If My Recycling Center 2 crashes, stutters, or stops responding to an Xbox controller, use this order: quit the game, remove it from Quick Resume, fully restart the console, install all game and Xbox updates, check storage and installation location, then isolate the controller. Reinstall only after those checks. Recent PC patch notes list fixes for paint-gun and pressure-washer crashes, container-placement input, Two-Shaft Shredder behavior, an achievement, and a shredder snapping issue; however, those notes do not verify that every fix is already in the Xbox build.

What the symptoms usually mean

The same visible symptom can have different causes. A crash during a particular tool action points toward a repeatable game defect; a game that becomes unstable only after resuming from suspension points toward a bad saved session; and an unresponsive controller may be caused by power, firmware, connection, or game-specific input handling. Work through the checks in sequence so you change one variable at a time.

  • Crashing: First rule out a suspended session, pending update, storage problem, or installation issue. Note the exact action immediately before the crash.
  • Lag or stutter: Start with a fresh launch and an updated console rather than replacing hardware. Record whether the slowdown is constant, tied to a machine or area, or appears only after a long session.
  • Controller failure: Check power and the physical connection, update controller firmware, and compare with a wired or known-good controller. If another game works normally, the remaining problem may be specific to My Recycling Center 2.

The developer has announced a console version for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One with optimized physics and graphics, faster save and load logic, and revised controller controls and interface. Those design goals do not eliminate bugs, so troubleshooting still needs to separate a transient console state from a defect that can be reproduced.

Install the latest fixes before diagnosing anything else

Updates can change the result of every later test. The dated notes below are for the PC release and demonstrate that active bug fixing has occurred; they are not proof that the identical build number is installed on Xbox.

Update Date Documented change
1.01 14 October 2026 Fixed a crash while using the paint gun and pressure washer.
1.02 15 October 2026 Changed container-placement input and fixed Two-Shaft Shredder wear, dirt, and strength behavior.
1.03 17 October 2026 Fixed an achievement issue and a Two-Shaft Shredder snapping problem.

On Xbox, check the console’s system-update screen and the game’s update queue. Let downloads finish, then restart the console before testing. If your crash happens with a paint gun, pressure washer, container placement, or Two-Shaft Shredder, record that detail when you report it; the PC notes show that these interactions have been targets of fixes, but Xbox-specific availability must be verified on the console itself.

Use a clean launch instead of Quick Resume

Quit the game from Home

  1. Press the Xbox button to open Home.
  2. Highlight My Recycling Center 2.
  3. Press the Menu button on the controller.
  4. Choose Quit.
  5. Launch the game again from Home. Do not select a suspended session.

Quitting removes the current game process. It is different from leaving the title suspended, which can preserve a session state that has already become unstable.

Remove the game from Quick Resume

Open the Xbox Quick Resume list, select My Recycling Center 2, and use the available remove option. If your console offers a way to disable Quick Resume for the title, use it while testing. Launch the game only after it has disappeared from the suspended list. This is especially important when a crash or input failure returns immediately after every resume but not after a clean launch.

Perform a complete Xbox restart

Use the console’s full restart command rather than simply putting it into standby. A complete restart refreshes the game session and gives pending system or game updates an opportunity to apply. After the console starts again, launch the title once and test the same action that previously failed.

If the problem disappears after a full restart but returns when you resume from Quick Resume, keep using clean launches while you continue checking for updates. If it returns from a fresh launch, continue with storage and controller isolation instead of repeatedly power-cycling the console.

Check storage and where the game is installed

Leave room for updates

Verify that the Xbox has enough free storage for an update to download and install. A nearly full drive can prevent updates from completing, leaving you testing an older build. Recheck the update queue after freeing space.

Test internal storage

If the game is installed on an external drive and crashes continue, move it to the Xbox’s internal storage and test again. This is a diagnostic step, not a claim that every external drive causes crashes. Keep the same save and profile, and change only the installation location so the result is meaningful.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Interpret the result

  • If an internal-storage install stops the crashes, investigate the external drive, its cable, and available space.
  • If crashes continue from internal storage after a clean launch and current updates, document the exact trigger for support.
  • If only one machine, area, or tool causes the failure, treat it as a possible repeatable game defect rather than a general console fault.

