To fix audio out of sync on a StreamVoodoo YouTube stream, first find where the mismatch begins: compare the StreamVoodoo room or output, OBS preview, a local recording, and YouTube playback. Then troubleshoot that stage. A fixed offset and audio that drifts further out of sync over time point to different problems. StreamVoodoo’s public FAQ explains audio routing and echo prevention, but does not document a dedicated lip-sync diagnostic or adjustment.
Find the first point where audio and video separate
Do not start by adding an audio delay or changing YouTube’s latency mode. First determine whether the mismatch is already present in StreamVoodoo, appears in OBS, or shows up only in YouTube playback. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance likewise distinguishes problems visible in the encoder or local archive from problems that arise farther along the delivery path.
- Make a short, repeatable test. Speak while visible on camera or clap once on camera so the sound and picture have an obvious matching event. Use the same source and setup while checking each stage.
- Check the StreamVoodoo room or output. Compare the event in the room or Magic Link output. Note whether the picture and sound already disagree there.
- Check OBS preview. If OBS is part of the workflow, compare its preview with the StreamVoodoo output. Look at the stream/record output as well as any audio monitoring you use.
- Make a local recording. Review the recording near the same event. This helps distinguish an issue in the encoded output from one heard only through local monitoring.
- Check YouTube playback. Compare the same event in the live playback. If OBS and the local recording are aligned but YouTube is not, focus on stream health and delivery rather than applying a capture-source offset.
This is a diagnostic sequence based on the documented StreamVoodoo and YouTube workflows, not a product-specific procedure published or tested by StreamVoodoo. YouTube’s checks for encoder output, local archive, encoder errors, CPU load, and outbound connection are described in its live-stream troubleshooting guidance.
Identify whether the offset is fixed or grows over time
A steady offset
If the same sound consistently arrives before or after the matching picture by roughly the same amount, the problem may be associated with a particular source or processing stage. Confirm where it first appears and measure the direction and approximate size before changing a setting. Do not assume the same adjustment applies to every microphone, camera, capture card, or routing setup.

Drift that increases during the stream
If the sound and picture start close together but diverge more as time passes, treat that as a different symptom from a fixed offset. OBS community discussion identifies audio refresh-rate mismatch and computer workload as possible diagnostic leads for varying timing, not guaranteed causes. Check that the relevant audio and video sources use consistent formats where possible, and watch system load while reproducing the issue. A forum participant also distinguishes monitoring drift from the stream or recording output, so verify the actual recording and encoded output rather than relying only on what you hear locally. These are community observations, not universal OBS behavior; see the OBS forum discussion.
If the mismatch starts in StreamVoodoo
Review the selected audio input and output and how audio is routed. StreamVoodoo’s FAQ describes connecting video sources, choosing audio devices, and sending audio to OBS through an audio-monitor plugin or virtual audio device. The FAQ does not provide a dedicated StreamVoodoo lip-sync offset or a product-specific procedure for diagnosing sync drift.

Check Studio Sound and speaker feedback
When Studio Sound is on, StreamVoodoo recommends headphones to keep sound from the room speakers from entering the microphone. Its FAQ explains: “The reason to use headphones is to prevent audio coming out from your speakers and going through your mic causing a feedback loop/echo.” That addresses feedback or echo; it is not a guaranteed lip-sync adjustment. If you hear an echo, first determine whether you are hearing feedback or duplicated audio rather than a delayed picture-and-sound pair.
Check for duplicated audio paths
StreamVoodoo warns that using the same output for room audio and desktop capture can duplicate audio. If you are routing room audio back into the room, select a separate output path for StreamVoodoo as its FAQ recommends. Duplicate sound can make the result seem confusing, but changing an offset will not correct a routing duplication. Refer to the StreamVoodoo WebApp FAQ for its published audio-routing details.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
If the mismatch first appears in OBS
Inspect the audio and video sources and their routing in the OBS setup. Establish whether the problem affects the OBS preview, local recording, and stream output, or only your local monitoring. Then check for changing timing, inconsistent audio formats, and high system load while repeating the test. A preview that sounds wrong does not by itself establish that the encoded stream or recording has the same problem.
Use a sync offset only after measuring
Once you have identified the affected source and measured which signal leads, an offset may be appropriate for that specific setup. Manufacturer instructions are device-specific: AVerMedia’s Live Gamer Ultra guide describes an OBS workflow and a Sync Offset range of -50 to -200 ms for that configuration. That range is not a universal OBS or StreamVoodoo value. Do not copy it to a different capture card or source; follow the instructions for your own device and verify the result with another recording.

If only YouTube playback is out of sync
If the OBS preview and local recording are aligned but YouTube playback is not, inspect YouTube Live Control Room stream health and encoder errors, check CPU load, and review the local archive. YouTube advises checking the encoder output and archive; if no source problem is apparent, it suggests trying a different encoder. If the outbound connection is faulty, its guidance points to the connection or internet service provider rather than a fixed lip-sync offset.
Connection trouble is a separate diagnostic path. OBS says dropped frames indicate a connection that is unstable or cannot sustain the configured bitrate; that guidance does not establish that bandwidth causes every audio-sync problem. Use the OBS connection troubleshooting guide if you see dropped frames or other connection symptoms, and the YouTube troubleshooting steps to check stream health and outbound delivery.

Do not use YouTube latency as a sync control
YouTube’s latency settings govern viewer delay and buffering trade-offs; its guidance does not describe them as controls for relative audio/video alignment. Lower latency means less read-ahead buffering and can make viewers more likely to experience buffering. Changing latency mode is therefore not the right first response to a fixed mouth-movement/audio mismatch. See YouTube’s explanation of live-streaming latency.
Common symptoms and the next check
| What you observe | What to check next |
|---|---|
| Mismatch is present in the StreamVoodoo room or output | Confirm the selected audio input/output and routing; check whether Studio Sound speaker feedback or duplicate audio is involved. |
| StreamVoodoo looks aligned, but OBS is not | Inspect OBS source routing and formats, compare monitoring with recording/stream output, and check whether timing is fixed or drifting. |
| Timing gets worse as the stream continues | Check audio format consistency and system load as diagnostic leads; verify with a local recording rather than assuming a universal cause. |
| OBS and the local recording are aligned, but YouTube is not | Review YouTube stream health, encoder errors, CPU load, archive, and outbound connection. |
| You hear an echo or two copies of audio | Check speaker-to-microphone feedback and whether room audio and desktop capture share the same output path. |
| Only YouTube viewers report buffering or dropped frames | Investigate stream health and connection stability; do not treat a network symptom as proof of a fixed sync offset. |
When to contact StreamVoodoo support
If the mismatch persists specifically in StreamVoodoo’s browser room, Magic Link, or OBS integration after you have identified where it begins and checked routing, contact StreamVoodoo support with the test details. Include which stages you compared, whether the offset is fixed or increasing, whether a local recording is affected, and whether you use Studio Sound or audio monitoring. The public FAQ reviewed here does not describe a dedicated sync diagnostic or adjustment for those workflows.
