approximate household network activity, and whether other online services are also slow.
  • Do not turn a single timeout into a claim that the game has a general server problem. Test again at a different time and preserve the session or error identifier when one is shown.

Because no retail performance telemetry or failure-rate statistics have been published, there is no evidence-based “best” graphics preset or latency threshold to promise for World Tour.

When a controller is not detected or maps incorrectly

SEGA has not published a retail controller compatibility list or controller-specific settings for this game. A controller that works in the operating system may still be unsupported by a particular build, while a test-only input layer may change before launch. Diagnose the connection without naming a model as guaranteed to work.

Check the connection path

  1. Identify whether the controller is connected by USB, Bluetooth, or a console wireless link. Record the exact connection type.
  2. Use the platform’s own controller test to confirm that buttons and sticks are visible before opening the game.
  3. Connect one controller only. Disconnect wheels, fight sticks, virtual gamepads, and unused adapters while testing for basic detection.
  4. If the controller is visible to the platform but absent in the game, record whether keyboard or another input device still works. That distinguishes game input recognition from a physical connection fault.
  5. Test a second connection method only if the platform officially supports it, and record which method changes the result.

Resolve mapping conflicts carefully

Input-remapping layers, accessibility utilities, and overlays can present a controller as a different device. Disable one such layer for a test and restore it if the result is unchanged. Do not assume that forcing a compatibility mode, remapping every button, or installing a third-party driver is supported by SEGA. If the build offers an in-game controller profile, export or photograph the original mapping before changing it.

What to report

Include the platform, controller connection type, whether the platform test sees every input, the in-game symptom (no detection, wrong buttons, duplicate input, or intermittent disconnect), and whether the failure occurs offline as well as online. This information is more actionable than simply naming a controller family.

Platform-specific troubleshooting boundaries

Platform Useful first evidence What is not established yet
Steam on PC Windows version, CPU/GPU/RAM, driver versions, build number, crash stage, display settings, and controller connection. Final PC requirements, supported controller list, and a SEGA-approved launch-option recipe.
Xbox Series X|S Console model, system version, free storage, whether the issue is offline or online, and any dashboard error. A retail symptom-specific recovery sequence.
Xbox on PC Whether the problem occurs in the PC installation, the account or entitlement layer, or the controller connection. Final requirements or guaranteed parity with the Steam build.
PlayStation 5 System software version, storage state, crash stage, online mode, and controller connection. A published retail controller matrix or repair procedure.
Nintendo Switch 2 Use only launch documentation and support guidance available for the final version; record handheld or docked mode if relevant. Closed-test requirements or test-platform behavior, since the published test scope did not establish those details.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Do not treat test requirements as final minimums. SEGA explicitly says retail requirements may change, and Steam still marks several fields as unspecified.
  • Do not use the original 2011 game’s requirements. That listing describes a different title.
  • Do not infer compatibility from a single successful connection. Until SEGA publishes a list, describe a controller as tested on your setup, not officially supported.
  • Do not buy hardware to solve an unverified fault. No retail failure pattern or compatible-controller requirement has been established.
  • Do not report development-test behavior as a release defect. Include the build and test status in every report.
  • Do not apply random fixes from unrelated games. Registry edits, unofficial drivers, DLL downloads, and aggressive overclocking can create new failures and make support evidence harder to interpret.

A launch-day diagnostic checklist

When the retail build eventually arrives, use this order so that support staff can reproduce the issue:

  1. Confirm the store, platform, game version, and current platform software.
  2. Compare your hardware with the final requirements published for that release, not the closed-test table.
  3. Run one clean baseline with default settings and one controller connected.
  4. Classify the symptom as launch crash, in-game crash, rendering stutter, network delay, input detection, mapping, or disconnect.
  5. Repeat once offline and once online when the mode permits.
  6. Change a single setting or connection variable, then repeat the same action.
  7. Save error codes, timestamps, videos, and the exact steps that trigger the problem.
  8. Check the current SEGA and platform support notices for that build before attempting deeper changes.

This process produces a reproducible report without claiming a workaround that has not been validated for the released game. Until the 2027 launch and final documentation, that is the most accurate way to handle crashes, lag, and controller problems in Crazy Taxi: World Tour.