Fix lag by reducing session variables first

There is no published, reliable frame-rate or input-latency measurement for the Xbox version, so do not judge the problem against an invented target. Establish a reproducible baseline instead.

  1. Quit the game and remove it from Quick Resume.
  2. Fully restart the Xbox.
  3. Install all available Xbox and game updates.
  4. Launch a fresh session from internal storage if the game had been on an external drive.
  5. Repeat the same route or machine interaction where the slowdown occurred.
  6. Write down whether the lag is present immediately, begins near a particular machine or area, or appears only after playing for a long time.

This record helps distinguish a repeatable in-game problem from a session or storage issue. A slowdown that follows one machine or action is useful evidence for a bug report. A slowdown that disappears after quitting Quick Resume points more strongly to the suspended session. Do not assume that a controller replacement, network change, or other hardware purchase will correct a performance defect without this isolation.

Diagnose an Xbox controller that does not work

Check power and the physical connection

  • Confirm that the controller’s batteries are charged, or that its rechargeable pack has power.
  • If you use a cable, reconnect it at both ends and test another suitable cable if available.
  • Turn the controller off and back on, then reconnect it to the console.
  • Watch for the controller disconnecting in Home as well as inside the game. A Home-level failure indicates an input path problem outside the title.

Update controller firmware

Use the Xbox Accessories app on the console or another supported Xbox device to check for controller firmware updates. Install an offered update, reconnect the controller, and retest the game from a clean launch.

Use a wired or known-good controller as a control

Test with a wired controller or a known-good Xbox Wireless Controller. If the second controller works while the original fails in both Home and the game, investigate the original controller’s power, cable, wireless connection, or hardware. If both controllers fail only in My Recycling Center 2 while another game responds normally, preserve that comparison for a game-side report.

A replacement controller can be relevant to persistent disconnects, battery problems, or unresponsive input. It is not a remedy for a confirmed game crash or a general performance bug, so do not treat buying hardware as the first crash fix.

Separate menu, movement, and machine-specific input

Record what still works. For example, note whether the Xbox button and Home navigation respond, whether movement works but a tool action does not, or whether input stops only while placing a container. The 1.02 notes document container-placement input changes on another platform, making the exact failing action particularly valuable to developers. Avoid repeatedly changing controller settings while testing; one clean comparison is more informative.

Reinstall only after the local checks fail

Reinstallation is the final local step after quitting, Quick Resume removal, a full restart, updates, storage checks, and controller isolation. Before deleting anything, confirm that the correct Xbox profile is signed in and that your save information is synchronized with the cloud. Reinstall the game, allow every update to finish, restart the console, and then test a new launch.

Do not delete local save data as a first response. A reinstall can replace damaged game files, but it cannot correct a defect that is present in the current build, and deleting unsynchronized data can remove progress.

It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
  • Xbox model: Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, or Xbox Series X.
  • The game version shown on your console and the date you tested.
  • Whether the installation was on internal or external storage.
  • The exact action immediately before the crash, lag spike, or input loss.
  • Whether the issue occurs from a fresh launch, after Quick Resume, or both.
  • Whether a wired or known-good Xbox Wireless Controller changed the result.
  • Whether the same controller works in Xbox Home and another game.
  • Any pattern involving a paint gun, pressure washer, container placement, or Two-Shaft Shredder.

Include the result of each test rather than only saying that the game is broken. “Crashes every time when the pressure washer is activated after a fresh launch on internal storage, with two controllers” is actionable; “it crashes sometimes” is not.

When the evidence points to an unresolved game bug

Stop repeating hardware changes when the failure is consistent on a fresh launch, after updates, from internal storage, and with more than one controller. No reliable public source provides an Xbox crash rate, frame-rate figure, or input-latency statistic for this game, so claims that a specific percentage of players are affected or that a controller swap will cure crashes would be unsupported. The dated 1.01–1.03 notes show ongoing fixes on PC, while the available console announcement confirms the Xbox One and Series X|S target and its optimization work without establishing that every PC patch is present on Xbox.

At that point, preserve your save, keep the reproduction steps, and wait for a console-specific update or support response rather than risking progress through repeated deletions.
