Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf Chrome on Android fills a saved password without asking for your fingerprint, check whether its sensitive-information verification setting is enabled: open Chrome > More > Settings > Passwords and Autofill > Autofill settings, then turn on Verify it’s you when filling sensitive info. For saved payment cards, check the separate verification setting under Payment methods. Chrome may use your screen lock instead of a fingerprint.
Check which kind of information Chrome is filling
Chrome has separate verification controls for sensitive information and payment methods. Start with the setting that matches what is being filled; turning on one does not necessarily enable the other.
- Passwords and other sensitive information: Check Verify it’s you when filling sensitive info in Autofill settings.
- Saved payment cards: Check Verify it’s you to autofill payment methods under Payment methods.
Turn on verification for passwords and sensitive information
- Open Chrome on your Android device and tap More (the three-dot menu).
- Tap Settings > Passwords and Autofill > Autofill settings.
- Turn on Verify it’s you when filling sensitive info.
Google says additional re-authentication for sensitive information is on by default unless it has been disabled. When this setting is off, Chrome does not show biometric or screen-lock authentication during sensitive-information autofill. See Google’s Android instructions for filling forms automatically in Chrome.
Turn on the separate card verification setting
- In Chrome, tap More > Settings > Payment methods.
- Turn on Verify it’s you to autofill payment methods.
When you enter a card for the first time, Chrome still requires you to type its security code manually. After that, fingerprint or device-lock verification can be used for payment-method autofill, according to Google’s Chrome Help.

- 360 Degree Detection: The Fingerprint Login Key is a 360 degree detection and reading fingerprint, one account can set 10 fingerprints, can be set for multiple accounts, and automatically log in to the account through fingerprints.
- Self Learning Algorithm: USB Fingerprint Reader automatically improve fingerprint information after each successful recognition, adapt to subtle changes in fingerprints, continuously improve the recognition rate, and become more sensitive the more you using.
- Support System: The Laptop Fingerprint Reader supports for 7, for 8, for 10, for 11, for 1Password, for Keeper, for Dashlane, for Enpass, for RoBoForm, for KeePass, for LastPass and other third party software.
- Small and Portable: The biometric fingerprint scanner is small and portable, which can be inserted into the USB port of the computer and used to complete the login and verification on the supported website by identifying the fingerprint.
- 0.5s Recognition: The USB Fingerprint Reader verifies fingerprints in 0.5 seconds, securely protecting your logins and data with an advanced fingerprint security device.
Know what verification to expect
A fingerprint prompt is not guaranteed. Chrome can use the device’s default screen lock—such as a passcode or password—when biometrics are unavailable. If the setting is on but Chrome asks for your screen lock, that may be the expected fallback rather than a failure.
Confirm which autofill service is active
Chrome can fill data from Google Password Manager or from another autofill service. If a third-party service is selected, Chrome uses that provider as the source of autofill data. Check the choice under Chrome > Settings > Autofill services. If you change providers, restart Chrome. Google documented native third-party autofill support for Chrome on Android in an October 24, 2024 post describing Chrome 131-era support: Chrome’s third-party autofill announcement.

Provider selection affects where Chrome gets saved data; Google’s documentation does not compare individual providers’ security features or recommend a particular password manager. If the credentials you expect are stored with a different provider, check that provider’s Android and Chrome selection before troubleshooting the Chrome prompt further.
If autofill suggestions are missing too
Missing suggestions are a separate issue from a missing verification prompt. Check that the relevant information is saved and that Save and fill is enabled. Chrome may also omit suggestions if a site is not considered secure enough for autofill or if it cannot detect the form fields correctly. Those causes can explain why nothing is offered to fill, but do not by themselves explain why verification is absent when autofill does occur. Google’s Chrome Help covers these autofill checks.

If the settings are already enabled
If the matching verification switch is on and the device has a screen lock configured, the documented guidance does not establish a universal fix for every Android device and Chrome version. Note your Android and Chrome versions, the affected field type, the selected autofill provider, and the exact setting labels you see. Those details help distinguish a provider or version-specific behavior from a device-level problem.
Quick Recap
